Manchester United Open Talks With New Shirt Sponsor

The ambiguous financial future of current Manchester United sponsors AIG is causing the club to seek other options elsewhere in case the firm are, as speculated, forced to prematurely end their link with the Premier League champions.

As such, the Old Trafford outfit have been holding talks with insurance giants Aon over a shirt sponsorship deal that could fetch United an annual sum that exceeds £20 million, according to weekend newspaper the Sunday Mirror.

It has been reported that the new deal could be in place for pre-season, meaning Manchester United's kit next season would have the new sponsor dominating the front of their jerseys, and not AIG.

Aon have been in conversation with United ever since it was announced that the recession had hit AIG.

One 'insider' is reported to have told the weekend paper, "Talks have gone well and it's 90 per cent certain that Aon will be United's new shirt sponsor.

"Whether it happens next season or the year after is yet to be decided," the insider concluded.

Top Ten: Smoking Footballers

Legends and role models of the football world have regularly been pictured taking a sneaky smoke. It’s amazing to think that this team of eleven smoking geniuses could rival any!

1.Zinedzine Zidane

Arguably the greatest player of recent times, this playmaking maestro spearheaded an anti- smoking campaign in 2002. Despite this, the skilful Frenchmen often indulged in a puff.

2.David Ginola

The ex-Spurs shampoo loving pretty boy loves a cheeky smoke. This French heartthrob added to his Va Va Voom and slender figure with a cheeky fag.

3.William Gallas

This hot headed ex-Arsenal skipper was reportedly seen puffing away outside a London nightclub earlier this year. What is it with the French and smoking? If only it were a sport, they’d be world champs!

4. Johann Cruyff

The Dutch playmaker enjoys a regular cigar after a meal, this is despite being heavily involved into anti-smoking campaign throughout his playing career. Maybe he should have taken his own advice.

5.Wayne Rooney

Wayne is like marmite- you ever love him or hate him! Either way there are two things that we can be certain of: he is great for England and loves a smoke.

6.Paul Gascoigne

Who ate all the pies? Gazza did. But at least he could keep his weight down with a multipack of fags. But he is still an absolute legend for his goal against Scotland!

7.David James

Calamity James as he’s known for his regular outrageous mistakes on the football pitch can now add smoking to his long list of errors.

8.Fabian Barthez

Fabian is another extroverted keeper who often partook in football calamities and smoking. This crazy yet loveable Frenchman is well known for heavily smoking, particularly during pre-season.

9.Maradona

This little magician chained smoked throughout his world cup winning, legendry career. Ok, we can maybe let him off with the smoking, but that hand of god- no way!

10.Dimitar Berbatov

Possible the laziest footballer EVER now has a reason for not moving during a match. He should tell Sir Alex, honest it’s the cigarettes!

maybe SAF nak beli benzema last2 minit macam berba dulu..

Manchester United could be tempted by £25m Karim Benzema

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has opened the door for Manchester United to step up their interest in Karim Benzema by admitting that the French club could be forced to sell the £25 million-rated forward this summer.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has monitored Benzema's progress since the 21-year-old scored in a 1-1 Champions League second-round tie at Stade de Gerland in February 2008, and the France international has been earmarked as a possible replacement for Carlos Tevez should he leave.

Benzema has consistently maintained that he is keen to stay at Lyon and, although Aulas has insisted that he has no desire to part with the player, the chairman has admitted that a substantial bid could force him to sell.

Aulas said Benzema "said he wants to stay and I don't want to sell, so he is here at 99 per cent. However, Kaka should have not left Milan and he will join Real Madrid.

"We have entered spiral madness and I won't say that Karim is untransferable."

Benzema has previously expressed a preference to move to Spain rather than England should he leave Lyon, but he insists that he is not ready to push for a move this summer.

He said: "If there is a huge offer and the chairman tells me I have to go, I would probably leave. But I will not go and see him to ask to leave." Real Madrid have previously courted Benzema, but in a week when he has admitted an interest in signing Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo, Real president Florentino Perez has now confirmed that he intends to sign Bayern Munich's French winger Franck Ribery.

Real sporting director Zinedine Zidane has urged Perez to target Ribery ahead of Ronaldo, but Perez admits that the club have still to discuss a deal with Bayern.

He said: "It would be a huge satisfaction to have Ribery with us as soon as next season, but we first have to talk to his club."

Meanwhile, Manchester City could face competition from Inter Milan for Barcelona forward Samuel Eto'o following the suggestion that Eto'o could move to the San Siro in a swap deal involving Inter's Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Despite winning Serie A with Inter last season, the Swedish striker claims he is keen for a fresh challenge.

who should we buy with the 89million euros we would get by selling off ronaldo? biggrin.gif
why not get ashley young or lennon?somebody who is already experienced in the BPL and still young..
or maybe valencia.. rclxms.gif

we need to get busy in the transfer market cause Chelsea's been busy with all the transfer rumors lately with the arrival of their new boss..they look likely in becoming the next big thing next season..

with decent performance from park, and nani behind we jus need valencia as ronaldo replacement... smile.gif
*
but seriously i think they both aren't really up to the task..park imo usually makes a lot of mistakes sometimes and nani is still inexperienced..we need somebody like ashley young or lennon..but they both are short which is quite a disadvantage when it comes to aerial attack..maybe valencia might fit in for ronaldo's place..

bro..ronaldo hints a transfer-out..we dont need him if his heart is not for united..but i hope he stays.. biggrin.gif
SAF is playing with his wage to make him stay..but mark my words, with Florentino Perez craziness..its a matter of time now...and with FIFA on their neck for €30M fine if they did not sign him which makes the transfer even possible..

SAF said Ronaldo's price tag is around 50-60M pound..i've heard Madrid willing to pay more..and ready to offer 200k pound/ week wage..its all up to Ronaldo now..with Kaka already succeed, and Perez next priority is Ronaldo before hes on the hunt for Ribery..thats the rumour  i read..after all its only rumours.. rclxms.gif
*
just what i was about to say..ronaldo leaving is inevitable..plus,i wouldn't think perez wants to lose his 26million by giving it to Ronaldo..so,like it or not we have to accept the fact that ronaldo going to Real is going to happen..so,instead of arguing whether he is going to leave or not,its better we discuss on who is the best to replace him..

Never denied anything.

I said they were nothing concrete. Now there is. He chose to leave us, to go to Real Madrid. And there is only one team for me. Leaving us is clearly a step down. So he can feck off. No question about that.

We survived before, we will again. Simple really.

So to Ronaldo, feck off. It's that simple for me.
*
but still,we cant really blame him really..foreigners never stay that long do they..he's been with us for like 6years,that is a long time already for someone to stay in a foreign country and he was already making complaints before this about the weather and all..so,its not really his fault really for wanting to leave us..all we should do is support his decision and appreciate all what he has done for us and not boo him off later on IF he really leaves..
