alien gun cheapo2 ... DIY flash rings also cheapo2...but i donno how to build it.

@sidewinderz - can answer my Q on previous page?

Added on May 17, 2009, 5:13 pm

teach me how to do this?? and the diff of this and alien gun? the diff of flash produced?
*
i stil need some modification....but generally..the making process shd b similar to the 'alien gun' too...the diff is..u need to calculate more precisely here bcoz u had to put the flash infront of ur lens(in the 'hole' at the center)..so the distance is impt....

heres some examples for portrait taken with ring flash taken from flickr

wah..ASAP is into fashion photography?? =D

i saw some review on the 'real' ring flash vs some diy-ed one...to be frank not much diff...other than the 'real' ring flash could deliver the flash to much further distance...

okay..talk so much about ring flash..i've decided tonite i gonna come out with some portrait shots...not sure whether it'd sucess tho..lol..just a rough idea in my head now whistling.gif

hmm....somehow, the new camera don't have a percentage indicator for the battery...a lil disappointment for me.

Added on May 18, 2009, 4:35 pmachew...mind to share your setup?? tongue.gif

err...F58 at the back of her head..setting = 24mm n 1/32

at the front of her..i put a reflective board (made it with alu foil =.= ) hopefully it could bounce off any available light to her face..its very dark in the room..and if i on anymore lights..the whole room would b lit-ed up...

camera setting(manual) iso200 , F2 , Shutter 1/200s...

what lens were you using? your newly cleaned 50mm f1.4??
*
haha..ya...was using cz1680 but realized my living room is way toooo dark for the aperture....so i change to 50mm for a more flexible way of playing around with the setting..

btw the light part...it was purposely done in a warmer tone as the model prefer to have warmer photo..lol

achew, NIIICE! I like how there's even a reflection of the camera in the lens.

im not sure whether u notice...actually there r a few different "me" inside the reflections..i took a few photos and merge them using photoshop tongue.gif so in another way..the reflections r fake ones whistling.gif

v1rtual, I have often felt that the 50mm F1.4 (and F1.7) which can only focus to 45cm close, is a bit limiting. 34cm would be a lot more flexible.

The new SAM 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 DT can focus to 25cm close. This is a lot closer than the SAL 18-70mm F3.5-5.6 DT's 38cm!

totally agree man....i wouldnt use my macro lens so often if my 50mm could go closer to get wad i wan....

achew, it would be very nice if the SAM 50mm F1.8 DT has better bokeh, none of that annoying brightline bokeh in the Sony/Minolta 50mm F1.4/F1.7!
