Yeah I guess there are people out there who use the full 5600DPI. But on a regular basis, or rather as their main DPI setting? Probably not tongue.gif

On a 24" full HD monitor, 2800DPI feels more than fast enough, at least for me. I have yet to try it on a 30" 2560x1600 monitor though (wallet not deep enough, at least not yet brows.gif ). But I doubt 5600DPI would ever feel natural, even on a mammoth display like that.

Just completed my Razer collection, bought a Mako and a Lycosa Mirror today.

I'm delighted with the Mako, but just a little disappointed with the Mirror. Should have gotten a 7G or G19 instead. Maxed out my budget with the other parts of my new rig, so bought the (relatively) cheap Mirror instead.

Oh well.. Reviews of the two coming up soon.

oh sorry, missed it. I think the Mamba feels much better than the DA too. The rubber covered indentation on the left side of the mouse really gives a a good grip for fast movements, compared to the flush plastic surface on the DA. The hump is lower too, which suits my hand, but maybe not others'.

As for my ring finger, I use it to grip the right side wall of the mouse, off the left click button. Really comfortable for me this way.

igor, why disappointed with the Mirror??

Well to be blunt, I just don't think it's worth the asking price. Maybe if it were priced like the Arctosa, then I can recommend it. The Arctosa is another joke product by Razer BTW.

The feel of the keys are not consistent, some overly soft, some alright, the others merely okay. And the noise it makes is quite noticeably more than a Dell Laptop's, or a Logitech G15v1's. It doesn't elevate high enough for me either.

But don't let my thought alone put you off the Mirror. Maybe it's just me. I know a lot of friends who would die defending their Lycosa/Lycosa Mirrors.

The hump is lower? It though its exactly the same shape except for the indents/grips? Btw, the sensor doesn't jitter on yours?
*
The shape is similar, but not exactly the same. The hump is lower, but not by much. Makes a big difference though.

And no, no jittering problem for me - on a Destructor, Firmware V1.06.

Alrighty then.. Will most definitely get one. The Mako is awesome for use during the day, but at night I'm afraid it would disturb my neighbours haha.

Hopefully it's priced like the Mamba here, less than the direct conversion of the US price smile.gif

congrats on your mako, u pair it with barracuda?

No, now just using the Mako with a SoundBlaster X-FI Xtreme Gamer card that was bundled with my motherboard.
I have to say, the sound card is quite underwhelming. Using it on Windows 7 RC 64bit, there's weird crackling noises when I navigate through Windows.

Well anyway the Mako by itself is flawless. Used if with an iPod and the music is fantastic.
When I have extra cash I'll spring for a proper soundcard.
Any suggestions on which card I should get?

Sorry went off topic for a while..

not sure where that crackling sound is coming from...guess from one of the vol settings too high.
im using audigy4 and it works fine.

unlike certain other comparable brands, the mako seems to work well with even lower quality cards.
*
I think it has nothing to do with the speakers. I've heard that that Creative SoundBlaster's drivers for 64bit OS are screwed up, causing crackling noises and even lock ups. So far it only makes the annoying crackle when going back and forth into folders and stuff. when playing windows default folder sound.

Lycosa Mirror driver works fine on my Windows 7 RC 64bit.
Try reinstalling. Or download the latest drivers from razerzone.

Get replacement mouse feet, preferably Hyperglides.
Your mouse's bottom surface should not be touching the pad/mat unless your mouse feet is worn out.

It has nothing to do with new/old.
UK Version Lycosas will have the bigger Enter key (spans 2 rows, in an upturned 'L' shape), while the US Version has the usual US keyboard layout with smaller Enter key.

Most, if not all, Lycosas available here are the US Versions. There should be a sticker on the box specifying what version that particular keyboard is.

Razer Orochi and Kabuto..

What the hell happened to their long lived tradition of naming mice/mouse pads after snakes/insects?

And the Orochi just doesn't excite me at all. Tried my ex's Razer pro|click bluetooth mouse and it was shite.
Maybe they've made this one properly gaming grade, like they did with the wireless Mamba, can't be sure until I've tried it myself.
If it's a 'proper' Razer mouse then I might get one for use with my laptop. My Copperhead is getting really old and my Lachesis is too large to be carried around. And I think the Salmosa is a joke, no offence to anyone here using it though.

But for my desktop I think I'll stick with my lovely (conventionally wireless) Mamba thank you very much.

Riiiight.. Razer's going mythical now eh..
Can't say I'm a fan of the new names though. Kinda spoils the whole family name integration thingy (or whatever).

@tomatoman
I think it's you who didn't get what Everdying was trying to say.

Anyways, same size as the Salmosa Asia? LOL, about the same as the Pro|Click wireless mouse then. Screw that, I'll never be comfortable with it.

If the Orochi has 2ms response time then that's good enough isn't it?
How many of us really use 1000Hz polling rate anyway?

And since it's designed for laptop gamers, well, so called gaming laptops can't play games the way it's meant to be played anyway (smoothly), so mouse response time isn't really much of an issue (even 4ms would be acceptable). Portability should be the main concern for laptop mice. But midget sized mice is a no no to me. The smallest I can go without pulling my hair out is aroundabout Krait's size.

but really, if someone is willing to drag their laptop around...im pretty sure their carrying bags have more than enough space for a nice mouse.
*
My 17" laptop bag is big enough to even store my Mamba with its charging dock and all, but the problem is that there isn't a way to chuck them in safely without damaging them (scratches, etc). And the Razer Lan pack can't fit my Lachesis, which is now collecting dust.

I meant my Lachesis is collecting dust. I'm using my Lanpack for my Copperhead.

Added on July 24, 2009, 4:16 pm"Gaming" laptop is a lost cause in my opinion. Bought a RM9k laptop 3 years ago with a GeForce Go 7900 GS (which was a monster back then), and it was good.. For 6 months. After that I had to reduce resolution/AA/AF to maintain playable framerates. And it's not upgradeable. Since then I've lost hope on gaming laptops.

Now I only use laptops for light gaming and work, so ultimate mouse precision/response time is hardly a top priority. That goes to looks and portability.

No stand? Where did you get it from? Weird that the unit Everdying got had it, but not yours.

@ everdying,
The Megalodons that are available here, do they come in the huge box like the one you reviewed, or the smaller packaging like in Razer's unboxing video?

Is there a different edition of the Megalodon that comes with the stand then?
