QUOTE(slcroy @ Jun 15 2009, 12:35 AM)
but wht i am trying to say is that football is a business... the soul is gone.
it used to be 10 million to purchase good players...then 30 million...then 40 million...the average have been going up ever since... now if Man U wants Ribery, it's 90 million.
Small clubs r really dying man...no pride no loyalty no nothing with these lads already.
such a big gap now between the top four in england and spain and italy with the other teams in the same league already.
Tht's why i am sad... The footballing world wont be producing anymore bergkamp, keane, batistuta, gerrard, raul, maldini...
i hope u guys think about this and dun go against me now...observe what is going on first and how the rich play their games and how we the poor r indirectly earning for them and working for them...
i read this quote and i think it's a good one
"The problem with us is we rather be an ignorant of the impending danger and live the life that's design for us than getting to know the truth and do something bout it".
that is why AW keep stressing that Football is a business, not a playtoy. Some of these people are using clubs for personal enjoyment and personal gain. That's what sad about it.
in this case, the fans are the one to blame too. We always shouts for new blood... new players... established players... yet we fail to see what's been going on behind the scene. The youth.. the academy... the scouting. Admit it, Perez did what he promised the fans he would do... that is to bring back the galacticos. We can't blame him for paying over the odds for players. RM has been known for doing so. Yet, this time it's a little bit more complicated because of the economic crisis. People are saying CR not worth 80M. How can u know? Beckham signed a deal with Galaxy to the tune of USD250M, yet no one question him. This is because Beckham is a well known public figure and you'll know he'll attracts more income to the club, and possibly ignite a soccer revolution across the US.
Same can be said about Ronaldo. Sure he's thinking about his own pocket for the time being but he's 24... he got at least 6 years to prove his worth 80M. when u think about it, that's about what 13.3M per season. Hah.. peanuts la if you ask Real Madrid.
Superstars come and go... maybe we won't see anymore bergy, keano, batistuta and the rest... but there are some good and upcoming stars. Torres, Cesc, Casillas, Pato, Eduardo, Macheda, Tevez.. just to name a few. There are always newcomers and will rise to stardom.
Big gap between the top teams and the rest of the league? well.. as i see it, the gap is closing in more and more each year. As like players, teams also come and go. Who would've thought Boro and Newcastle will be relegated? Who'd bet Hull and Stoke will survive? Who in the whole germany would say that Wolfzburg will win Bundesliga and will be doing it in style? it takes a bit of luck, and a whole lot of hard work to get to where they are. That's why $$ is not the only answer to success. Looking all across Europe, i'd say the competition is healthy. More domestic leagues producing better and challenging teams. Teams like Shaktar, Zenit, Fenerbache are inching closer and closer to EPL standards. Teams from Italy, Spain and Portugal have high standards and high ambitions.
anyway, these big time spending must be put to a stop. We gotta have some sort of cap to reduce the effect. Actually, UK gov tried that.. they increase the tax..but this backfire because other countries took advantage and didn't increase their tax. So, back to square one. huhuhu i wonder how much MU will be taxed for the sale of CR?
From what i see, it'll be one interesting season we'll have for 09/10. Here hoping Arsenal will come out on top by May 2010.
