want to ask, swimming and running which burns more calorie?
some said running some said swimming.

lets say i run/jog for about 8km in 30minutes vs swim(breaststroke/leisure/fast for about 1hr.)
*
too general question. there are so many factors involved.
to make things simpler, which activity makes you more tired per unit time?

My BMR is 1850 and i can still put on weight. =(
any ideas on ideal BMR??
*
no such thing as ideal BMR. energy input more than output = increased weight.

atkin's diet may cause ketoacidosis, cholesterolaemia, acidaemia .

having an all meat diet does not mean unlimited calories because the body is not that efficient in converting protein to glucose. so it is actually equivalent to having a diet with lower calories.

as for what fuel the person use does not depend on the diet. brain uses ketone bodies and glucose, muscle in resting condition normally uses fatty acids and ketone bodies. it's just that excess carb is converted to fat efficiently and excess protein is not converted to glucose and fat efficiently as most excess protein product is excreted.

so my point is as long as the person is following a proper diet designed for weight loss and coupled with exercise, the person can lose weight as fast as a person on atkin's diet.

does not sweating when u do some light exercises (more towards balancing than cardio or strength training IMO) mean ur not burning fat?
*
you are burning fat also by doing nothing. its the amount of fat you burn that differs when you exercise and the post exercise period when you have increased metabolism.

Has anyone tried juice diet, only for breakfast? I think a complete juice diet for a whole day is too extreme for me. Does it work?
*
don't think so.
1) don't provide enough nutrient
2)diet that is unable to keep a person feel full is likely to fail.

Quick question guys. When going on a cross trainer or any cardio machines, if your heart rate is higher then the numbers recommended there, is it good or bad? Do you still loose weight? I asked a trainer and he said, the higher the better?  wacko.gif  unsure.gif

Cause when i see the diagram, it shows from x-y fat loss, and q-w cardio, e-r heart and so on.. just wanna clarify on this.

thanks
*
you lose weight when output more than input, as in you burn more calories than you are eating. no need to get complicated.
if you are a healthy person with no heart problem i think the higher the better.

i wanna ask a question.

if a person didn't take any sugar at all in a day continuously, in any form, will it effect health?
*
carb is a type of sugar, lack of carb in diet, the body will go into starvation. how it effects health depends on the duration. i wouldn't go into detail here. you may google the info on your own.

does 2 slices of gardenia bread can support glucose for whole day? or it depends on activity we use on that day?

does after all glucose are drained from body, it will use fat to produce energy?
*
depends on the activity.
wrong concept. fats and glucose are used by the body all the time. just that different tissues in the body uses different ratio of fats and glucose in different activity. some tissues uses mainly glucose as source of energy such as nervous tissues, lack of glucose in blood(normally due to pathologies) can cause severe negative effects to it. again i will not go into detail. google on your own.

does leaving the body into low blood sugar condition will effect health to people who doesn't have diabetes but having diabetes risks?

i saw my dad always have hypoglycemia since he injected insulin into hid body (using syringe) but no eat since have no appetite.

its the condition i don't want to see but have to several times a week.
*
well your brain, nervous tissues will start to starve if there's no source of sugar for more than 1 day. you will not be able to think properly, slow reaction time, ....... left untreated for too long can cause coma and death.

you don't inject yourself with insulin(hormone which lowers blood sugar) if you have hypoglycemia(low blood sugar) unless you want to die.

Hi fellas...

Im going to take the wedding photos end of next month so I try to shape up my body as much as I can until then. I read on the HIIT and try it out, here how I did it

Jogging: I run at medium pace for 45s and sprint it all out for 15s >> this last me around 4-5 min

Dumbbell: At home, I do as many reps as I can for 30s each, start from

Goblet Squat-->Single-arm dumbbell swing-->Push up-->Incline press-->Dumbbell row-->Dumbbell push press-->Sit up (all these sentence taken from Men's Health mag...so im not sure if its the real name for the exercise).

So how is the exercise above works? I do it 3 times a week. I know its quite late for me to do all that, that's why i just wan to make it as good as possible as (as i got flabby tummy). In term of food,

Morning: Soup noodles / chee cheong fun with warm water

Lunch: Rice (small portion) with vege and meat / noodles with warm water

Tea: Skip

Dinner: Rice (small portion) with vege and meat

Need the experts here to advise if there is any lacking in my exercise or I did it all wrong....
*
my 2cents
well, there's no right or wrong at the moment until the result can be seen.
duration of jogging can be and should be increased as your stamina increases.
aerobic and strength exercise can be done on alternating days 7 times per week if got time.
as for diet increasing protein intake and reducing carb can keep you full with less calories.
healthy snacks from time to time can keep you from hunger and overeating during meals.

Somebody told me that if i eat too much banana i will become fat. May i know is it true?
*
you get fat when calorie intake > calorie output.
so, you get fat when you overeat on any type of food.

3. Nourishment eaten in solid form: food and drink.

I have a question regarding calories intake.

It's generally obvious that the rule of losing weigth is calories out > calories in.

My question is regarding the calories in.

Say I take 1500cal of 'healthy food' (veges,  wholewheat bread, lean meat) and compare with 1500 of 'unhealthy food' (fried chicken, satay, bacon, nuggets).

Will it affect anything regarding on WEIGHT LOSS ONLY (disregarding other issues like malnutrition or unhealthy things entering the body)
*
well if we assume that all other factors are the same then in the end there's no difference actually.....but we all know too well, the difference between theory and real life.

I've been feeling terribly sorry for myself. I have finals coming near and am unable to go for gym like I used to. Stress have caused me to binge eat all the time. Though weight has not shown tremendous changes but I feel really bad doing it as it is against the regime.

I just thought if someone could share their experience on this and enlighten me abit on how to self control at times like this. sad.gif
*
1)have better time management
2)try not to starve yourself as in never be hungry
3)shift to healthier forms of snacks such as fruits and nuts
4)if above fails get someone you trust to control you and help you out, eg, a study-mate or room mate
