nah u made your points, and they did make sense..or cents if u prefer. tongue.gif
in the beginning yes i thought JT was taking an unusually long time to brush off city's second/third bid. as time went by i began to recall how players engineer new and improved contracts in similar fashion. its no big secret and a lot of players have done it in the past. but JT has come out and said he hasn't been offered a new contract, and it was never the focus of his discussions with roman, while he still has 3 years left of his deal to run.

so i for one am pleasantly surprised he's more concerned with the futures of senior players around him as well as the direction the club is taking under roman's vision. heterosapiens made a good point in saying our captain probably wanted assurances that carletto will be cut more slack than the previous managers to ensure further stability. predictably, all the tabloids have been churning out that terry has 'succeeded' in getting his new (insert obscenely huge number here) - per week contract as a result of his clever silence but that certainly doesn't seem to be the case at all.

now if in the event he does get offered a new deal, we all know that the rags will proudly proclaim they saw it coming from a mile away. but here is where chelsea fans will believe his love for the club never diminished. based on his pre-season performances, his celebrations with his teammates who scored and even his involvement in a 'dance-off' competition that was held for our youngsters when tabloids were busy announcing he's inching closer to city. i watched all of these closely and i must say his expressions and body language was not of someone who was unhappy or having any problem with people within the club.

he looked as happy as anyone, and that's a fact the papers conveniently overlook. u can only hide your emotions for so long, before your true self is exposed. from what i saw, JT wasn't hiding anything after all. so here's to him staying a true blue for life. smile.gif

IMO, JT did consider the move, considering the fact that Man City is an interesting project (locally in the UK, as compared to Real Madrid), and the fact that his wages will be doubled, plus signing on fee, who wouldn't consider? Also, JT was also waiting for the MC 'extraorbitant' bids, that didn't happen eventually, may be more media drivel spun out during crazy season. Thus, when the bids did not materialise, what better time then now to release a statement stating the obvious? Again, this is purely my opinion, and I don't force anyone to agree to this, just bringing it up for discussion's sake. There is always another side to one story, just don't look at it from one angle. The truth may hurt sometimes, even if some of us refuse to believe it.

JT's silence thus long may prove detrimental to him in the long run, much like the Gerrard affray saga, whereby even though found innocent, guilt thoughts will always linger around him, considering the fact that he was the only one NOT getting the guilty rap, even if the others pleaded guilty. And with JT, there will always be some amongst us that will question his loyalty now, even if he decided to stay with us...for the time being. Lesson to be learnt here is that no one is ever bigger than the club, be it JT, JM or anyone else for that matter. It has always been Chelsea from the start, to the present, until the end. smile.gif

i hope he'll stay till the end of his career. sports mag around the world said that he's 2nd after maldini as the best defenders in the world. now maldini has retired, obviously he's at the top of his career as world no.1 best defender in the world. Not just City, i bet almost all EPL clubs want him in their squad. be it spanish, italian or bundes liga everybody want a charismatic leadership type of player in their squad list.

I never doubt his royalty even after JM being sacked, a lot of rumors saying that he'll eventually will follow him in the end he stayed. so do lampard and other chelsea players. for these chelsea players, stamford bridge is the only home for them to play the game with all their heart out. I don't give a damn about tabloid nice fake and false statements over the net and press. last time when it's about kaka coming here, i already knew that it's almost impossible for him to be here since milan would think it thousand times before hand him over to one they call betrayer. yeah he's our mr carlo. and with Real's big offer, it's the best bargain that will be the sole reason for not letting kaka go to england.

in JT case, i really glad that he choose the love for fans than money.

Congratz for the 2-0 win...DiSanto..Yes!

John staying is better than mega signing...cuz he is the core..

and for me Zhirkov start the BPL or not is depend on the Reading game....I hope the tragedy with Reading will not repeat..

any1 ever wonder where Joe Cole willplay in the 4-Diamond-2 formation?

What happen to Scott Sinclair...from a striker to a winger now a midfielder?

Hmm..any1 remember Cech head injury...?

QUOTE
Head injury

On 14 October 2006, Čech and Reading midfielder Stephen Hunt both challenged for the ball inside Chelsea's penalty area in the first minute of a league match at the Madejski Stadium. Hunt’s knee hit Čech's head, leaving the keeper dazed. Čech was immediately taken off and replaced by Carlo Cudicini, who himself was knocked unconscious later in the same game. Captain John Terry ended up going in goal for the remaining minutes. Čech underwent surgery for a depressed skull fracture.[12] Initially unaware of the seriousness of the injury, the doctors later reported that it nearly cost Čech his life,[13] and as a result of the collision, he suffered intense headaches and was warned by his doctor that returning too early could be fatal.[14] Speaking shortly afterwards, Čech’s father claimed his son would be out of football for a year.[15]

Chelsea manager José Mourinho blamed Hunt for Čech's injury, saying:

"The challenge was a disgrace. He is lucky to still be alive."[16]

We don’t need any more signings this summer - we have a deep squad of which most is fit, two world class players on every position, a legendary coach and an ever-lasting hunger for trophies. Who can spoil our party at the end of the season? Arsenal? Kids can’t win it! Scousers? They’re just ridiculous, everyone knows that, they will melt as some point as they always do. United? Maybe, but their squad is a lot weaker without Carlitos and the Slave and last season we lost by a margin…I believe we can forget about the City.
Prem will be blue!

it was a dark, dark day indeed. indeed cech is lucky to be alive. its nice to see him looking pretty sharp in pre-season. hopefully a good sign of things to come.

ichi you're late. this is highly uncharacteristic of u tongue.gif
damn straight highlight of the match was di santo's goal and assist! rclxm9.gif

based on my humble assessment of di santo so far -

finishing - initially very good in the reserves, now he needs to rediscover that confidence. at the moment its just 'good.'
positioning - superb
speed - fast enough
first touch - very good
dribbling - room for improvement
workrate - superb

he was very nervous by the look of his face that day. anyway he guarded very well for the last 5 minutes. but that was the most darkest day of our squad. losing 2 keepers in one match. we lost cech for a very long time. and now we go no more cudicini

yeah and i misspelled it wrongly. hilarious.
from the look of it we don't need anymore superstar signings.

wonder if we can lure old time legend mr maldini or our zola into our squad

he also kena knocked on the head like cech. if u watch that game ah u will also say it's like all been set up. he's been knocked pretty hard until he falls on the ground hopelessly. games being halted for about more than 10 minutes, before terry decided to wore hilario's kit. it's truly a moment where i felt the angriness has boiled up on reading's players. they didn't play as a footballer. they seems like they only wanted to knock both keepers on the first place. during that time cech has so may clean sheet and considered the best goalkeeper of EPL and 2nd in the world after gianluci buffon

Cudicini swallowed his tongue in the process. A horror of a game for sure.
