tinkerbel really did a great job trying to calm everyone else down. What is the nervous about anyway guys? Come to think if it, it's just a phone. Just chill and follow the procedure.

The rest of the thing is not to worry about until it happens. tinkerbel I am also shy lol was just suggesting I mean if possible we should meet up with the rest of LYN also like johnliew. No, I don't know him either.

I phoned Machines 1U regarding about the collection of i3GS. Here's what ensued,

The sales manager picked up the phone and I asked whether I could pick up on the date I specified, he was quick to reply even before I could finish my sentence...
"Sorry sir, the stocks will definitely not arrived tomorrow 31/7 as Maxis hasn't given us any notice about collection procedures."

I continued asking when do they expect the stocks to arrive...
"I can't confirm that with you, sir, as I'm not sure myself either. Maxis hasn't given us any notice regarding about it."

I wasn't surprised as I've expected the problem to be at this magnitude, but the problem worsen when I asked if I could get the iPhone before 5th of August as I'll be leaving the country for a year (I lied about the date, but I needed and answer), he seems honest when answering...
"Sorry sir, but Maxis is the one who decides how many stocks they'll be giving out, and we have no idea how many they'll be giving to us. We have exceeded 100 applicants who deposited at our store. If the supply is more than the demand, that won't be a problem. Otherwise, I'm afraid it's beyond our control."

He then asked when I pre-booked the i3GS. I told him I deposited the amount on the 23rd. He sighed on the phone, and I wasn't very pleased...
"It's risky for booking it later than the 20th, but nonetheless, please wait for our call when your iPhones becomes available for pick up, but we don't know when this will be."

Conclusion,
Anyone who booked around the day like I did, well, tough luck sad.gif

Just called Machines HQ to get the bottom on this:

- Confirmed, no a single unit arrive at Machines HQ as of 3pm today. For all Apple products, usually it will arrive Machines HQ @ Northcourt, then distribute to all Machine outlets.
- Check Machine's distribution policy. It's based on the order of who paid the deposit at the outlet. As of the exact mechanics (what if the 30 person paid earlier then me, how?), no one has any idea yet.
- Same final advise, call tomorrow before going. Outlets open only at 10am.

Machine @ 1U's phone have been off the hook for a while now, I guess they finally got feddap tongue.gif

Simplest answer is usually most logical - it's due to typical bad Malaysian planning smile.gif

I have the exactly same situation like you just a minute ago when they call me.
I ended the call with this question: So all that I can do now is to wait? He say YES.
Can't really do anything as they haven't even get a single iPhone on hand.

I'm sure the stocks will arrives later this evening cause...6pm onwards  smile.gif

Even if it is, those who are suppose to collect the phone tomorrow morning will still not make it on time unless they work overnight which I don't think will happen.

Got a call from Machines 1U that 3GS collection might not happen tomorrow.  cry.gif  Anyone can verify this?

Yes it's been verified and clarified.

QUOTE(CerebralRogue @ Jul 30 2009, 04:46 PM)
i got a call from Machines 1U as well that I shouldn't come until they call...sigh
*
Same. Just sit and wait until they call full stop

All that I can say is I am really disappointed with Maxis giving blank promise. Not angry, as the phone will still come but it's been delayed. Seems like a big mess for Malaysia, Maxis, Apple. Can't do anything at this moment but to do more preparation for the coming phone.

The question is, since everything is getting screwed up now, what do you guys think of the condition of the phone? What will it be till it arrived on our hand? Still 100% good in condition? Think about it.

I have already waited for 2 whole weeks , and now they say insufficient stock!!?!?

Why do people like last minute jobs.....
Why not make things clear by saying there are limited stocks before people buy from them.

This's gonna reduce Maxis's reputation for sure.

I guess it's a 50:50. Reduce because of this incident, but increase because they are the only iPhone provider in Malaysia, and of course this time around with reasonable price. Your choice.

Let's hope that Maxis will do something about the delay. Say free 500 SMS or something?

Latest update from MACHINES 1U.

Just called them and the first question they ask would be 16gb or 32gb booking? They have stock for 16gb but not 32gb. He said don't worry as soon as they get the stock they will call us.

Sigh, I am rather speechless now reading a few pages back that I think it's going to be a matter of fact that I will have to wait till the 18th only can get my phone. Worst of all, I'll be outstation for a week by then.

FYI guys, I am one of them who pre-book my phone at the early stage at Machines 1U. The collection date should be on the 31st of July, morning. Today would be Tuesday, after 4 days of patiently waiting, no news, no call, no message, no email, no nothing.

Call Machines? What's the point of constantly listening to wait till we call you? Darn. This is really being so unfair. Maxis totally screwed this up. Honest speaking, I am not excited on the phone at all now, at least not until I get it.

This would be my latest update on my current condition being one of Machines 1U, Maxis victim.

Both Machines or Maxis did not email, contact or sms me about the delay of the iPhone. Is that good news or bad? I phoned Machines 1U last sunday and they said they're clearing out stocks for those who prebooked from 18th to 21st. 22nd to 24th will be this week. They assured me they'll phone me today, just don't know when. Don't wanna put my hopes too high, optimism will lead to greater disappointment.

At least they did not lie to you. Follow story below.

"Hi, I made a pre-payment booking for an iPhone 3GS at your store on the 23rd and I called last Sunday and one of the staff assured my he'll call me today the latest. So far I have not gotten any calls from him. Can I know what's the situation?"

"Which model did you order?"

"32GB black"

"Come tmr and collect it"

Though I smell something fishy.

Don't worry. At first I thought it was fishy too but ended up a not-so-frustrated-half-happy i3GS owner.

I call up MACHINES 1U this morning to check on my iPhone 32gb Black availability. They ask me to leave my name and contact number and they will call be back. Shortly after 15 minutes, they call me back and say your iPhone is ready to be collect, please come at around 3-4pm. I was so shocked and say okay then hang up.

Thinking back again, I thought it wasn't promising and I call up again to double check my detail, especially on phone specification. That guy say yes your phone is right here with me now don't worry. I asked if I could collect on the next morning, he say not guarantee if the phone will still be there.

Went to MACHINES 1U sharp at 3pm. Walk in without any receipt (forgot). Just go to the counter and give my name. iPhone was brought out, some computer data keying is done, hand me MACHINES member card + RM20 preloaded, and pass me the iPhone just like that. Total duration less than 10 minutes.

I am a Prepaid buyer which prebooked my iPhone on the 18th of July. Collection date was suppose to be the 31st of July.
