Anno 1404, also known as Dawn of Discovery inside North America, is a real-time strategy and city-building game. It was developed by Related Designs and is published by Ubisoft. Anno 1404 is the sequel to Anno 1701 and is the latest installment in the Anno series.

As with other Anno games, the player starts as leader of an unarmed country which must colonize and expand in the game world. While the player expands their in-game territory, other computer controlled rivals are also expanding and strengthening their countries. As the player progresses through the game, they have access to lodge activities and troops which allow them to invade and ultimately to defeat other players. Anno 1404 features an updated interface, bigger islands and worlds to explore, a sandbox mode, and other features new to the Anno series.

Yar, that's a good serie of game.

I played the very first one that came (Anno 1606 or something) a long time ago and it was pretty good.
I also played the previous one (1704) but I found it bland since it has no campain (sandbox usually amuse me the first 1-2 times then its stale)

I considered buying that one but I am kinda full on new games at the moment, might wait for it to go budget or some steam special offer.

Anno 1404 has this crashing problem, unfortunately on both original/non-ori copy. From a quick google and based on small sample, it's nvidia's problem :-(

yeah, and graphic taking much resource... compare to AOE3 (which i think the visual feel quite similar), AOE a lot more lighter and smoother than this. but i still like the gameplay... nod.gif

btw, how to make ropes... haiz, it said it will available once have much citizen, but how to know eh? hmm.gif

Ropeyard needs 240 citizens. Click on the population tab to know how many citizens you got.

Ropes require Hemp (the same one that lets you produce clothing)

IIRC the Ropeyard is a Citizen-level building. The amount of Citizens you need to unlock it is shown when you mouseover on the greyed out building icon

hemp checked. but ropeyard required about 200++ citizen! shocking.gif

so my main problem now is, how to upgrade those peasants to citizen? seems all my peasants houses need are 'very well satisfied'; 100%... hmm.gif

Oh, easy.

One thing you must know is not all your peasants will rank up to citizens... the game strives to be realistic, so you don't end up with a gleaming city only consisting of noblemen.

Therefore, you must create even more peasant houses... a percentage of it will stay as peasants even with all needs fulfilled, but the rest will rank up towards citizens.

Same process applies from citizens --> patricians --> noblemen

And also for nomads --> envoys

haha thx! ya2, i know bout all the rank up thingy, but hours had past and only 2 citizen house! how in the hell i wanna those peasants move on to be live a better life! i was like wtf and wanna give up, so i just start messing around with the peasants cribs. then was i realized my mistake.... flex.gif

i was being msian a cruel gov! tongue.gif i raised their taxes until the 'calm' sector. bcos i was blinded by the gold keep decreasing. heck, i did that for the sake of the upkeep. doh.gif

when decrease to 'euphoria', the gold seems increasing faster and 1 by1 citizen appear! rclxms.gif

btw, i still hope there will be a patch to fix the major fps dropping. especially when ur town gets bigger.... sad.gif

Oh... that! I forgot to tell you also, anything below dark green and they won't rank up. When you want to rank up, set back the taxes, other times, SUCK THEIR MONEH >:-)

But I guess you already know now tongue.gif

Game is super smooth for me, even with fully inhabited island. Check my sig for specs. Everything on max, 1680x1050.

One thing, beware of this game.. it's evil tongue.gif Everytime I start the game, my sleep schedule all GG. Today I played until 9:30am, since last afternoon. That's almost 15-18 hours! Only stopped for dinner (skipped lunch) >< Super addictive man!

Grats btw smile.gif

I saw the logo BlueBytes on one of the trailers.

If I remember well BlueBytes is the ones that created the Settles Series... so yar, good guess tongue.gif

The mechanisms are pretty similar anyway, especially when it comes to the production chains
