for those who using stick,

did you mod your joystick by using octagonal plate?
or still prefer square shape, with 4 corner edge?

i always jump accidentally and KO by ryu....
thinking of change to octagon shape.....

does it help?

Giefing with someone sounds even more wrong, considering what zangief does to his opponents

Yup i've changed to Octagonal, and im switching back to Square.
what character you use? i guess for alot of players..Square gate is always easier, unless the octagonal gate has smaller room.
then i guess it will be ok. but the one i used have a very big room, so precision is less.

you never know if you never try for yourself.. who knows you're meant to use octagonal ones?

ok ok..hmm how bout. Matching ( sounds even worst ) fighting ( sounds violence ) gaming ( uh..too general term )

i do not think that it has anything to do with which ever gate u are using. I guess that in ur case, u wanted to move forward but u accidentally push the stick further up and trigger the jump-forward direction.

IMHO, square gate are more accurate than octagonal gate, but that's juz my preference as i'm used to playing with square gate. In some arcade centre there are a couple of arcade cabinets that don't even have any plate in it, where u have to adept to it.

juz be patience and play more with ur stick, square gate will eventually be natural to u.

yea, i think it's the 2nd picture also cause it wouldnt make sense if u have that long stretch of space juz for the diagonal directions.

sanwa joystick too smooth already..
which i feel no secure..too loose..
then the semitsu is shorter, u can move quicker..
i would suggest u take semitsu for serious playing;)
