Hi guys.. I want to ask.. I have a Iphone 3GS AT&T set..used 4.1 for sometime it was fine until ultrasnow release 1.2.5 update..after updating it and respring it said cannot detect network..do you guys ever have this problem?any solution? I send to the shop and they also cannot do..please help..tq.

Follow this guide to downgrade ultrasn0w. Uninstall version 1.2.5 and then install 1.2.4 using direct .deb file installation

I updated iphone 3G(3.1.2) to 4.2.1
It's a locked phone from Japan.
After updating, I tried to jailbreak it.
Everything works fine until this step

After I clicked NEXT, the program closed by itself.
I can never get to install cydia no matter how times i've tried.
And now the phone is on emergency mode.
Anyone can help me on this?

i think you should try downloading the latest redsnow.

if it is in the emergency mode, (connect to itunes logo, and when you slide for unlock, there's only emergency call display) you can set up your phone back as new in itunes. open itunes and it'll detect your phone

I assume you updated without preserving the baseband (based on your statement). You may have a problem unlocking the phone ...

select the firmware, install cydia, get into DFU mode, etc. But it din ask me to upgrade the baseband.
when the redsnow began uploading the new RAM Disk and Kernel, it will close by itself.

I think it's already too late if you have already updated to 4.2.1 using stock firmware previously (or if you update via iTunes).

As for redsn0w crashing .... you need to download the latest version of redsn0w for the 3G, if I'm not mistaken, it's redsn0w 0.9.6b5 (this version number is important as the latest latest for others is 0.9.10b5c)

I downloaded the firmware from web which provide step by step tutorial and used redsn0w 0.9.10b3.


What can I do now?? buy new iphone haha.

You cannot use 0.9.10b3 for the 3G. You need to use 0.9.6b5

OMG. I didn't know. So, nothing can be done now?
Can downgrade it?

I'm not sure if you can downgrade the baseband for the 3G. As for firmware, you an always downgrade as the 3G downgrading process is simpler and you do not require the SHSH. If you have a certain type of 3G iPhone, the baseband can be downgraded using Fuzzyband. I'll get some info to let you know.

These are the things you need

1. Your 3G MUST BE on bootloader 5.08 to be able to downgrade the baseband. If it's not on 5.08 bootloader, then your only choice is to use an iPad baseband 6.15.00 (more on this once you confirmed what kind of bootloader you have)

2. You must be able to jailbreak the 3G on 4.2.1 first and you need to do this properly. You must use the proper redsn0w version. Follow the guide from modmyi here

Use redsn0w 0.9.6rc19 which should work on the 3G on 4.2.1

Once you have successfully jailbroken the iPhone ... let me know.

Sorry, I'm a little confused. Should I do the jailbreaking 1st or check the bootloader 1st?

In your case, you should make sure that the phone is successfully jailbroken first.

In that case, you need to install the iPad baseband 6.15.00, I think I've given you the guide in my PM, follow that guide and you should be able to install the iPad baseband and use ultrasn0w to unlock the 3G.
