Actually who don't? brows.gif That trend is actually driving iPhone sales so that is not unexpected.

when prepaid package is opened...i think the rumor of next gen iPhone has came on the net. i saw dozen of 3G stock at switch sunway carnival mall. how about 3G 8GB sale coz it is low RAM n Processor n half memory of  RM 2490 16GB 3GS. just add 500 to get more value like compass, video editing, voice control.

in gaming term...iphone 3GS vs iPod Touch which one better..how much MHz in iPod Touch proc n RAM..?
*
The iPod Touch (2nd generation onwards) have the same CPU + Graphics Core + amount of RAM as iPhone 2G/3G. However, the CPU clock speed is bumped up slightly to around 533MHz (I think). As a result, it has more 'fire power' than iPhone in terms of games. In fact, I saw one youtube video comparing the speed of iPod Touch and iPhone 3GS.

The iPhone 3GS is just a tad tiny bit faster than iPod Touch in terms of app loading and responsiveness. This is expected because iPhone 3GS's CPU clock speed is only 600MHz, slightly higher than iPod Touch. However, what the iPhone 3GS has over iPod Touch is the FUTURE. If you study the Cortex A8 processor and the PowerVR SGX Open GL ES 2.0 graphics, you will know what I am talking about. When applications and games programming takes advantage on those new little innovations, the speed bump and performance increase will further separate the two devices.

What you will likely see will be something near to PSP graphics quality (although its not really much compared to real PC games). Better eye candies and better loading times. Cortex A8 is a dual issue processor meaning it can address 2 'threads' in one pass. Smells like serious multitasking capability. Of course this is when the iPhone OS is revamped. Just think Palm Pre and its webOS. tongue.gif

Here's the breakdown for specs:

iPhone            - 412MHz ARM11, 128MB RAM, Open GL ES1.1
iPod Touch      - 412MHz ARM11, 128MB RAM, Open GL ES1.1
iPhone 3G      - 412MHz ARM11, 128MB RAM, Open GL ES1.1
iPod Touch 2G - 532MHz, 128MB RAM, Open GL ES1.1
iPhone 3GS    - 600MHz ARM Cortex A8, 256 MB RAM, Open GL ES 2.0
iPod Touch 3G - 600MHz ARM Cortex A8, 256 MB RAM, Open GL ES 2.0 (unsure)

So as of now, the 3GS is better at gaming but it will probably be the same with Touch 3G smile.gif
*
I believe the iPod Touch 3G's graphics core can be confirmed. Its the same platform as iPhone 3GS. Right now we won't see any applications taking advantage of OpenGL ES 2.0 because the hardware is just out and the datasets are beginning to be distributed. Also Apple has not released new libraries that support the new hardware. Of course any Open GL ES literature will cover 2.0. Some game house have announced the ability to detect which hardware it is being installed on and then call the appropriate graphics engine. Open GL ES 1.1 is not compatible with 2.0 and its not backward compatible.

So the support for better graphics as well as the more efficient CPU will only come in due time. And that time is usually very short. I say by the next year, the same day iPhone 3GS is announced we shall see something very interesting in the multi-tasking side of things. By then we will have greater games.

ya bro... i really feel i'm lucky!
I was checking this forum seeing everyone is waiting for their iPhone till their neck long d.... when i got the call i almost asked... are you serious?? (but he did mention my full name)
Hope u guys will get call/sms this few days too!~
*
Funny... I thought Maxis no longer make calls to notify customers? They say from now on will only be sms/email notification. Thats the only way to proof you have in deed receive confirmation.

No offense but did you get any of those? If there's no problem then ok lar... great news by the way!

I think when the iPhone 3GS 8GB is finally made available, it'll be grabbed in no time. The wait time will be even longer. Given that Apple may never be able to sell it at the USD$199 price point (previously held by 8GB), it'll be less profitable even though Apple is maximizing the platform over the entire product family.

We could be looking at another round of wait times hehehehe...

*
I'm going over on Sunday too. Some people who booked later than us already got it. They booked from The Gardens too. 16GB and not 32GB. I'm surprised.

Really good for you guys that Machine is finally fulfilling some of the bookings. Mine is still yet to come. blush.gif I'll be seeing them on Saturday though. One more try before the holiday season. I don't suppose they are opened on the 2nd day of Hari Raya? Hahahaha...

Probably next Wednesday onwards. That's pissed though as I have expected to give it a 'run' during the long holiday.

QUOTE(Iroci @ Sep 16 2009, 05:05 PM)
sorry for close topic but need to know coz will result my last choice...

does nVidia Tegra in Zune HD will beat both iPhone 3GS n iPod Touch 3rd generation chip's?
*
The Cortex A8 will burn the ARM11 core hands down. It is almost 50% more powerful. However, the Tegra graphics core is some 30-40% more powerful than PowerVR SGX on the iPhone 3GS/iPod Touch 3G. I would say both are quite comparable. But for platform innovations and dual-issue registers... Cortex A8 has the answer.

This is just platforms and hardware. To make good use of them, you need content. This is where the applications and software development comes in. You need to ask which one is more matured at this time. No need to say... that answer is Apple Apps Store. The Zune HD's apps store will mature in due time. The question is when. Such a good hardware is no use when there are no games/apps that uses it. And whether the platform is opened to developers to take advantage. If Microsoft decides to be cheeky and add a layer on top of the native hardware. Then no point.

Great that you guys are getting the iPhone. I can confirmed that Maxis has 'forgot' about my case/booking. The same old BS that its a worldwide shortage and such. And yet I am not in the Delay List. Made several status check calls and yet nothing. By the way this customer care consultant guy gave me a number which he say is Maxis Centre @ The Gardens. But it turned out to be a fax machine number. Not really sure though.

For those who wants to rain on their line. Here's the number to dial, 03-22875603

Uh oh. The game is still at play huh? Good luck guys :-)

I bought an 'iPhone-equivalent' without any pain the the ass waiting and suddenly I feel iPhone is one overrated dope.

Enjoy your waiting and enjoy your constrained phone.

Oh yeah... you went to be a Hero? Hahaha! Congratulations man! I was considering too but I wasn't happy with the camera and such. Multimedia is important for me. I thought about HTC Touch Pro 2 but I am not a fan of rusty Windows Mobile interface (of course the Touch Flo 3D v2 is nice). Omnia HD didn't make it because of Symbian interface. So back at iPhone. Hehehe!

Too bad lah macam ni, how i wish u guys give answer like 'iPhone is Cool gadget!' 'all my fren around use iPhone, sure i kenot lose!' 'iPhone is fashion man!' . . . Etc
So i can grab cheaper 2nd hand unit at
Garage sales after a month ma, lol.

Back to topic:
I plan to book at end of month, from what i observe here is 32GB will be slightly faster than 16GB, what does MEP means? U guys suggest me to book at machines or Maxis outlet? Cheers n thanks in advance first ! smile.gif
*
MEP stands for Maxis Exclusive Partner. For other terms, its in Maxis's website. I will still bank on Maxis Centre though since they are the source. But it all depends on the wait list and the number of stocks committed.

Bro, same here la...U r not alone  wink.gif Maxis said definetely after Raya within this month can get....aiks, wait and see la  doh.gif
*
Yeah, I got a call from Maxis as well saying that the iPhone 3GS 16GB is UNEXPECTEDLY out of stock. The lady on the phone was damn rush like going through script. Saying that it'll take another 2 weeks for the stocks to arrive and promise that I will get mine after Raya and within this month BS.

Apparently that 2 weeks time is from 14 September 2009 official date. So that's 10 days from now. In fact, the 2 weeks is a safe precaution and to manage customer expectations. It could be earlier. So less than 10 days is realistic. For those residing in KL area, no need to scout. There isn't any stocks except for those already reserved for customer who booked at 1x August 2009. Booking date from 2x August 2009 onwards will be delayed.

Hope this information helps.

Boosting social and corporate image as well as responsibility. Its not really free. Rather Maxis is sponsoring the school and the students by giving the iPhones for free. There is a difference. The saying, "Everything has a price" is true.

Guyz...the Iphone behind only write Iphone 16GB..box there the card only written 3gs,consider normal?scare they give me iphone 3g only(old stock) to sumbat our mulut
*
Nope. The phone is cold the entire day. Haha! How ironic. Those who booked later got theirs and its 16GB. I always wonder, if keeping the complaints hot on their line gives out bad karma. kekekeke... Perhaps it'll be sometime next week. I was at the Sungei Wang area for the entire day and visited a few Maxis Centres who wouldn't let go their stocks unless I get a call. Of course, I had to be honest because I really received no calls. But whatever, I'll wait.

QUOTE(fruitaleman @ Sep 19 2009, 05:38 PM)
Haha 3GS behind is also written 3G one, from the outside its nearly impossible to differentiate with 3G, except for 32GB and also the series number or something like tat.
*
There's a difference on the markings behind the case of iPhone 3G and 3GS. The 3G printings at the back cover is faded grey while the 3GS is a reflective chrome printing. The 3G home button is more damp and soft while the 3GS is 'clicky'. Of course the model numbers will tell it all you need to know as well as the software features. Most easily identifiable is the electronic compass and the video capture (and the auto focusing).

Hey guys! You know what? I got my iPhone 3GS 16GB black and I didn't even receive any Maxis notifications call/sms/email. You know what happened? Maxis Center@The Gardens does have stock. I booked mine on the 23rd of August and I've called Maxis repeatedly checking on the status of my booking. You guys are right. They don't have a clue! They just resort to the same old stuff that there is a worldwide shortage, bla bla bla whatever. They don't even know.

I tried my luck this evening as I was having dinner in Midvalley. I walked in, took a number and then showed my booking documents to personnel. She walked in and checked. Came out with something somebody regard as the most beautiful box tongue.gif. And there you have it! My name and my information was on the box. The personnel asked me if I received any notifications, I said no. Curious, I asked how come the box have my name on it and I received no notifications? When did it arrive? You know what... it was there for the entire week! And no one bothered to call me or whatever. I guess those peeps were on a hurry on their holidays. Or maybe they had other plans with those stocks. hmm.gif

So those who booked at the Gardens at least for 2x August booking, you guys should head straight to the counter.

Congrats that you get it earlier. Actually a white or black unit makes no difference if you plan to invest some protective casing on it... sweat.gif

You're right, it makes no difference. You can 'change' its colors by getting different casing colors anyway. Of course, the reason I stayed far from the white color is because of visible cracks. So I thought black would conceal it better if there are cracks.
