Are you sure? 2 maxis representatives told me that i could just do a walk-in purchase anytime in September, as long as there's stock.

This is for PREPAID package, please read previous posts Mr Rip-Off.

I already have double confirms from Maxis saying that customers who wish to get the prepaid plan can do so with a walk-in purchase starting September.

do u think thus is posible?
*
nothing is 100%, so what we can only do is hope for the best, even if they only allow booking for prepaid, is good enough, rather than nothing.

but what i get from 2 maxis staff, both of them say the same, able to do walk-in purchase, a.k.a buy on the spot, so i'm assuming no need booking.

anyway good luck trying to rip-off sell your i3GS.

*

i heard somewhere that Customs are holding off most of the stocks. Maybe will be cleared by september or mid of september and then we will have stocks flowing in by the bucket load.

Maxis's "worldwide shortage" is just BS, if they quote that, give them some facts and they'll start to give you real answers.

*
no plan? wow thats nice, may i know, do you like need some sort of permission or verification to purchase the Iphone with that special letter? Or are there any pre-requisites? like must we be an existing Maxis customer? cus i heard that they dont just give RM500 discount straight but instead credit it to your account?? so meaning must already have a plan?

thanks!

A piece of (mis)information I got while I'm there is the Iphone prepaid purchase will be available only in October. Sorry to bring the bad news guys, but then again, it could be wrong.
*
October? anyway i called Maxis CS again, and they say its still September. But when i asked the maxis representatives at their centers all give me different answers, some say the prepaid plan is gone, some say not until after raya, some say september, and the worse was "i dunno lol". doh.gif

anyway i hope it'll be in September (being optimistic). sweat.gif

So confirm hotlink prepaid is already open for booking right, according to a few post yesterday that is. But I think all of the bookings are done through authorized dealers and not Maxis centre right?
*
not sure, if its official, it should also be available at Maxis Centres, the email i got from Maxis customer service also said that i could do a walk-in purchase (or maybe a do a hotlink booking?) starting September, not sure exact date so it could be middle or even end of this month, since i'm busy with work i am unable to pay any Maxis centre a visit.

can anyone heading to any maxis centre enquire regarding this? thanks.

Hi, look at the date of the articles, its not worldwide storage, its Kastam tahan the Iphones.

If you want a more accurate result, visit apple site, i think they have this page that shows the availability of Iphone 3GS across all Apple stores (US/Australia).

Don't think it has anything to do with the custom coz the first batch can pass there's no reason for them to hold the following batch.
*
i dunno, this is what i heard, my friend who is a vendor for Maxis also said the same thing.

Kastam want duit kopi?

anyway i think the stock level would be replenished after raya.

iphone 2 famous... what to do?? shortage everywhere.... only US and Canada no shortage.... but i see Australia sets coming to malaysia... Wonder australia have no shortage.....
*
no i dont think Australia has any shortages.

Maxis keeps on BS'ing us by saying worldwide shortage but it is infact a business strategy, they want to tie as many people as they possibly can in getting contracts. This is what happens when there's a monopoly.

Apart from Maxis other telcos do not bother about ownership. And Maxis insists on the original owner submitting the warranty claim, at least for the first time. So, if you were to buy a used Maxis set, make sure the original owner is within your grasp.
*
If i'm not mistaken, someone say u can change ownership of the phone. Must go to maxis center with owner and transfer ownership there. There's a small fee charged though.

@Kyoshiro

Yes, they will always use that BS of "worldwide shortage" which is in fact totally untrue, the only shortage is in Malaysia (and maybe Singapore). Either that or they're using this as a marketing strategy, high in demand with low supply will create more value for a product and thus generate more buzz.

Anyway, i still see them advertising very aggressively, i spot a 3GS advert literally every 500 meters in KL.

On a side note, i've booked mine, prepaid package smile.gif 3GS 16GB white. So the waiting game begins. Hopefully will arrive within 30 days.

NO, there is NO WORLDWIDE iphone shortage, did u even read few posts back? after being told off, the maxis representative admit its just them (Maxis).

Please view Apple stores in US and Australia stock level, after every 9pm (their time).

Please note the date of articles u have googled.

QUOTE(Urban @ Sep 8 2009, 03:02 PM)
Lol making me laugh. There is shortage and not really a marketing strategy. For goodness sick USA and Australia and german are the only country that does not have shortage. U can blame apple 4 it. Since USA have no shortage they have open the market to China. O yea when maxis CS know anything about anything? Btw if u study marketing strategy this is not a marketing strategy. Technology stuff need to be sold asap.

As a consumer you want to believe that there is no shortage. i dont really like maxis myself but if you know a bit about technology and economics that you know that is not a marketing strategy and there is really shortage.

(P.S Apple have open up the market to China after Australia and German is done with their shortage.)
*
thus its not "WORLDWIDE", they always quote "WORLDWIDE". If its worldwide, USA, Australia and others would be experiencing the same problem as well, but theyre not. They could easily say "Shortage in Malaysia". As i have said earlier, the shortage is local and maybe in singapore as well, but NOT worldwide as being claimed.

And yes it is a short-term marketing strategy, when u claim a shortage, especially products which are high in demand, u make it exclusive, u generate more buzz and in turn more orders as people would try to get it asap since the lead time is very long, thats the reason for the aggressive advertising going on. Since they are also only accepting orders through contract, theyre basically forcing people to be tied with them, thus more long term revenue and those who do not want to wait have to accept it. Also theyre able to do this is because they have no competition, if Celcom were to take on them, it'll be a whole different ball game.

I have an internal source from Maxis which indicates that they actually have stocks, the reason of delay is unknown however (normal junior exec). This is up to u to believe, i just take it with a grain of salt. Also a Maxis CS would know much more than a regular customer, for obvious reasons.

Oh, think out of the box and i know electronic products have a short shelf life.

not very.

those numbers actually represent outright and unlocked versions from the apple store.

there are still shortages (very apparent) when it comes to, obtaining the iPhones from your respective networks.
*
oh, unlocked version many stocks eh?
