Is Shangri-La shop overpriced?

Went there just to browse, saw 18-200VR for sale like mine, but price tag says RM3,288. Aik? I don't remember my dad paying that much when he bought the 18-200VR. I was pretty sure the price was RM2,300 or so. That's RM1,000 difference, almost!

Or could it be 18-200VR II? Didn't have time to ask.. sad.gif

contemplating the right uwa for me.. either the tokina 11-16 f/2.8 or the sigma 10-20..which is the best bang for my buck?

the sigma is the widest i can get at 10mm but the tokina has a fixed aperture at f/2.8. hmmm..built quality, IQ which is better?
*
maybe we can go buy together, was looking for one too thumbup.gif

i'm thinking of the sigma, since i've played with the lens itself already, kinda comfortable with it, as i think i dont really need f/2.8 for my wide shots.. sweat.gif

but im concerned in terms of IQ..which is better?

built quality also..

and im quite afraid of sigma because quite a number of sigma owner report of backfocus/front focus probs with their lenses (other sigma like 70200 2.8 and 18200 and 1850)

not sure about the sigma 1020..need to do some research.. the tokina is proven to be a better contender than the more expensive Nikon 12-24
*
bro, how bout the price? almost same ke?

I think the D3000 is a much better deal at that price. The 11 point AF system used in the D80/90/5000 makes it a much better body than the D60/40/40X 3-point AF. Image and noise control I guess should be better but we will only know when we use it. Anyway for that price nothing much to complain.
*
its using the same sensor on the D60 right?

I just dropped by at Fotokem, Bintang Maju and Best Denki at Mines yesterday on my way home, none of them have D3000 yet. I just saw D5000 at all shops in which really tempting me to get one. Budget-wise, i need to wait another couple of week, most likely D3000 will arrive. Raya will come soon too! ayya...

You guys, any preferred shops to go shopping for this photography thingy in terms of good customer service, reasonable price?
*
why wait? regret later, buy now laugh.gif

I have used Sigma 10-20mm, Tokina 12-24mm f/4 and now Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8.

IMHO, Tokina has the better build. The sigma is only sharp wide open. When you stop it down to even f/11, the sides are significantly softer than the center. I think you may have mentioned you don't like distortions. So, that leaves you only once choice, which is the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8.
*
is the 11mm on the tokina and 10 on the sigma is really different? in terms of distortions & 10mm is much more wider?

ya i used A300 before changing to D laugh.gif ya the live view is very responsive, as fast as switching a button.. the flipping screen is also another 'poison'.. i thought i could use it very much, but later i found out i would use the live view just once in around 3000 shots.. haha so its kinda waste..

even the D300 live view is kinda sucks since its slow and kinda painful to use.. i didnt use it yet, i might if i got a tripod, but not on weddings laugh.gif
