Look at all my stars!! Senior Member 5,366 posts Joined: Aug 2005	aih, used to criticize Xbox 360 for its RRODs, but soon M$ introduce 3 yr extended warranty, alternatively the repair costs from 3rd party also cheaper. PS3: YLOD: repair costs: OMFGWTFBBQ 50:50

Senior Member 5,366 posts Joined: Aug 2005	is the PS3 System software aka "firmware" stored in the HDD? coz its 160MB in size and the only reasonable place is HDD so to downgrade it, just need to reformat the HDD? and also how is the repair procedure if the update install progress is kantoi-ed by TNB...

All in all, Sony shouldn't make a system so fragile if that's the case

Senior Member 5,366 posts Joined: Aug 2005	in general YLOD is a symptom to show that something is wrong internally, whether it is overheating, or corrupted flashchip, or wrong firmware, anything it is not necessary means overheating, the recent FW outbreak might cause newer form of YLOD btw, most of the infected ones are 60GB, 40GB, pre 2008 consoles...
