just a quick update :-

IGN review - 8.6
Gametrailers review - 8.6

overall impressions from reviews

Pros:
- good graphics/presentation style/soundtrack
- good gun/swordplay gameplay action
- ability/item upgrades keeps game fresh
- smooth 60fps framerate

Cons:
- doors in between sections of a level (ala. Metroid Prime) that mask some loading time
- short on other gameplay elements outside of the battle action
- short on replay value (other than the challenge modes per level)

You can consider Nyko Wand with built in M+. Regarding Red Steel 2, the Sword fight is still not 1:1 to your remote. I'm still dreaming for star wars light saber 1:1 duels like Wii Resort sword fight.

There was an interview for this matter. The game makers claimed that if the game is really controlled 1:1, you won't be able to play it due to lack of real-life swordfight skills. TL;DR, you need to be an excellent swordsman to play this game had it been 1:1.

I wouldn't be wanting 1:1 lightsaber duel if I were you.

lol, yeah...i read about the 1:1 swordfighting too...only swordmasters could handle this game and the sword fighting academy would use this game as training for their pupils...lol

anyway, it's a pretty cool game though...i wonder where's fragile in the market...XD

Still, if you want to see the true work of 1:1, go into the sword upgrade shop, look at an upgrade, and press A when you point at the sword. You'll be brought to a screen where you can preview the sword, and move it in accords to the movement of Wiimote. True 1:1 lies there.

well u will never get true 1:1 simply because there is no feedback. for example in real life if u swing and he blocks your swing will be interrupted by the block, and there is no way the wii mote can do that. not even sony move/ms natal can simulate that.

Added on March 31, 2010, 4:25 ambtw, saw this game in retail shop just 2 days after its release. tempted to buy but no budget yet. sad.gif but notice the ones i see r all bundled with wii motion plus. i am more interested in the game only minus wm+

Well, they could dumb down the AI a bit. Even the game itself give enough time for you to think before blocking vertically or horizontally. In fact Wii Resort swordfighting is quite good. Doesn't have to be sword master to complete all ten levels. Just keep retrain and sharpen your skill.

Perhaps you never understood what I really meant.

1:1 swordfighting is only for real life swordfighters, period.

You could dumb down the AI, but then, it's still going to be difficult, you have to swing as hard as you can, time your slashes, etc.. As what that other person said, if it's truly 1:1, dojos would use this game to train their disciples. Go figure, no?

E.g; For a backstab, you would really have to imitate that backstab move, which is quite hard to time.

WSR swordfighting is easy because what you have to do is only swing the Wiimote around.

if anyone who's playing this game and find the default controls feels not up to your liking please note that the you can customize options while IN-GAME using the Options menu when you pause the game !

the Options menu BEFORE you start/load a game only has no game control settings (eg. Subtitles ON/OFF)

i have only played past the 1st big boss but i am liking it so far. at least a 8.5/10 with all things considered ... (been bz with Pokemon SSilver)

i mainly give high points to the action gameplay (and yes there are timed events segments too like RE4 ... that was very well done). there are weapon upgrades and hidden moves to unlock. the combo moves are satisfying but it may take practice (and a cool head) to execute them well when in the heat of battle. i absolutely love the shooting !

graphics and effects are very good too. decent soundtrack.

P/S: i think many ppl will "complain" that the default sword swinging as requiring too much effort/energy. yes, at the default setting u'd hv to swing back and slash with force to execute a powerful slash ! you can change this to something less intensive in the in-game pause menu ...

as for getting games fast, that you'll have to thank ppl like stevechan360, play-asia.com, friends/acquaintances in various parts of the world smile.gif
i am avid Nintendo fan so i do my best to get my hands on items i want *haha*

Just bought my Wii, and immediately play this game.
Not bad, quite addicted to the slashing & shooting but a bit tiring!
Only thing is sometime the loading time for door opening are too long.
And got one action screen on the truck, it was lag at first time. after that no more lag.
Need to practice more tonight after work!!!
