Even the Beta isnt announced yet. What makes you think it will come out on the first half of the year? End of 2010 might be possible.

Blizzard probably want a 4-6 months beta before the game gone gold.

Wait for Blizzard to announce the release date.

Those sites aren't really accurate anyways and neither are the magazines.

For eg. PC Gamer says Starcraft 2 is more than 6 months away.

Well, Starcraft 2 has been announced... indeed but I doubt it will be released any time soon. They have Diablo 3 in their hands and i supposed it would take a while to release this.... delay and delay... i have waited for 5 years for it to be released... and from the looks, they have been modifying starcraft 2 all this while and quite a number of changes has took place... so, I am pretty sure that we won't be getting any Starcraft 2 at this first half of 2010.

Some new updates on the state of the game.

======================================================================================

Avarius, a community manager of the StarCraft II General Discussion Forums, has taken time to address three posts in their community. The first regards questions about the interactions that a Changling has with multiple opponents.

QUOTE
The changeling's transformation is permanent. Once it is within range of opposing forces, it will transform to that race's basic tier 1 unit (marine, zealot, or zergling) and remain so for its duration. In the case of a team game or FFA where there are multiple races, the changeling will transform to the race it encounters first and not change again.

Later in the same thread, the question is raised, "Are the changelings actually useful in high level 1v1 play? Honest answer." He replies with the following:

QUOTE
I definitely think you will see them used effectively, even in high level 1v1 play. Who wouldn't want an essentially free scout (only costs energy) to use to gather intel on their opponent? With the potential that you opponent might not kill it immediately, it can provide you with a sustained scouting advantage. Even high level players can get caught up in harassment, or base management and may miss this little guy sneaking into their base.

In a thread labeled "Re: We don't need the beta, we need... [Battle Reports!]", Avarius encourages discussion on what the race matchup should be considered next.

QUOTE
What match-up would you like to see in the next Battle Report? Would you be interested in a same race match-up? How about a 2v2?

When a community member provides the opinion that the old Swarm Guardian has a better model than the new Brood Lord, Avarius defends his choice of forum avatar.

QUOTE
I like the way I look now. /flap

Kicho of the StarCraft II Korean Forums has been active lately with a few important posts. We thank our staff member, KDraconis, for his work to provide a direct translation. The first post regards to a conversation about the beta release of StarCraft II.

QUOTE
I'm sorry to those that were hopeful about my reply and clicked the thread, but the release date and the start date of beta testing are still not yet decided.

Since the time this forum was created, I think this question has always been the most difficult to answer.

I also wish that I will be able to tell you the dates soon. Really.

To alleviate confusion regarding smart-casting and buildings, Kicho provided a step-by-step process to build 3 supply depots.

QUOTE
When more supply is required, and when I have to quickly build three Supply Depots at the same time, this is usually the method that I use.

1) I select some mining SCVs by drag selection or Ctrl + Left Click. It's good to select at least three.
2) After pressing 'B' (building hotkey) then 'S' (Supply Depot hotkey), while holding Shift, consecutively left click at the locations you want to build at before right clicking a mineral patch.
3) Out of the selected SCVs, only three of them go to the selected locations and each build a Supply Depot, and once construction is complete they return to mining minerals.

Lastly, there was clarification on the Yamato Cannon ability on the Battlecruiser.

QUOTE
In multiplayer, the Battlecruiser's Yamato Cannon does not deal splash damage. It currently deals 300 damage to one target. And it is still called the Yamato Cannon.

Blizzard has been updating their twitter account with information involving Zerg balance and tutorials.

QUOTE
"There will be interactive tutorials in #StarCraft2 to help rusty players with game basics. "

"RT @Arangarx Expect various tutorials in #StarCraft2 to prepare players for all aspects of the game including campaign and multiplayer. "

"The #StarCraft2 balance team has been adding some spells to the overseer and corruptor."

KDraconis also took some time translating all the twitter updates that were found in the Korean Forums. For those following our news or Blizzard's twitter account, it should not provide any surprises You may see the translations in the article, Korean Translations - Twitter updates, if you'd like a refresher.
