QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 8 2009, 01:46 PM) From my Maxis insider, This is straight from the horse's mouth itself. Maxis SVP, the Head of Product Development and New Businesses mentioned the 3G[S] release as 31/7 during an internal brief. Take this with a whole pitcher of salt, folks. 23 days to go..... hmmmmm come to think of it, it would be great, enuff time for us to save up!!!!! heeeeeee

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 8 2009, 03:38 PM) @beavis68, U wouldn't know Besides I don't think Maxis will be selling the 3GS outright for the time being. U meant during launch day?? Yeah most probably they will offer the postpaid users first.

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 10 2009, 01:50 AM) @jonest, Er.. 8GB? That's for the i3G? Well, I'll refer them as 8/16/32GB as it would be the norm at least for the nex 6-9 mths..... ???!!! Well I'm pretty excited with the HK pricing and oso Maxis pricing TBA on 15/7/09....... coz I sold off my 2G today!!!! yippppeeeeee the only problem is I'm back to my old V3 for the time being, till I lay on hands on the new 3GS!!!!!! QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 10 2009, 09:47 AM) @jonest, i3G also got 16GB mah. Besides, I don't think Maxis will be selling the 8GB cause last I heard from a fellow forummer here, the 8GB's out of stock and I don't think Maxis will be re-stocking, plus I don't think Apple's still manufacturing it It does however looks as if Apple is trying to cater to a bigger market this time round by making the phones available via Apple Stores. Perhaps on our shores too Tot 8Gb 3G is gonna stay right?

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 10 2009, 11:01 AM) @jonest, I'm not too sure but it probably stay until the stocks have finished. I doubt Apple will continue manufacturing them though *shrugs* Apple in US is selling them at $99 while 16GB 3GS is at $199.... So I assumed that the 8GB is gonna be around for at least the nex 6mths. They can't maintain the 16GB 3G as it will directly compete with the i3GS model.... Added on July 10, 2009, 11:24 amAnyway, check wif u how do you find the performance of the new i3GS in terms of speed? opening SMS and downloading a webpage? QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 14 2009, 09:45 AM) @arthurlim89, I can't comment much because I never studied the Maxis plans in the past. I wouldn't want to lock myself with them because their plans aren't cheap + what's the point of signing a 2 year contract with them when knowingly Apple releases new iPhones on an annual basis?! Not forgetting that Maxis 'does not provide any upgrade plan at this moment'!!!!! This post has been edited by jonest: Jul 14 2009, 12:09 PM

@tink,
I don't think Maxis is works like Singtel. Singtel actually allows user to pre-order and will charge $50 for that while Maxis merely wants to know interested buyers to register but I do have a feeling they will give priorities to those that are registered. Just my hunch... Anyway it's best to register now rather be sorry later.

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 14 2009, 04:10 PM) @jonest, I'm interested to find out the information but I'm not going to pre-order because I've no intentions to purchase hence they better not take my RM50 ! And if they do that, they need to make sure it's stated clearly when we register. Nothing of that sort was written. Don't worry, they can't coz they oso open to DiGi, Celcom users as well.... like u said, it has to be mentioned and a "click" for us to allow Maxis to deduct fees, if any.

@Dozz That's for i3G and we'll know about in less than 12 hrs eh... Btw, we may register our interests on i3GS at Machines website too (click here), just like Maxis's .... the difference? You may choose which Machines outlet to get it, perhaps an indication outright purchases??? Like I said, we'll know it by noon.... Cheerios This post has been edited by jonest: Jul 15 2009, 12:44 AM

Ok, registered online this afternoon aroud 1pm but no email received. Went to Maxis centre (without Maxis simcard), they say has to wait for the email / sms. Went home to get sim card, got sms but still no email. Went back to Maxis Centre, paid RM200 deposit via booking ref. no. Bought another prepaid pack and try to register online but failed. Maxis centre accepted RM200 deposit w/o online register.
So I booked 16GB Black & White units. Now 16 days to wait till collection day. Hopefully no many Q then..... cheerios..
P/s: After 2 hrs up and down, came back to office still no confirmation email.

QUOTE(bluesky87 @ Jul 15 2009, 10:36 PM) I've click on the resend validation email on Maxis page but still haven't receive any confirmation email yet. So far only SMS. I guess we'll have to wait till tomorrow and see how it goes. The email seems to take 4ever.... I'd reserved this afternoon ard 1pm but till now, no email.... but there's a SMS from them and Maxis centre can accept booking with the ref no sent via sms.

Ok guys, this happens to me (to those prepaid users)
Bought a new prepaid pack at Maxis centre and the staff tried to register online but failed. But still they accepted my RM200 deposit. Later on, one of the staff called me asking for a pin no that supposed to be SMS but "ilek".
I've tried to register online but I couldn't advance to stage 4n5. So I changed email add and played with some of the clickable options. one of it asking u whether u wanna upgrade ur prepaid to postpaid. I clicked yes and I managed to get on the final steps.
Hope this helps!

@tink,
Inside info, Apple will subsidize all resellers if there's a price drop in products! As for 16GB, Apple will absorb back (this is my guess).
