yala... actually more or less done but he insist that i see through the process... !!
Did you buy your ticket before you got your leave approved? Or did they withdraw the approval at thhe last minute?

If you can't avoid it, then why don't you pull some all nighters now to get everything done by Thursday? Or is there something you need from someone else and they will only give it to you Friday?

Yeah, you must be flying out from Senai... having the cross the causeway etc.. kinda defeats the purpose of flying.

I'm flying out at 10am on Saturday morning from the Budget Terminal. Paid double for the ticket though, as it's an extra flight.

i have to start at sg on 22 feb...

my current company i havent tender resignation yet.. because i havent receive the offer letter from the new company to sign @-@ already send all the necessary document for EP / S-pass processing to the new company.. they said will send me the offer letter and contract soon ( donno when ) how?

the thing is.. my current company "might" give out bonus on end of this month... so, what am i suppose to do...? i might lose out the bonus if i tender my resignation ( 24 hours notice, since the new company willing to pay the 1 month notice )

Use your annual leave between Feb 22-28. Then tender your resignation on Feb 28 and the new company pays in lieu of the effective notice period from March 1-31.

My purpose is to save money, how naive I am during my 1st year working in SG.
Not wrong to want to save money.

Before Airasia stopped flying IPH-JHB, I always flew from Ipoh into Senai. Then took a cab or airport shuttle bus to JB town and then a Singapore Comfort cab from JB Kotaraya 2 back to Singapore.

But I never flew out of Senai. Reason being is that the plane will not wait for you, and the causeway / 2nd link can be damn unpredictable in terms of time taken to cross. That means having to leave Singapore very early,.. like 5 hours before the flight ETD... JUST IN CASE there's a jam at the causeway or if all your bus/train/taxi connections are delayed. The total time taken from the moment I leave my flat in Singapore until the time I reach home in Ipoh.., I actually don't save any time at all compared to taking a coach from Golden Mile. To me, that generally defeats the whole purpose of flying.

It's nice when the route has some competition. IPH-SIN is a monopoly. They can charge whatever they want.

Me too.. is it air asia to KL? 7.45AM Flight?

That's great rclxms.gif And I like to believe that you would have thrown caution to the wind and board that flight anyway, even if they didn't approve your leave. Got to show the audit firms that they can't push you around all the time tongue.gif

how do you categorized "front line" - Are you referring to the RMs?

I'm not the one categorizing. It's Bank of America. Google for it. I think it's their investment bankers.

Who has been to the casino so far??

Better than Msia Casino???

Probably never going to go to the casino with the $100 levy. Damn... they are even charging $10 to walk through an empty Universal Studios theme park with no rides, no food and no attractions. blink.gif

Yes, Singaporeans are always offered a higher salary by 20% - 25% compare to Malaysians and Indonesians.

Even PR salary is lower by 10% compared to Sporeans.

Nope. That's not always true. That's too much of a broad sweeping motherhood statement to make.

May I know what interview questions normally an accounting firm in Singapore would likely be asked? Any other things which i need to prepare for the interview? Thanks ya

I imagine that the questions would be pretty much the same as those likely to be asked by accounting firms in Malaysia... no?

a bit susah to survive bcos air tebu in sg is s$1.20 malaysia is rm1.20 the price is same but in dif currency so can u survive in malaysia with RM2,800 ??

The price of food is generally S$0.8:RM1. The price for everything else is S$0.4:RM1. The only exception is rental which is S$1:RM1.

QUOTE(tblee88)
in sg more taxes ,cross road have to pay .

Why don't you check out the income tax rates in Sg and My before you blurt something like that out? And also how fast the tax brackets climb in My, compared to Sg?

Sg has GST of 7%, but GST is on spending only... ie. your savings is not taxed 7%. The higher income tax in Malaysia taxes both savings and spending. Additionally, Malaysia has 5% service tax, higher car taxes and GST will be introduced soon enough.

best is still their electronics item like LCD TV .... branded 42" can easily goes under SGD$1k.

Yeah... the exchange rate does wonders for goods imported by both Sg and My. I love buying the newest handphones at S$700 bucks rather than RM2000.

I wanna clarify something on PR application. I see in guidemesingapore.com, stated there that it's generally PR application should be applied after 2 years of EP. I would like to know is there a fixed rule on holding EP how long only can apply for PR ? or roughly what's the success rate of 6 months EP, or 1 year EP ? Generally how many months u guys hold before applying PR ?

Nope. You can apply for PR anytime. Even before your EP is approved... ie. apply as a foreigner from their home country.

No idea on the success rate. Anecdotal evidence is arguable. Namely because your employer will generally employ the same kind of people as you are, and your friends... birds of a feather flock together. So most forumer testimonies are either biased one side or the other, depending on their standards.

I am wondering if you hold EP while under Malaysia Company, being outsourced to Spore for half year n above. Is it still possible to apply PR? What about the success rate if 'Yes'?

Anyone can apply. I don't think there are any restrictions or exclusions. Success rate is about 48.932%.

You are so lucky that you get the week off la, I went back to work on Wed itself, straight from airport to work. But i stopby my house to dump the luggage.

It wasn't exactly a holiday. Had a financial estimate to submit into a US file server on 2nd day (lucky my Celcom broadband behaved itself), a late night phone conf with my new boss in the US, amendments to my org chart following that phone call and do a 40 slide presentation for a 2 day meeting that starts at 8.30am tomorrow. It was no picnic lah... sad.gif

is it really required excellent english to survive in SG? i wish i can work at there but my english always made me stepped back.. :-(
Really depends on what kind of job is involved. If you work with your hands doing something technical or mechanical, all you need is to understand instructions. But if you're a hotel concierge or working in a bank or MNC, the minimum standard is much higher.

Tell u, use $100 to pay levy... then use $100 to bet banker in baccarat (50-50 chance winning), if win then stop (at least u win back ur levy), if lose, bet $200 again in banker, if lose bet $300 so on and so forth... u bet 10 times, sure got 1 time is banker.

Doesn't the casino take a commission on the winning hands when you bet on the banker?

That is not the point..The point is to move from auditor to Accountant..the ultimate aim of studying a degree in accounting and to obtain Chartered Accountant title.

You're aiming quite low, no? tongue.gif

Anyone who has 3 years of experience and an acceptable qualification can become a Chartered Accountant by joining MIA.

The ultimate aim is to get the biggest salary you can get. Whatever title they call you is beside the point.

I understand, the only weakness is you need alot of capital.

On the other hand, how often u see all 10 games in a row all banker wins or player wins

or

how often u see in a roulette game whereby 10 games in a row all open odd numbers or even numbers?

Don't you think that whatever you can think of, the casino industry has already thought of and employed counter-measures against long, long ago?

But the chap above is right. The combination of minimum bet and table limit stops you from doubling up.

The casino ALWAYS has an edge on the odds.
