1. look at the myvi's engine bay, at the firewall. i believe all lagi best comes with that insulation, i've personally touch on the material, hard and spongy. this is EXACTLY the thing i hope to achieve in my car. The other car i know got this type of insulation layer at firewall is Hyundai/Inokom Matrix. [KS]This kind of materials might need to go back to manufacture. Just try the cabin firewall soundproof method, you might be surprise by what you can achieve.
2. STP Gold is not sound insulator?? forgive me cause i've no clue what's the different class. and btw cutting STP Gold sounds so expensive... just googled SilentCoat, looks kind of good. do you sell this? does the SilentCoat material can withstand engine bay heat? no turbo no nothing, just stock. from the visual look, the Silentcoat isolator looks kinda similar to Insulflex. [KS]STP Gold is vibration dampener. You can look for other similar materials. Sorry, I don't sell SilentCoat. The look might be similar, but once you have a feel of it, you will know why it is different. Insulflex is heat insulator.
while i was typing this post, and also at the same time googling, got more info already. basically i see a lot of ppl says apply 1st layer vibration damping material (meaning high mass material) (like STP gold and SilentCoat Vibro Damping??), then 2nd layer sound damping material (dense foam/spongy material) (like Insulflex and Silentcoat Isolator??), for best result. [KS] Yes. After you dampen the vibration, there will still be some noise left. That's why you apply sound insulator.so... your ProPad is normally used as the 1st layer? and then i top-up myself with another layer of insulflex? since insulflex is originally designed for heat insulation, it can protect the Propad also i think. OR, insulflex 1 layer on the outer side firewall, then high mass material on the inner side. or is my understanding actually wrong already? lols my mind can't stop thinking. [KS]Yes on Propad, the choice of using Insulflex is yours. You can decide how you want to do it, just make sure the one applied in engine bay is fire-retardant. My suggestion is you don't need to work from engine bay, just do it from the cabin will do.

Bro, I plan to soundproof my existing grand livina, full car.
Can suggest the combination of materials required? Also, don't have the talent of DIY, possible to do the soundproof or recommend a reasonable shop to do it? Thank you.

QUOTE(MyWifeCar @ Dec 5 2014, 11:39 AM) You can use Propad to dampen the door. 1 box per door for Saga. i see, so do i apply at the door panel (i.e the plastic) or the door itself? and does propad tend to absorb moist and water? did some research on 3m thinsulate and found out that it also has some thermal insulation properties, i have also pin point some of the things im looking for they are: -reducing the humming noise where i cant hear the back passenger voice. -if possible dampening external noise. my budget is roughly rm300. and my target area is the door. and if theres extra maybe the part where the back speaker is. out of these two material (propad and thinsulate) which one would you recommend? Propad and Thinsulate work differently. You want to dampen the vibration or insulate the sound?

QUOTE(kingsing84 @ Dec 11 2014, 06:15 PM) oh yes, im driving a proton savvy. just applied 2 front doors only. For Savvy, I would have improved the floor as well. But for your question, the sponge thing=Sound insulator=Something similar to 3M Thinsulate.... Is not a must can something that can improve your door soundproofing. Normally shop would just do it, if your budget permits. Something that you can improve further if you want something more from door soundproofing.

KS, a few questions if I may ... QUOTE(MyWifeCar @ Jun 14 2009, 04:20 PM) Package #1: 1 set Noise Plug, 1 box Propad and 2 strips SB™ 3mm Foam (~6"x3 feet) * What is ' SB™ 3mm Foam' ? * Noise Absorption Mat - Performance wise, how does it compare to Mass Loaded Vinyl ? * For the front floor of a wira, how many pieces of Propad & NAM will be required?
