I did a quick check on APOEL FC and found out that Nuno Morais is in the team. If you all remember, this guy had shared a short history with us. He was signed into the reserves back in 2004 by JM. Hardly used in the 1st team. I can't even remember much about his 1st team appearance but wiki says it is less than 20 minutes in total against Man Utd and Everton at the Bridge. He left on a free transfer in 2007.

nuno morais, yeah we got sum good names long time ago. tiago mendes, hernan crespo all the name and not forgeting andrian mutu as well.

anyway. the hardest in this group would be the stubborn FC PORTO. some of our players also might have some memorable moments there soon

Group C is the group of death, imagine FC Zurich putting up with the likes of Milan, Real and Marseille (all ex-European Cup/UCL Winners!)

We had a pretty ok group if I must say, at least no need to travel so far as to go to Russia or Turkey.

but real and milan isnt doing very well recently? the champions league this season cannot be based on their previous achievements right.

i still think that we're in quite a tough group. porto has been performing really well. i saw the game where they played against man utd last season, our defense seriously needs to buck up. and atletico has very good players that might take our spot if we're not on top form.

Ribery saga again and this time with possibilities..

cuz Robben to Bayen and the already got Bastian...no place for Ribery...and he dont prefer to lay deep playmaker role..

BILLIONAIRE BACKS UEFA BUDGET
Abramovich keen to stop big-spending City

By Soccernet staff

August 28, 2009

Chelsea's billionaire owner Roman Abramovich is backing a UEFA proposal that would scupper the efforts of big-spending Manchester City to dominate English and European football.

Abramovich, who has spent approximately £700m on transforming the Blues into one of football's big hitters over the last six years, has been named by UEFA president Michel Platini as one of the key agitators behind his proposal to limit football clubs' spending power.

City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who bought the Premier League club in September 2008, has spent £120m in this transfer window alone and it would appear that Abramovich would support an initiative to prevent City from following the very same route that he used to make the Blues a football powerhouse.

The Russian is backing Platini's plan that proposes clubs can only spend what they earn in football revenues and that any club which does not balance the books in the next three years could be kicked out of European competitions.

The UEFA chief said: "It's mainly the owners that asked us to do something: Roman Abramovich, Silvio Berlusconi [Milan] , Massimo Moratti [Internazionale]. They do not want to fork out any more.

"Manchester City can spend £300m if they want to but if they are not breaking even in three years then they cannot play in European competition. I haven't spoken to Manchester City about this and I don't remember meeting their owner, but I'm sure I will. Roman Abramovich is a football person and passionate about the game. He loves football. He has come to me and said that we must do something about this."

"It doesn't matter if one team doesn't agree, because this is what the clubs want."

Chelsea limited spending to £23m in the transfer window this summer as Abramovich felt the effects of the global credit crunch.

yep that's right. fuhh just glanced at our first three games posted by krk24, and what a relief to see the first few tough matches against atletico and porto are at HOME! no drogs and bossy vs apoel fc away during the 2nd game, but that's not the one we're worried about are we? i'm pretty confident the home crowd can spur us on when we face the dangerous porto and unpredictable atletico! ahh i see a silver lining already biggrin.gif

haha good point. but if it turns out to be true, i wouldn't be surprised. man city have the thickest wallet in the transfer market right now. its only natural that other clubs will try and 'curb' that if possible. if roman really did speak to platini, he's only voicing out what all the other managers with limited budgets are thinking (i.e : all clubs besides city and real madrid) . yes madmoz you're right we've spent some silly money in the past, but that rings true for all the other members of the top four as well  smile.gif

sigh..gotta admit i was kind of looking forward to sheva getting in some playing time and sweating blood for chelsea. but i guess regular playing time is a top priority for him at this stage of his career. as it stands, i think sturridge will be the most fired up upon hearing the news. it means he's that closer to getting his name on the first team sheet, and it shows we're seriously considering him to be part of our future. so there're two sides to this story  hmm.gif

do you guys think that during the absences og drog, sheva might jump in to partner anelka?
would be a good treat to our opponents rite?
hope sheva stays for at least few months till this year..

it's a pity how sheva who played so gloriously under CA has been told by the man himself that he is free to go. it's like a master who doesnt want to waste his disciple's time anymore.

sigh.

It is a good move indeed, it will open up more opportunities for youngster and reserve.

Youngster tend to stay away from Chelsea because lack of opportunities in first team.
