Lol making me laugh. There is shortage and not really a marketing strategy. For goodness sick USA and Australia and german are the only country that does not have shortage. U can blame apple 4 it. Since USA have no shortage they have open the market to China. O yea when maxis CS know anything about anything? Btw if u study marketing strategy this is not a marketing strategy. Technology stuff need to be sold asap.
As a consumer you want to believe that there is no shortage. i dont really like maxis myself but if you know a bit about technology and economics that you know that is not a marketing strategy and there is really shortage.
(P.S Apple have open up the market to China after Australia and German is done with their shortage.)
thus its not "WORLDWIDE", they always quote "WORLDWIDE". If its worldwide, USA, Australia and others would be experiencing the same problem as well, but theyre not. They could easily say "Shortage in Malaysia". As i have said earlier, the shortage is local and maybe in singapore as well, but NOT worldwide as being claimed.
And yes it is a short-term marketing strategy, when u claim a shortage, especially products which are high in demand, u make it exclusive, u generate more buzz and in turn more orders as people would try to get it asap since the lead time is very long, thats the reason for the aggressive advertising going on. Since they are also only accepting orders through contract, theyre basically forcing people to be tied with them, thus more long term revenue and those who do not want to wait have to accept it. Also theyre able to do this is because they have no competition, if Celcom were to take on them, it'll be a whole different ball game.
I have an internal source from Maxis which indicates that they actually have stocks, the reason of delay is unknown however (normal junior exec). This is up to u to believe, i just take it with a grain of salt. Also a Maxis CS would know much more than a regular customer, for obvious reasons.
Oh, think out of the box and i know electronic products have a short shelf life.
