Sushi (wasabi they give free) = RM 5 - RM 12 > add all the rice in still cannot fight with 1 nasi lemak !

sorry guys, not trying to correct u all on what you know. but i need to point out to you that i do not think the rondo and forte share the same engine, at least not the 1.6 model.

if you look into the net for the engine specs, you will find that only the 2.0 & 2.4 (which is not available here) uses the Theta II engine, which is the JV engine between chrysler, mitsu & hyundai/kia. this is the same engine type used by the Lancer 2.0 and Rondo 2.0. So, Forte 2.0 will be much if not as powerful if compared to rondo, given its sedan chassis.

the 1.6 model is using the Gamma engine, which if im not mistaken is from the spectra days. unless i have been reading from the wrong source.

can anyone clarify this? I suspected they are not the same engine family the moment i saw the big differences in torque between the 1.6 & 2.0.
*
2.0 in forte is the JV engine

1.6 in forte is the new engine use in Spectra 5 , for forte it have been tunr up adding another 4hp (if I am not mistaken)

1st generation Spectra is only having 107hp
2nd 105hp with a better pick up
-------------------------------------- previously these engine mentioned doesn't have DVVT, VVTI or VSC

3rd gen I classify as Spectra 5 - > where Forte will adopt and an improvement have been done over it

Please don't be confuse of Old Spectra & Spectra 5 - probably with the name spectra they didn't sell well Kia Spectra = High FC !

I searched by typing "kia forte"
You mean this?
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/981566

i think we need more info, for instance, power, handling, fuel consumption, accessories, safety features etc.
It would help if you could list out all the strengths of Kia Forte.

haha just teasing you btw:

Engine: 126 hp vs Honda 120hp vs Vios (104hp)
Weight heaviest of all

let me do a simple comparison with City , Vios to me is out:

Forte Pro:
Bigger car space (is a C-segment , it is suppose to compare with Civic, Mazda 3 , Altis )
CBC & TCS which City doesn't have
Read parking assist
Keyless entry system
Cheaper than the car of it's range

City pro:
5 Gears (Forte only 4, btw Vios also 4)
better resell value
cheaper spare parts

Doing a comparison on cars at the price range 70k-90k
power: City
handling: Forte / Sentra ?
fuel consumption: Vios (lighter mar)
accessories: Forte (it has what other has on top of it keyless entry beat this)
safety features: Forte (additional CBC & TBC , tested 4star NCAP rumour 5 star)
* Forte 2.0 @ 93k is having 6 air bags !

actually, i have no doubt the engine for the 1.6 forte will be better than spectra or spectra5 for that matter, partly due to Kia's maturity and experiance gained in fine tuning the engine.

i have to disagree tho they they are different engine, because valve timing dont make a new engine, altho most ppl assume it is. its more like engine fine tuning.

think Campro vs Campro IAFM vs Campro CPS, they are all Campro engine, which are basicaly a DOHC engine, with the exception that original Campro has NO cam profiling, therefore the weakest of all. IAFM is a Bosch valve timing (correction needed) and CPS is our own.

Basically, i am saying that even the old Gamma engine was already a beast, but was weak at that time with bad consumption etc due to Kia's lack of experiance then. but they have came very far now in a short period, and i think thats worth mentioning and admire.

the Theta II is a new generation of engine altogether, and sources have said tat until now, only Kia has managed to push the most power frm this engine. yep, not even Mitsu with their Mivec do justice to the engine. shows a point that Kia is really good now, at least with engine refinement is concerned.

Yerp most likely is the same engine and improvement have been done over it such as having CVVT ...

Unlike Toyota they can have the same engine for the past 8 years - well diff strategy same part easy find spare parts , cheper to produce in bulk

Honda: keep improving IDSI > VTEC> I-Vtec .. you can see how the engine evolve VTEC & I-Vtec I can say a total diff engine

Proton still not yet matured so still CAMPRO

Diff company have diff strategy ...

i have a city 09 and i can tell u its a bit underpower, not really underpower but its like no pushing force.but after the ivtec kicks in u can feel the power

more power cause weight vs HP
and 5 gear the pick up is slightly smoother

I still prefer to old city with 7 gear that's smooth like teh tarik
