It does have plenty of advantage. On normal browsing and stuff maybe you won't feel it that much. But if you direct download something, the speed you get will almost be at full(1.5). Do a speedtest at streamyx.com. The speed you get there, is the max you can get if you download anywhere.

but then i only managed to get below 0.2+ MBps to servers in US, n it means my DD will be approximately around 100-200KBps rite?
i never had any opportunity to get over than 0.25 MBps..
what's the hit if only can get 2.0 MBps to local server since most of DD not came from any of it..
correct me pls

as u can see, my upload speed is much greater than the down speed:

These 'slow' speed means nothing. It just means that it's kinda slow browsing those websites. Like I said before, if you direct download something using a download manager, usually you'll get a fast speed.

It's like watching a youtube video on your browser. Most of the time it loads slow. But if you copy the youtube link, go to keepvid.com, paste the youtube link there, copy the link that came up after that, then paste the link from keepvid.com page into your download manager, the speed you'll get will be a lot faster.

anyone tried replacing streamyx default DNS with the ones found in http://www.opendns.com/
opendns is free and it might help when streamyx connection is down due to local DNS problems

Your request will be routed to OpenDNS. You can check whether you're using OpenDNS via this dynamic image:
