I sent flickr mail to nora, sometimes ago, and asked her how she took all the pictures..and here, how she replied to me...
Nora Carol
My landscape shot was taken with sony A200 ever since i bought it last year. I'm still using
kitlens for my landscape shot, there's few using Tamron 70-300 as i love to see the moon/sun to appeared bigger in my picture. And i only have CPL, ND8 and a set of Graduated Neutral Density Filter.
For this kind of shot www.flickr.com/photos/noracarol/3485949754/
i attached ND8 filter, Cokin P121S &P121M ND Gradual filters so that i can get a perfect round sun and a right exposure sky for my slow shutter shot. There's also tips from pro photographer to go out shooting for sunset on a slightly hazy weather, its the time when the sun appeared rounder that usual.
To get a beautiful sky sunset colors, it is advisable for you to always wait for 5/10minutes after the sun disappeared into the horizon as its the time when the sky appeared to be more colorful and vibrant than during sunset. The clouds (on sunset) after rain also more dramatic than normal day.
Maybe you can also try to set your camera to 'cloudy' white balance when you go out shooting or set to auto and adjust the wb in Sony Image Editor later.
Take a look at this link www.vividlight.com/articles/312.htm and www.photomalaysia.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74006. Its a very helpful article.
To tell you the truth I've hundreds for unsuccessful sunset pictures
