Hi guys,

I'm just wondering if any of you guys here could help me.

I've been searching for a media player for my room and looks like the xtreamer fits all the criteria I need (mostly on the price and support). Been looking around for some answer regarding the wireless which some user complain about the slow speed they experienced while streaming video files from their PC. Is this true? because one of my main criteria is the wireless. I just bought a small flat tv inside my bedroom to watch movie so i'm planning to stream all the video i have in my pc to my bedroom wireless.

Just some info that most of my movies are 720p and the file size range is in between 2gig - 6gig mostly and it would be lovely to play 1080p too if possible while streaming. Im using the Unifi modem which I believe is the wireless N router. My PC is Core 2 Duo 1.8ghz + 2 gig RAM ( it's around there i think and cannot play 1080 movies sad.gif ). Range between the proposed player position to my router is about 5-6m with wall in between. PC is connected using wire from router.

Any experience user can help is truly appreciated.

Thank you smile.gif

If you worry about wireless or long ethernet cable from modem. You can consider Power over Ethernet or PoE eg. Aztech HomePlug

Plug a pair of Homeplugs directly to switch socket outlets (1) at UNIFI modem (2) at Xtreamer. Then connect ethernet cable from the Homeplugs to UNIFI modem and Xtreamer respectively. Read the manual of Homeplug how to sync, pair these homeplugs. Once the LED is light up (healthy), there you go.

Please note to plug direct to switch socket outlet (to reduce electromagnetic interference or noise), I have tried extension, but the network speed and quality is not encouraging.

Hope it gives you another option.

I have a similar setup to yours and it works for me. BUT be prepared to do a lot of troubleshooting since the Unifi router is kinda crappy.
Read the xtreamer forums for more info on wifi connectivity.

Read UNIFI page at LYN forum, I did follow the same to bridge over UNIFI's modem which is crappy, now I am using TPlink wireless router which work flawlessly.

hmm, I couldn't find 2.7.0 firmware update in 'Xtreaming' for Xtreamer Pro.

Copy and transfer the 2.7.0 unzip folder into HDD, but fail to upload and install the firmware from System> Firmware update.

How to update?

dont update online...instead

go direct to the link i give and transfer it to 1GB thumbrdive if possibe (pls format it with fat 32).

then once ready plug in the thumbdrive then go to setting...and upgrade from there...easy bro..no hassle...coz if u update online chances the file get corrupted is high ! and u might end up updating the firmware using emergency pro....
*
I don't have 1GB thumbdrive, all >4GB thumbdrive sad.gif That's why I unzip and copy the file folder to Xtreamer Pro HDD, then go to System>Firmware Update, but couldn't locate any files.

If using thumbdrive, do I need to unzip and copy the folder into thumbdrive?

Thx in advance

auronthas,
you may unzip the firmware into your xtreamer root drive then follow these step to update the firmware.
Setting -> System -> Firmware Upgrade -> HDD -> Select Firmware -> OK
*
Thanks

I have tried unzip the firmware and copy the entire folder into xtreamer HDD via network sharing from my iMac.

But when I go into setting/system/firmware upgrade/HDD, I couldn't find and select any files.

Probably I need to use my PC to transfer instead of iMac due to FAT32 format? Will try to explore this weekend.

I think I knew the problem, it's MAC unzip and PC unzip problem.

Unzip @ Mac, it created a 2.7.0 folder with lots of files and which is not detectable @ Xtreamer Pro Firmware Upgrade.

Unzip @ PC, it created a single file which is readable and executable by Xtreamer Pro.

For HD streaming, you'll need:

For capturing :
HTPC
Hauppauge HD-PVR (for video capture)
HDFury2 or 3 (for HDCP stripping)
Windows Media Center Remote and IR Blaster (for channel changing)
DVBLink for HD-PVR plugin for Windows Media Center

For streaming:
DVBLink Network Pack (acts as UPnP server).
*
Hmm... It sounds complicated, though one just need the URLs of the Astro channels and get the online live streaming.

perhaps....it only can be used on iXtreamer models only as per info at forum.xtreamer.net with latest 2.7 FW.

Wonder why you cannot get it to work....
*
Confirm Xtreamer Pro with 2.7 FW not workable with iPad iOS 4.3.2

As of firmware version 2.0 our Xtreamer supports web interface for remote control .

The Xtreamer can now be controlled from the iPhone or any other mobile phone that has web browsing capability.

Simply browse to your device local IP (eg. 192.168.1.xxx) at our home network to be able to fully control the Xtreamer.

http://www.xtreamer.net/xtreamer/features/...-interface.aspx

You can have it installed in your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, and act on another remote, but this remote is using wifi (provided you have wifi router at home), hope it helps.

For Chinese Xtreamer fans smile.gif

Tons of Chinese Movies/Series/Live TV/Music Video/Music, etc.

Follow the following steps: -

a) Copy the attached zipped file into your PC/Mac, then unzip them.
b) Using FTP, copy the 'index.php' into your Xtreamer's subfolder,i.e. script/xtreamering folder. ( I did backup of my entire xtreaming folder in case it did not work smile.gif )
c) Then copy the two image files into script/xtreamering/image
d) Restart your Xtreamer
e) Go to Xtreamering, you should able to see 'Chinese TV' on the first line of your Xtreamering left hand menu.
f) Click it, and you will see the following pictures.

Enjoy the movies smile.gif

Are you able to stream the dramas smoothly?
*
With 5Mbps UNIFI, most of the drama are extremely smooth, some of them were splitted into 7 sections of each series, thus the video streaming files are smaller to be transmitted.

You can see the above video link that I recorded (2 minute plus) without buffering issues.

However, if watching Live TV, sometimes facing buffering problem.

Rtmp media (such as Taiwan 1st TV - 台湾壹电视)can be played very smoothly, mms media (such as HK TVB8) can not be played with current Xtreamer firmware, hopefully the next 3.0 firmware should be able to.

Hi,

Copy the index.php file directly into the xtreaming folder on my flash drive to replace the old one and added the two new picture files in the picture folder...can't get the Chines channels to display!

Did I do something wrong?
*
First, did you restart your Xtreamer after copying the files?

Second, not sure if it works from flashdrive, mine is HDD.

I just use my PC to copy the files into the HDD, and slot into Xtreamer PRo.

It works but my streamyx not fast enough to stream smoothly.
*
Sorry to say, one needs at least 5Mbps to play a smooth video streaming, >10 Mbps is perfect.

Live sports F1, EPL, La Liga as well?

Sorry, for paid-channel, I don't think you can watch them 'Live; only public/free channels

I am wondering if future Xtreamer firmware can provide us a feature to enter those TV channels' URL, and we can customize and save them as favourite. That's will be great !

I used to able to detect Xtreamer Pro HDD automatically from my iMac but I can't detect the HDD now. Weird!

But I still can view the HDD folders from Xtreamer Pro.

Even I key in the server IP address, no response from HDD. Please advise
