QUOTE(TeliLeti @ Jul 24 2011, 11:43 PM) Don't really need a wheel if your hedgie has a large space to run around. ditto. lili just has 3 points she's interested in her playpen. a. her hide box + blanky b. her food + water bowl c. her wheel + litter box anything else is inconsequential ._x lol i'd usually cuddle her at 8am ~ 10am and 5pm ~ 7pm while im watching tv or drawing or gaming and she'd sleep right up to 2am or so, get something to eat, walk around a little and jumps into her litter box to scratch around and run on her wheel till about 4am ~ 5am and back to her hide box ._o This post has been edited by olivur: Jul 25 2011, 06:41 AM

i mean, i guess you could still touch them if you soap up your hand prior and wear a flu mask? but i just dont wanna risk it. and i read somewhere before that while not proven, there have been rumours where owners who have herpes kissed their hedgehogs and passed it on? rofl This post has been edited by olivur: Jul 25 2011, 09:51 PM

QUOTE(Amedion @ Jul 26 2011, 02:23 PM) Got my hedgie on Saturday night. Everyday just walk around and drink. Don't want to eat. Any advise? like ken hinted, try inquiring the person you got your hoglet from what brand of kibbles was it fed previously. it probably just doesnt like the current kibbles. try to obtain the brand that it's used to and mix it with the new kibbles that you got and gradually decrease the ratio of the old kibbles. and hopefully your hoglet starts eating again This post has been edited by olivur: Jul 26 2011, 02:47 PM

from what i've read, most would probably assume that it's just getting used to it's new environment, to make 100% sure that you counted the kibbles you put in and so and so.
but on a personal point of view i would've tried giving it mealworms, crickets, chicken bits or anything to see if it's just being picky before gunning to the vet.
and yeah.. i was kinda lost on the wheel part too, lol

myeah, i'm kinda glad that she doesn't eat random bugs since i plan to take her out in the garden and let her do whatever soon but on the other hand, i'm skeptical that she'd do anything much during daytime, especially when i'm "playing" with her. since it'll almost certainly end up like this - and me ending up with a numb arm. anything higher than a hogster scale of 7 in terms of movement and this'll happen - and those eyes would be like O_O O_O sniff sniff sniff* rustle rustle rustle* and back to this -

lil was fidgety the first few times i had her in my hands. when she finally settled down when i cuddled her i was naturally pleased.
up to the point i felt something warm dripping through my arm / chest onto my toes. lol

@mav_850 - you could try rearing them, but the level of difficulty made me quit halfway when i tried it (i can't stand the dried puke stench they give off) if you're interested, this site has some good info :) @telileti - hows chubs doing ._o?

you could prolly keep the female with chubs since females in general are less territorial as they grow up.
i mean i know hogs are said to be solitary animals but how they grow up plays an important role as well imo.
but keeping males together .. mmmyeah :P
ninja edit*
dibs on male pinto. lol
