i am from Melaka. when i sent to the shop i bought my ps3 from, the technician over the other side said it's tooooo risky to repair and refuse to repair it..

here are some technical details

number of reflectable/focus transparent materials. : more than 10. Combi of cheap plastic and some very thin glass.
number of ICs: 1 (less than 2~3 mm ^ 2)
number of magnet : shud be around 3
number of motors: 1+1 = 2
number of springs: 1
number of laser diode : 3, 1 main, 2 side diodes,
number of resistor: more than 30.
possible failure reasons:
1. IC failure highly unlikely
2. motor 1 failure(which adjust the focus) highly unlikely
3. 1 or more diode failure. maybe..

other possible reasons,
1.  electrical surge which may fry the super tiny ic
2.  software problem which destroy the instructions set in the tiny ic

other stuff used to glue the pieces together:

1. Super tiny screws
2. Super Glue.. Yeah..  i mean it.
3. Plasticine .... (feels like it) to hold the main diode.
For this.. all i can say is: WTF?!..

got my lens repaired in Bernard's shop. i was standing beside Bernard and watching him repair it. no problem until now.. so far..

heard someone said he does repair ylod, only with general repairs, if mobo problem. sorry lo.. i think need to get a new set.

spent 3 hrs to get to his shop from melaka, 3 hrs at his place, lunch, repair, testing, waiting for bus home and another 3 hrs to reach my house

carrying a 5kg++ machine with backpack is not fun and tiring.. 

nope..just yesterday got stole..sigh

I guess its not caused by lens nor overheating problem..like mine also without warning suddenly shut-off by itself

but thank God its ok now..don't know why either, maybe cos I'm playing RE5 demo?

last week i'd try RE5 demo too..after install 1st time start the game, no sound. ok nvm...restart the game..set my audio setting. start the game 2nd time..ok..this time got sound. so i started the game...it juz lagging at the loading, the background is moving but in extra s~l~o~w~ mode. i was like wtf?!?! then qucikly force restart my ps3 coz press the ps logo on the controller oso not work.

sumthing wrong with RE5 demo?

luckily everything still going fine till now...

my ps3 also got problem...
will hang when played game..
then,can not connect internet...
controller also sometimes cannot be connected even plug with the cable..

but currently already send my ps3 to bernard...
my old ps3 start with CECHH00...

i think the prob with ur ps3 same with my old ps3...
if u still have warranty of ur ps3,then send it back to sony...

yeah.. baru cuci sampah sarap yg menutup lubang angin kat depan tu (bawah BDROM drive).  Earlier my PS3 blower fan produce loud noise but after clean the 'sampah sarap', the sound quiet a little bit... seem like the fan force to work harder if the vent full of 'sampah sarap'.

jsc, did you take out the HDD... and try to ON your PS3?

cuz YLOD.. sometime cause by HDD or Motherboard

My PS3 already 4 time struck by YLOD..

one thing i can conclude is it need better thermal paste.last time i bought some ciken brand thermal paste...last for few days before it YLOD again (again apply the same story repeated for 3 times).then i mix it with some brand thermal paste and it last much longer but at first 15 minute the fan will kick to hyper mode in every session i start playing.

Now i'm ordering reputable brand (artic cooling) thermal paste...hope this will resolve the problem permanently....since i still has long list of games in my possession that i hasn't finish yet!!!
