Looks like Xtreamer Pro is the killer for HDX-BD1, I might buy it instead of setting up a new HTPC if xtreamer Pro can really deliver what they promised in the new firmware.

Bro, those are Sigma Design chip lar...(everybody knows that Sigma Design chip can passthrough DTSMA liao ma, like Dvico TViX) pls tell me which RealTek HD Media Player can support DTSMA now?? and everyone knows that all manufacturer from all Brand like ACRyan PlayOn!HD, Mede8er and even Dvico TViX M6600N+ & TViX N1+ are waiting for RealTek (Tai kor) to release latest SDK to support DTSMA and why the previous RealTek chipsets is not support DSTMA?? I think you guys need to ask RealTek... and seems like all manufacturer kena cheat by RealTek taikor and that's why RealTek come out with (+) version to support DTSMA.. and now the hardware (RealTek chipset with +) is ready for DTSMA but still waiting for SDK from RealTek...no choice lar..just like computer from Acer, Dell, HP waiting for Intel to release latest SDK for further development and productions... thumbup.gif

For consumer like us, we buy stuff from vendor, so we complaint to the vendor, we don't care who is behind the vendor, because it's the vendor responsibility to deliver the promises. Xtreamer did say they can do DTS-HD MA bitstreaming in the beginning and stated it in their web site (of course now they have removed it after they realized they cannot deliver it).

Bought the Xtreamer sidewinder last week from hdwarexpert.

The Xtreamer Sidewinder is able to play DTS-HD MA and TrueHD audio via HDMI to my Denon 2310, I'm streaming from my opensolaris NFS share.

However, I faced this HD audio issue, it stutters when playing BD-ISO if enable HD audio pass through, only certain BD-ISO has this issue. if play it in M2TS format, it is fine.

some more, the movie jukebox doesn't support network share, a little bit disappointed with it.

Do you mean that you want to use jukebox on your PC?
*
I was wrong, xtreamer movie jukebox does support network shares, the requirement for movie jukebox is it needs an internal storage such as usb flash, internal 2.5" hdd or usb hard disk to store jukebox files.

So is it confirmed now the Xstreamer Pro or Sidewinder can bitstream both HD audio Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA now ?
*
Yes, it is confirmed. as least for my xtreamer sidewinder, it is capable to bitstream Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA to my Denon 2310.

however, for certain movies, the sound will stop at certain point, and need to rewind for 10 seconds in order to resume the sound. it is still has some bugs.

I just run a wire LAN ftp speed test for my xtreamer sidewinder

Sender : Opensolaris svn 134
Receiver : xtreamer
Network switch : Dlink 8 ports gigabit switch
Cable : Cat 6
File : 345MB avi file
ftp speed result : 30 - 31 Mbps

The ftp speed is maintain at 30Mbps all the time, not even 50% of 100Mbps bandwidth, no wonder when I play the high bit rate BD (>30Mbps), the movie keep stuttering. I checked the xtreamer forum, some of the forumer also had the similar result. the xtreamer admin admits that they aware of this issue. hopefully they will resolve it in future firmware release.

Now I only can play those high bit rate BD movies from USB hard disk, troublesome.

hmmm... i wonder hw u cud get 30-31Mbps speed...
im using filezilla & my upload/download average speed is around 3 ~ 3.5Mbps only (wireless N).
i tried connecting XTP directly to my PC via lan cable (cat5) & speed is around 5 ~ 6Mbps only. doh.gif
cud u share some tips pls. tengs! notworthy.gif

- oh ya, another thing. even when XTP under USB slave mode, d read/write speed is around 18 ~ 27Mbps only.
*
If you only get 3-6Mbps, I doubt you can play bluray movie from network share.

please take note that the unit is Mbps, not MBbps (Bit versus Byte)

apparently truehd is working flawlessly in mkv now !
*
Not only TrueHD, DTS-MA also get supported in MKV. actually xtreamer supports mkv much better than other format.

My Xtreamer is connected to Dlink NAS via LAN cable.  NO internal HDD installed @ Xtreamer.

Recently I updated the FW to v2.5.2 and installed Jukebox.  I added my movies folder at NAS as favorites.  Then using online scraping to download the necessary movie posters and details.  After finished the scraping, I can see the nice movie posters and other movie info.  After restart the Xtreamer, all movie posters gone.

Anyone having this problem with NAS setup?  Any solution?
*
Go to jukebox configuration (System->Settings->Config), enable the local cache, this will save the posters, xml into a temp folder inside the jukebox binaries folder. it works for me.

ok tq
the things that bother me is need to carry the xtreamer to PC for movie files transfer since PC & xtreamer are in separate room.sometimes i transfer to portable HDD first, then copy to xtreamer but this is double job already...
any other good ideas..how you do it...
*
Xtreamer network performance is really so so only, sometimes I called it suck! it even cannot stream high bit rate bluray movies. the throughput last time I tested for FTP is around 30Mbps. so if you want to use network transfer for full hd movie, it takes few hours for a movie.

The solution if you don't want to use portable HDD is setting up a Network File Server. I used OpenSolaris ZFS file system as NFS server, and its performance is much better than xtreamer. once I uploaded full HD movies to my NFS server, my xtreamer and PC can watch movies streaming from my NFS, though sometimes xtreamer still unable to watch high bit rate bluray movies due to it poor network performance.

Looking at the specs with Dual Core Atom,... it could reach up to RM1.6k and above
*
If come with Windows 7 Home Premium OS, with the blu-ray software player, I think RM1600 is unavoidable.

RM1.6K HTPC, I would rather assembly my own HTPC.

They still didn't mention the slow network throughput issue when streaming video from NFS server, streaming BDISO will get stuttering. streaming m2ts file will get voice disappear occasionally and stuttering if it is high bitrate movies.

I suggest they should change the name to xplayer instead of xtreamer, cannot stream video properly. shakehead.gif

I also hope the new movie jukebox doesn't need internal HDD, the current jukebox required internal HDD, when put the internal HDD inside xtreamer, it will overheat and many issues will appear. ohmy.gif

What model have you tested and using Wifi or LAN?
*
xtreamer sidewinder, via LAN, I have reported the problem to xtreamer forum, and not only me encountered this issue, but also many others had it too. the forum moderator told us that they were aware of this issue but give no fix so far.

QUOTE(yangxi @ Apr 19 2011, 11:06 PM)
Realtek chipset limitation.  LAN/Wifi can't stream bdiso, 1080p format.    if 720p is ok.
*
Yeah...I heard it too, thinking jump ship to sigma chipset.

iXtreamer users, do you notice after updated to latest 2.7.0 Firmware, you can use Airplay from your Ipad with iXtreamer?
My iPad can see two devices in the airplay icon, but when switch to the xtreamer which connect to optoma hd20 via yamaha rx-v2067 amp, the xtreamer just switch the screen to Media Library screen and do nothing shakehead.gif shakehead.gif

*
My iPad IOS is 4.3.1, Apple products do not really need many steps to configure, so I believe the Airplay feature is not fully supported, otherwise, xtreamer will put a big banner to advertise it already.

my neck is getting longer, where is FW 3.0 for all Xtreamer ?
*
I have a feeling that it won't release FW 3.0 for old xtreamer, previously the xtreamer forum admin announced it will available for all model in August, and now it is end of October, they really get used to LIE!!! their attitude also make me sick and wanna puke on their face mad.gif

*
xtreamer firmware is not opensource, only the add-ons are opensource project like xtreamer live.

the old model of xtreamer such as sidewinder, mk1 has not received any firmware update since early this year. the firmware 3.0 for old model looks like hopeless although the official site said initially they would release it in August, and they ate their words again!!!

Xtreamer should learn on how to take care of their customers  mad.gif .
*
Xtreamer is notorious for its empty promises, when they announced they will release firmware 3.0 to all products, then after long waiting, they said it has technical difficulty to deliver it, and they don't want to release unstable firmware to end user. xtreamer, your products are in my boycott list!!!

The firmware 3.5 is available for Prodigy, but useless for old xtreamer owner, the old users are now like a orphan already.

The latest FW for my xtreamer sidewinder is 2.7.1 which was released in Feb, just found out and installed it, it enabled the airplay, although it works on Youtube, iTunes which are Apple built in apps, it doesn't work on my PPS and PPTV apps, sign... cry.gif want to use PPS to play TV series to my xtreamer also difficult!
