Guys, its a multiplayer only beta. No single player campaigns (Which have a lot of media like voice overs, FMVs, etc.). Of course it'll be smaller compared to a full size game
But blizzard games in general consumes much less hdd space, when warcraft 3 retail was released I was surprised that it fits in to 1 CD.
I guess it wont be more than 1 DVD for the full release maybe 4 gigs.
It's better to check your Battle.Net profile instead of waiting for the email. I noticed that some of the guys out there have the download option available in the Battle.net profile even before they received their emails.
There's probably a large amount of unactivated content waiting to be mined by fans (ala WoW). 4GB is really big for a multiplayer client. It's bigger than a lot of X360 games.
is there anykind of guarentee if we opt-in for beta test?
i mean is there a definite way of getting selected? what are the chances?
Added on February 18, 2010, 12:59 pmI am actually thinking of buying some blizzard's game js for the cd keys
Unless you attended the past Blizzcons or won any beta keys from the various competitions organized by both Blizzard & fansites alike, then you don't have a 100% chance of being selected for the beta test.
I would advise you to save the money & wait for the game to be released in a few months from now.

Since now the download size is 1.4 gig.
Back when Warcraft 3 came out, DVDs were far from being the norm. CDs were still the defacto media for games. So, 1 CD was quite normal at the time. Hell, two years later, when World of Warcraft came out, it still came in CDs (Albeit more than 1).

Ahh ok, but I guess it would be fair to say Blizzard games consume not as much PC resources as other games of it's days?

downloading beta now. I'm so excited but our 3rd world connection is killing my patience.
There seems to be a good demand for it. Wonder how much people would pay.
We will most probably disallow that on these forums(it is highly likely it goes against the TOS of the SC2 beta). Same rules apply for Heroes of Newerth and Starcraft II.
