I got this 2nd hand proc, outside says p4


After assembling it, i got this...



Anybody care to explain?

CPU-z bug?

from cpu-z screenshot it is due to ES (engineering sample) which shldnt be released to public at all.. only few ways to get it, steal from intel and sell it to public. for ES, if you arent lucky, u might get the 1 that is buggy. see, it shows 6ghz

btw, it could be another factor too, like, cpu-z buggy, the processor have something wrong with information chip or motherboard or something else

Got 6.0Ghz processor?

i got it from a seller in lowyat, still asking him why like dis ><
but core speed shows 1.4ghz wor, which one correct?
A. 2.4 Ghz (stated on the hardware)
B. 6.0 Ghz (WTF?!?!, Processor Name)
C. 1.4 Ghz (Core speed)

I think 2.4Ghz as stated on top of the processor.
6.0Ghz I dunno what proc is this.

try stress the processor see?

try use everest ultimate?

if u mean stress it by overclocking it, i think my mobo cant overclock it eh...

is 1.51 the latest version of cpu-z ?

download prime95, stress the cpu, lets see whether it shoots back up to 100x60... if becomes 6ghz, congratulations, u got urself one of the good ES, and go get better motherboard, overclock it kao kao and put ur name in ripping.org

p4 to xeon,
u are lucky man...

of course is core speed la..

more like mainboard problem (BIOS)
most Xeon during P4 generation have HT except low speed models

this P4 should run 18x133 = 2.4GHz round up
but why got support EM64T, i google this P4 SL7YP don't run 64bit

first prototype xeon or p4 mayb.. and cpu-z dont recognize it

so, if i change my mobo, i will get 2.4ghz? the seller said this is northwood p4...

Just run super PI , give us the result will do

Try updating your mobo bios 1st....
but u need to check your mobo revision no. refer at this link http://www.ecs.com.tw/extra/productinfo/MB.htm
then pick appopriate BIOS for your mobo here... http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Downloads...enuID=6&LanID=0

Your processor suppossed to run at 2.4GHz 533MHz FSB(133MHz Internal)... with CPU/Bus ratio aka multiplier = 18

If updating the BIOS still doesnt fix the problem... u have to manually change your CPU PnP settings...

*Note: Flashing a BIOS is a risky process..

right click say core speed 1.4 ghz, but the name of the proc is Genuine Intel 6.00 ghz

My mobo is P4VMM2 V1.0, but i cant find any version in the ecs website, so i should choose v1.1A or v1.3

choose p4VMM V1.0?

Its an engineering sample , no matter what you do. Its still going to be like that. Someone sold you it , the processor is unlocked and you can actually overclock it to the max if you want to

Oh yeah , I am not sure but its strange to see a socket 478 with EM64T and SSE3 !

there are two actually... either mobo version or BIOS version.. where did get the version no. from? POST screen or on the board?

Check both...

By looking at the CPU-Z screenshot... it is impossible that u have that kind of proc.... 604-pin xeon? It cant even fit into your mobo.. that must be some mistakes., rite?.. probably CPU microcode bug or something... i dont know....... possibility your mobo can't identified your CPU properly...that's why i need u to update your BIOS....

Engineering Sample owez like that.. i dont think by updating bios could solve this bug.. but u can try it.. Good luck..

woops, V1.0 is mobo version, my BIOS version is 7.00T, but there's no 7.00T in the options as well.

try to stress ur cpu, if u lucky got to 6.00Ghz, u can pegang guiness world records !! lol, too excited

i used everest ultimate stress it for 3 hrs get nthing, so give up, later i use prime95

Unfortunately it seems that BIOS update for your mobo is unavailable. So no choice either
- u have to change the ratio and FSB clock manually... if your BIOS allows u to change those settings...
- change other board that support your proc...
- change other proc supported by your mobo...
