You want more bad news, here:
QUOTE I was unable to get the alpha to work as a "non-steam game" if the same happens with the beta, I will be waiting for confirmation that the final product will be able to. If it doesnt, well, I will probably wait for a sale if I get it at all. Not putting it on steam was bad, but I assumed I could just launch the game through the normal .exe if I purchased retail. This is really beginning to annoy me. Best, 3Ball BF3 cannot be added as non Steam game. SURPRISE!!!! Having different accounts are bad enough, like GFWL, Origin Account, UPlay, Battlenet, Trackmania account, Steam and Shit. Now, everyone wants to extend it to have different DD systems where you need different client to launch the game. FYI, i am not hating BF3 for no reason, but i do not agree with these shit i am getting. I have 8GB RAM, but Origin is definitely not as lean as Steam, as it is taking up 90MB as i am writing. Steam takes 25MB. Just imagine those with less than 3GB RAM with 5 more of this kind of DD. Shall we all go back to Xfire? And hope Xfire can launch BF3 Beta. Added on August 12, 2011, 8:33 pm QUOTE(hakimix @ Aug 12 2011, 08:13 PM) To be honest, I can put up with that. Currently I have Steam, Origin, GOGDownloader, GFWL, Desura and Capsule. Not counting YUPlay, Rockstar Social and others. But yeah would prefer something that can enable me to keep track all of my games in different clients. I have pretty much the same thing, but imagine that you have to run all of them in different software each time with different friends list. Thats nightmare.Impulse is developing their Reactor and it will be released soon, which is another Steam wannabe. I bet GFWL wont sit there doing nothing, sooner or later, they will do that too. How much you can put up with more and more Steam like software? This post has been edited by Cheesenium: Aug 12 2011, 08:33 PM |

QUOTE(MichaelJohn @ Aug 12 2011, 08:39 PM) I know. This is stupidly inconvenient for gamers. Added on August 12, 2011, 9:02 pm QUOTE(DarkknightDK @ Aug 12 2011, 08:41 PM) Lets say 2, 3 years from now, i can bet with you that Activision, THQ, Square Enix, Blizzard, Konami, GFWL, everyone and their mum will have their own DD. How much fun you gonna have then? You have such shallow thinking. That was exactly the same as what Activision did with MW2 where they increased standard PC game price from 50USD to 60USD. Then, there are millions and million of idiots like you:"Meh, only MW2 is 60USD" and buy the game with no complains. Look what happen now, almost every game from Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Rage and so on are 60USD now, because those idiots back then think it's alright for MW2 to be 60USD, which sent the message to the rest of the industry that PC gamers do no mind 60USD games. As these companies arent running for charity, but they need to earn money. So, they increased the price, hence, now you have to pay 60USD for BF3. BF3 have the capabilities to pull off the same thing again, except this time with separate DD for different publisher. If BF3 is successful with Origin, you'll see more publishers pulling out from other DDs and start their own one. Maybe i should quit gaming, as gaming is getting incredibly idiotic. The spineless sheep mentality is incredibly strong in this industry. This post has been edited by Cheesenium: Aug 12 2011, 09:02 PM |

QUOTE(ProtonFrost77 @ Aug 12 2011, 09:14 PM) @Cheesenium we can't do anything about their price...if the game good ppl dun mind pay high.. So, now you mind having 2 or more DDs running at the same time too?like foods..if it's taste good, sell at double price ppl still buy. I mind, because i hate having so many bloatwares running on my PC. |

QUOTE(DarkknightDK @ Aug 12 2011, 10:11 PM) Chill dude.. If the developers want the games to run within their own respective company's DD..There is nothing much we could do unless download it, buy it from there and play for it..Sure, I may be an iddiot for saying I have 2 DD only and I am waiting for more to come, but what choice should I have? I love games and will still have to download and install whatever "Tom'd***'Hairy" BS in order to play the game...Unless I go with your last resort which is quit gaming.. I love games, but i wont let publishers screw me over with their ridiculous schemes. If they went overboard with it, you can choose to not buy that game. Been there, done that. If DICE went too far, i just skip BF3. It's just a damn game anyway.Origin is alright, as i used it to get my free Shift 2 DLC. It's not too slow, and even with PPS, it still login just fine. Download speed is on par as Steam. Just that it still looks a bit unpolished. I give Origin a benefit of a doubt. Lets see how is the Beta first, before i dump my $10. It seems pretty annoying so far if you need Origin to launch the game. QUOTE(AlphaBeta @ Aug 12 2011, 10:18 PM) Are you effing serious? I didnt play the alpha, but thats what i have read.Edit: nevertheless, it wont stop me from getting it. Screw EA and dice for putting drugs on me. But i think bf3 is gonna be my last 'serious' game. Next year is my final year in uni, after tht have to work and no more time to play game or is rather childish to play games at the age of 22. Dont like it at all. Feels stupid, IMO. QUOTE(hakimix @ Aug 12 2011, 10:43 PM) FTFY. I am already getting more indies than AAAs this year.Support indie then. It's rare that indie developers screw their customers. So if you want to buy AAA games, get them at discounted price a year later. Most of the issues will probably be solved and probably you can get GOTY version or bundled with shitload of DLCs. *hint* Tripwire Interactive is an independent developer. *hint* Thats why i have been thinking of getting RO2 too because KF have been awesome for me. The gun play is solid, and i am looking forward to RO2. Some AAA is just filled with shit these days. |

QUOTE(Fatimus @ Aug 13 2011, 03:27 PM) Hmmm but so far i always stick to one account only, somehow I don't mind. More or less like TF2, KF, CoD, and so on.And prevent some aimbotos and hackers, no ? I wont complain on that. except, it doesnt hurt to have more options. My main problem now is, do we really need Origins to launch the game, and thats the only way to launch the game? |

QUOTE No it didn't? Neither BF2 nor Bad Company 2 nor it's Vietnam expansion required it any external software or services to play. Yes, you needed an EA account, but whether you previously had one or not all you had to do was type in your email and password. Also, having played the alpha, I don't mind battlelog at all. I think everybody was surprised how well it worked. Personally it was the best server browser they've ever made, and between it and the other services on Battlelog I honestly wouldn't mind it being required. Having played the alpha the game is worth it imho. Found this on Ars Technica. If BF3 needs Origins and Battlelog, but it also have a great server browser. Maybe thats isnt that bad. Lets just hope BF3 retail will not need Origins to launch. |

^ Sigh.
Looks like Origin is going to be shoved into my face then. Added on August 14, 2011, 5:45 pm QUOTE listen alot of what has been said about origin is wrong, many people are judging it while its in its beta form, I have played the battlefield 3 alpha with origin and the web browser set up, trust me PC players are in for a treat. if you havent had your chance with it yet just wait a few more weeks an your going to get a chance with the open beta, Origin's set up is far greater to valve's piss poor steam effort, for one it just looks so much more fresher, its simple to use and everything ive downloaded so far has downloaded fast as f***..... unlike steam, also valves secrurity is so bad a 4 year old could hack it and mod mw2, for me MW2 hs been destroyed my the steam hook up, i think they should of left the set up from cod 4 an ran with it.... but thats a diffrent topic haha Aslong as EA can make sure thier security issues are kept on top of the sad little fat lay about crying hackers then its going to be a good setup! anyway guys if you get the chance to have a bash at the battlelog you will see that it is going to change the way you play, my opinion is that its going to improve it, others may piss and moan becase its not running with steam but there just fan boys lol Another positive feedback on the browser "shit" and Origin. Seems like no Alpha testers hate Origin requirement. This post has been edited by Cheesenium: Aug 14 2011, 05:45 PM |

QUOTE(MichaelJohn @ Aug 14 2011, 07:09 PM) And i thought Battlelog would be like NFS's Autolog. Autolog never sound so retarded on paper, but extremely useless in practise. I am hoping Battlelog is the other way round. It sounds so weird playing a game with no in-game main menu. The case mod is awesome, though.
