I know this one friend who only "plays" counters...
Daily, he monitors the trends and cycles, and he try to follow the trend.
By reading on news and business activities, plus the charts, and some wind, he can quite accurately play the cycles...

Anyway u look at it, fundamentally nothing is supporting KNM at much above 0.80... Pls correct me if I'm wrong...

Added on May 21, 2009, 9:12 amNot that I dun want it to go higher, but it would just be unsustainable.

Of course, unless the coming financial results gives it a boost, then we'll see some sparkle.

U might be right that above 0.80 doesn't look sustainable.

However looking at KNM pass performance as well as PE still less than 10, plus oil consumption will go up when economy recovers. Therefore I think it's a good time for oil company to expand now since other material cost is low eg. steel etc. It looks gloomy at this moment but I think the future is bright for O&G.

Same as Teewan, correct me if I am wrong.

The market is forward looking. If the worst of economy is behind us, the room to fall back to previous level is small. As recovery is the global theme now, more so for pro-cyclical sectors, a degree of optimism is what supports KNM now.

Make no mistakes, big companies are still slashing staff and losing big money. For KNM, with oil at USD60, the chance of getting contract resumption has improved.

Deflation is what might kill companies like KNM when price drops and moeny supply contracts. But this downward spiral has kind of run its full course and the right dose of money priniting has boosted the appeal of buying oil as hedge against inflation and any weakness in USD.

With oil at 55 to 65, it provides a platform for KNM to at least secure enough biz to avoid going bust. With raw materials down, 7.5 sen EPS if maintained, is not bad already for this year and next.

Without healthy contract resumption, KNM will hang around this level. The upcoming results will be important but more important is contracts and oil price which are barometer for KNM's future. If things stay quite, the share price will be quite dull too.
