UPGRADING OF TM NETWORK

Dear Valued Customers,

Telekom Malaysia Berhad ™ wishes to inform our customers that we will be migrating our network infrastructure to a new platform. Rest assured that this network enhancement exercise will enable us to improve our network performance and lift up the overall customer experience.

The migration exercise will take place on 18, 19, 22 & 23 July 2010 between 12.00 am until 6.00 am.

As a result, customers using TM’s Homeline, Internet, Data and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV or HyppTV) services nationwide may experience minor service interruptions during the stipulated period.

Details of the affected services are as detailed below:

Therefore, all our HSBB triple play services such as High Speed Internet, Video and Voice over Internet Protocol nationwide may experience minor service interruptions during the stipulated period. The consortiums will be carrying out repair works on site on Sunday, 10 October 2010 and the works are expected to be completed on Saturday, 16 October 2010.

UPDATE - INTERNET SERVICES DISRUPTION DUE TO CABLE WORKS ON SMW4


Referring to our earlier website announcement on the repair works on cable faults detected on the South East Asia Middle East Western Europe (SMW4) submarine cable networks linking Malaysia to Europe (EU) on Friday, 29 October 2010, Telekom Malaysia Berhad ™ wishes to announce that there has been a delay in the restoration of Internet services due to technical problems at the repairing stages.
Due to the delay, full recovery of the affected services is now expected to be on Thursday, 4 November 2010.

Hence, during the restoration process, there may be some interruption to traffic to the Europe, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Thailand carried through the cable networks.

Customers using Internet, data and telephony services nationwide may experience some degree of service degradation such as slow browsing and high latency while accessing international websites hosted in the Europe. Customers using TM International Direct Dial (IDD) and Toll Free telephony services, Virtual Private Network (VPN) and other critical business applications linked to the Europe, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Thailand may experience some level of service degradation.

TM will continue to provide necessary updates on the progress of the restoration works, and would like to elicit feedback from our customers on the quality of service experienced.

Telekom Malaysia Berhad ™ wishes to announce that there has been a disruption to its Streamyx and UniFi services since 1.30 p.m., 8 December 2010. However, it is a localised problem affecting customers in certain areas as per below.

Referring to our earlier announcement on 19 December 2010 on the degradation of our Internet services, Telekom Malaysia Berhad ™ wishes to inform its Internet services customers that the degradation is linked to cable faults on the Asia America Gateway (AAG): a submarine cable network linking Malaysia and other Asian countries to the United States (US). TM and the other operators in the AAG consortium will be carrying out repair works on site on Wednesday, 29 December 2010 and the works are expected to be completed on Monday, 3 January 2011.

TM has taken pro-active steps to minimize service degradation by diverting traffic to other networks to reduce congestion, thus, minimizing the impact to our users.

However, despite these initiatives, customers using Internet services nationwide may experience some degree of degradation such as slow browsing and high latency while accessing international websites hosted in the U.S. and Europe due to shortage of bandwidth capacity to international. Customers using Virtual Private Network (VPN) and other critical business applications linked to the U.S. and Europe may also experience some level of service degradation.

TM will make further announcements on the progress of the restoration works.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the disruption but would like to assure customers that it is undertaking all necessary measures to restore the service to our customers as soon as possible.

Telekom Malaysia Berhad ™ is pleased to announce that the repair works on the Asia America Gateway (AAG): a submarine cable network linking Malaysia and other Asian countries to the United States (US) has now been completed.

TM has already recovered its bandwidth capacity for its traffic to the US carried through the cable networks. TM Internet, data and telephony services have resumed normal operations since Monday, 3 January 2011. All international links have been fully restored and our services have resumed back to normal.

NETWORK DISRUPTION TO THE UNITED STATES

Telekom Malaysia Berhad ™ would like to inform our Internet customers that we are currently experiencing network disruptions at one of our international peering routers in the United States (US).
Hence, some customers may have experienced some problems in accessing certain content hosted in the USA. TM has since diverted traffic away from the link and the problem seems to have resolved. In the meantime, TM will continue to monitor the network to ensure that customers experience uninterrupted service.

TM apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the disruption and would like to thank its customers for their understanding and patience during the affected period.
