lol, gratz, when mine get pregnant, her poop will be super big and smelly...
QUOTE I think my female hedgie is pregnant again coz her pee poop start to become so Arrrgggg smelly. Haha, just a tips for u, when a female hedgie is pregnant, first thing u would hav notice is her pee poop will become EXTREMELY SMELLY no matter what u feed her. Secondly her body size would "EXPAND" and she would consume large amount of food than usual 3-4 days b4 her due date. This post has been edited by Ken.B: Apr 14 2011, 05:38 PM |

QUOTE(blastberry @ Apr 15 2011, 06:38 PM) i just bought 1 pair of hedgie back home bout one week ago. Both r 10 weeks old. Bout 3 days ago i found that my female one keep scratching her body. not all the time but just sometimes. if she walk around eating, playing, sleeping seldom do it. once she stop n stare she will start scratching. just a while. i have hamster n some white rats. they too scratch like the hedgie but i c is normal. i m not sure bout hedgie, that's y i ask here. i dun c any white mites or kutu running in there. i very particular their cleanliness as they poop i scoop. i even have fence so that mosquito or small flies cannot enter. i thought its was the bedding. so i change. the moment i change i still have that prob. This only happen to the female. the male enjoying the bungalow n toy. lol. my fren told me its normal for mouse/rat family. they will scratch here n there. unless if there is mite they will scratch non stop. advice me. THX!! They will scratch occasionally. If they scratch too much or the interval is very close, it might be mites. QUOTE(blastberry @ Apr 15 2011, 06:38 PM) oh ya i cannot take the female up cause she is very sensitive. she will bite if u got RC cat food smell. if not she will raise her spike. how do i train her to be tame?? i c the thread part, it says let it smell the hand n so on but the moment my female smell... ITS FOOD!!! BITE!!! i can only tap her back slowly when she is enjoying eating. she dun bother who is touching cause she loves to eat. any more option or cure to tame it.?? cause its about time i wanna bath them only the male i can do it. will it hurt? If i were you, i would have let her bite and push towards her or blow her nose IF it's not super painful. |

QUOTE(ddr3 @ May 13 2011, 10:23 AM) oh, congrats, ur exam over ald. not the cinnamon, another appricot kema ites, got white whote stuffs movin on its back, but the breeder asked me 2 use small small amount of dettol wor, how how how? hmm, sad to hear that actually. Well for me i'll do what nethelp suggested (bathing them with j&j shampoo) if that still doesn't work you'll have to fed them with Ivermectin which you can get from the vet. hehehhee, just ask mah, coz gt so many breeder, they are much more experience, wanna know wat clor will com out. ur cinnamon is getting bigger n rounder there's used to have a debate on whether to use Ivermectin or Frontline. The Sifus' said that Ivermectin are used to cure and Frontline are used for prevention. You can check the previous post to find out more. Also, if you have 2 male, do not put their cage side by side as they still can smell the other's scent and they'll be aggresive. |

QUOTE(TeliLeti @ May 23 2011, 02:03 PM) For the past week or so, Huffy's been curling up all of a sudden without any sudden moves/changes from me or the environment. Yeah, he's doing his own "thing" I've asked someone on a hedgehog forum & they said it's 'boy time'. xD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cWd6dZb7zI What do you think? I hope it's not a seizure or something. He 'used to be a salt & pepper' until he completed quilling this month and turned out to be a snowflake. BTW, anyone using kritters crumble? I find it better than woodshaving. This post has been edited by Ken.B: May 23 2011, 02:59 PM |

QUOTE(TeliLeti @ May 24 2011, 08:48 AM) Thanks. Hmm, no, never heard/seen them before. From what I've read on the internet about it thus far, it seems like a pretty good bedding to use. QUOTE(Kritter's Crumble Homepage) ... free of any chemicals and toxins. I wonder if it clumps. I'll certainly look out for them in stores next time. QUOTE(Salt&Pepper @ May 24 2011, 11:48 AM) it do last longer than woodshaving. Also, it's made from coconut so i doubt lice and mites will be found in it. |

well, my previous salt and pepper was fed with jambu air as they are high in calcium. however, not all hedgehog fancy fruits. haha.
well, in my opinion, if it's calcium, it should be able to be consumed by all animals right no matter it's for reptiles or mammal. It's just the matter of branding / advertising. What do you all think? |

QUOTE(nethelp @ May 26 2011, 01:52 PM) Not really sure about that. But feeding cricket, mealworm and superworm should hav supply enuf calc to hedgie. Not sure if glider-calc can be used on hedgie or not... Actually, feeding mealworm and superworm does not help. In fact, worms will cause calcium deficency as they are high in phosphorus. |

QUOTE(Salt&Pepper @ Jun 2 2011, 12:33 AM) I just blend the oat with the crushed cornflakes for mealies substrate. Never thought of dusting it with the milk powder I did tried adding milk powder in it too. But I doubt they'll consume it cause I've made an experiment by taking some mealies and put them into a different container which has a teaspoon of milk powder and some vegies. After a few days, I don't find any changes in the amount of milk powder. I waited a few days more and the milk powder is harden. Should give it a try QUOTE(pemberan|x @ Jun 2 2011, 07:24 AM) Be careful not to overuse dettol though Hoglets are cute!!! |

QUOTE(blastberry @ Jun 16 2011, 06:30 PM) hey fellas... izzit a must to trim hedgie nails?? Bathing them 2 days a week is too much. They''ll have dry skin easily. I bath them a couple of times in a year or as needed. btw, your hedgehog is cute Added on June 16, 2011, 6:39 pm i used wood shavings all the time.. no mites after all. maybe diff way of cleaning perhaps.. i clean the shit n urine everyday n all the shavings after 3-4 days depending on the lvl of their drops. i bath them 2 days a week. not a prob. i try using my old shirt but they aint like it. i try using fleece too but she urine here n there. QUOTE(ix3Rukia @ Jun 16 2011, 07:48 PM) i heard from a website they say pine shavings is ok , not cedar. I used to use pine shaving. Now I'm using coconut husk. Try not to use newspaper as the ink are poisonous. thinking of buying fleece/using newspaper but i sked cant absorb the pee pee. thinking of breeding mealworms too hehe. oh yeah , if use fleece need prepare 2 right? one after u need clean / wash den put the other 1 , when other 1 dirty use the cleaned one QUOTE(eClIpSe_R3tr0 @ Jun 18 2011, 02:19 AM) Hey guys newbie here , lol , juz wna ask a simple question , if I had 1 hedgie in future la It depends on individual actually. I don't feel pain but somehow there's a time where the spikes poke my friend till she bleeds. When they are bonded with you they will not roll up frequently. They are spikey and cute!! Does the spikes hurt ? I checked Wikipedia , it says abt when the hedgie feels threatened it will roll itself into a ball shape ... So if you are holding the hedgehog then suddenly it rolls into a ball , then your hand kena the spikes , how ? Is it painful ? P.S. Mummy is pregnant |
