Dude.. try to bake the card in the oven @180C for 5~7 minutes if u want to revive it back... it worked for my NV7900GTO... the card started to create artifacts and BSODed when entering windows.. after baking it.. bang!... now it works flawlessly... stressed the card with furmark, ATItool, 3dmark... didnt encounter any problem so far...

dat is if the problem is cause by the solder.

heating it to ~200C for ~ 10 minutes belief to b enough to melt the solder & joint it bck.

lol thats like taking a risk...if u correctly melted the solder (which u wont have any control of it) u'll get a good card after baking but if the melting process goes wrong....there goes ur money etc....

Wont the baking melts the capacitors or pcb? gosh this is a crazy idea

10 minutes is ntgh.

if u baked @ those temperature for longer time, talking bout days, den the chemical reaction would produce poison gas.

my asus 4850 stock heatsink also uses grey/silvery thermal paste, almost exactly like in your picture, one blob in the middle and not evenly spread. they simply hentam one i tell you.

Owh really shakehead.gif

Mine was looking like the person who was dripping the paste had an argument either with his boss or spouse.... laugh.gif Maybe before that he also apply that much for the card before mine, then supervisor came and shout " Oit! ingat thermal paste nie bapak ko beli ker?"

solder made from tin lead alloy usually melts at 240C...

It's worth a shot when your GC's warranty is already over...

game setting: all max out, 8xAA, 1920*1080 resolution, vsync on wit refresh rate capped @ 60Hz
h/w setting: refer to my siggy.

b4 dis on 9.8 - average of ~45fps
