Definitely the 308 THP.. if you are as follows:
- need power and acceleration in your bonnet ( be it uphill or flat road)
- willing to spend money on it i.e repairs n maintenance for original parts
- like to be different from others (everyday see toyota honda n proton bore u)
- wanna taste all the gadgets that japs wont provide you at 100k price
- wanna feel the european handling
- willing to spend time to get it repaired when the time comes
- willing to take the bad after sales service by NAZA
- need the EXTRA protection of 5 star EURO CAP

Then please by all means go for 308 THP.. ENUF SAID!!

i'm getting one .. waiting for my car to arrive.. rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif thumbup.gif

The sporty Civic 1.8 i-VTEC 5spd auto feel so sleepy and doesn't even accelerate as good compare to an uncle Altis 1.8 4spd. You could make it look like FD2R but it is still 'slower' than the uncle car. It is either Civic 2.0 or some other car.

Just get the Pug turbo. Since everyone (including me) are rating it so high. Just let us know later when you have problem with the French. Somebody has to be guinea pig yeah.

ICE and peugeot cars don't mix... unfortunately. because peugeot like many european brands now use multiplex wiring. this means one wire serves many functions. e.g. one wire may handle current flow for the in-car entertainment system, the info display unit and even the indicator stalks. the system depends on a steady flow of electricity and resistance to function normally. if any wires are cut, the resistance will differ and it may affect the vehicle's general operations like when you turn on your lights and find your wipers coming on at the same time.

apparently, the french think their oem sound systems are good enough and will void your warranty with regards to non-original electrical devices being installed in the car... (including non-original reverse sensors etc.) btw, they will also void your warranty if you tap power direct from the battery... so the choice is yours.

i know of a case where an 807 (already past warranty) owner installed an in-car dvd system. it somehow short circuited and screwed up some of the car's equipment. the french were willing to consider giving warranty on the items that got screwed up but they backed out when they found out about the dvd system.

wahh..this pug is soooo.....picky n choosy rclxub.gif

how about installing the DVD system without going thru the original wire?...i mean install the DVD system using it own wiring ...then it should not intefere with existing signal and devices.....right???

Buy the darn 308...It is manual.

I think 308 is not as complicated as C5 kua... If you buy already and still want to do some ICE, PM me...I recommend an installer in Jalan Ipoh, who has done a few Citroen C-series ICE.

...Citroen kalau short-plug, hehehehe RM500 for tuning back.

if i get peugot, iam just worry about the spare part, will it be expensive?
yea this is next 5 years issue that you need to consider, if you think before 5 years you will change a car, how bout the car value?
so this all must consider.

308THP not manual if you meant the gear transmission. Only 308 GT is manual.

take 308 turbo if you want to be different. civic is too many on the road now. plus 1.8 is for pansies and aunties.

spec wise, no contest. 308 turbo wins by a big margin. award winning engine too.

why not test drive both cars and decide. i did test for both and my pick is the pug.

If you want to get the HONDA CIVIC,you have to get the 2.0 one.The 1.8 is seriously underpower.

If you insist on getting the 1.8,then of course the Peugeot 308 TURBO is way way way better.

I hv test drove the THP and its a damn fun car to drive!

If u have not tested between the FD1 and FD2, I think it is better u should keep the comments to yourself. There is no difference from 0-100km/h between the 2 models. But from there onwards, acceleration momentum of the FD1 will lose to the FD2 (perhaps due to DOHC for the FD2). So, if u are one who likes to drive at insane speeds, then the FD2 is your choice. FD1 underpower???? I guessed u must be expecting some Ferrari performance here. Let me tell u what is underpower, get a testdrive of the Proton Exora and u'll get the meaning right. whistling.gif

But I still choose the Peugeot 308 turbo at anytime over the FDs (whether is the FD1 or FD2). cool2.gif

True, the FD1 is not underpowered. Drove one for almost 2.5 years.

there's very little difference in max torque and power comparing Civic 1.8 and 2.0... why pay more for 2.0?

thread starter should try both out & give them the correct verdict for his / her own bucks.

if style of driving is aggresive, y not get the turbo.
he / she already has her own budget so probably FD2 is out of reach.

Happy Birthday bro!!! Ya if the budget is just within the 2 options, then 308 is really a good bargain. imo

not to say 1.8 FD is underpowered.. but just adequate. 2.0 is OK, but the acceleration is not that fast lah..

also, don't forget that 308 THP is 1.6 so roadtax is cheaper! when i floor the throttle, the engine noise is about the same across the rev range. no sign of stress and increase in noise. great engine!

The word underpower is always subjective depending to ppl. The 1.8 FD may be adequente for a normal driver, but for those who drive sport cars, the 1.8FD will be underpower.

For me, its more to expectations. If u going to drive on the road and not in racetrack, the 1.8FD should be sufficent. Unless u dont mind burning more fuel for good acceleration. wink.gif

Turbocharging small capacity engine is the way to go now, as many european manufacturers are doing now.

Yeap....based on my budget, this 2 cars in the list. so FD2 i won't consider.

now i am thinking to install DVD system. anybody or pug owner can confirm whether it can be install without touching the internal wiring or short circuit it?

also i wondering whether it is a good idea to install some sound proofing matt. anyone or pug owner advise....pls....

thanks
