from what i've read .. f4 is sharp enough, but the tammy 1750 is very sharp at 5.6..
4-5.6 is the magic number for the tammy 1750 f2.8 This post has been edited by alpha_company: May 26 2009, 12:51 AM |

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ May 29 2009, 12:12 PM) Indeed very bulky. i am a D40+ Di622 user. When you sling the D40 mounted wih di622 on your neck the di622 which is heavy will make the whole camera points downwards, which is kinda weird and bulky. The lens is pointing downwards instead of forward =.= yeah.. but i use cybertik mz45 flash.. combined with the almost half a kilogram of tamron 17-50 f2.8 it points down like there's no tomorrow. But performance wise Di622 serves me well, I haven't tried Sb600, because I can't afford it and I don't have friends who own it... even without the flash it points down too... maybe i need a battery grip..to balance it out |

thought of getting the 18-200VR for wedding shots. but a lot of people recommend me to get the tamron 1750 f2.8. glad i did.
for close up pics, f2.8 is fine, but for normal portrait wedding shots, the sharpest pic u can get with this lens is at f4-f5.6. but one thing about it though, comparing it against my friend's nikon 18-55 & tamron 70-300 and my previously owned nikon 55-200VR, you will notice that it weighs a lot...man is it heavy. |

QUOTE(project-o @ May 31 2009, 05:56 PM) 18-200VR is out of the question.... it is expensive.. and not as sharp as the Tamron 17-50. Only thing that I didn't really like about it was that the built in motor is quite slow (as in slower than 18-135). So other than the 17-50 ... you don't have a Tele lens..or a Super wide ? no uwa-ultra wide lens.. dont need it anyways..thinking of getting a tele 70-300 VRii lens...but still not sure as i need to buy a dslr bagpack and battery grip. |

QUOTE(Firdaus92 @ Jun 1 2009, 07:15 PM) Tamron 18-270mm VC same price with Nikon 18-200mm VR eh??Maybe I look at the price wrongly last time. Forgive me i like to shoot in RAW format...can have much more options when editing..RAW files are like the films of SLR cameras.Anyways, guys, regarding my question earlier, what happen if i compress my picture to save hard disk space since I'm already running out of space now?Either JPEG or RAW picture. later transfer to PC, edit it as you'd like..then save as JPEG...if you think no need to edit again..can just delete the raw files.. it's what i do.. QUOTE(kimurastanley @ Jun 2 2009, 01:27 AM) By the way, new Adobe Camera Raw can even change the white balance and exposure in JPG files. It's really convenient to have that function can change exposure? waaa.. ok tuh..really nice. is it free?but i still think the information contained in jpeg is too little & less accurate compared to RAW |

QUOTE(kevyeoh @ Jun 12 2009, 04:00 PM) wah...the 18-135mm lens now cost about RM700 market price...if service also a few hundred ringgits... then worth considering buying a brand new lens lor.... comparing the quality of the pics taken:btw... D5000 baru masuk included in this thread? how come we cannot merge D80 as well... ptttbbbbttthhh D70 kit lens 18-70mm D90 kit lens 18-105mm VR The d70 kit has a higher IQ compared to d80 kit lens..and possibly comparable or better in 18-70mm range compared to d90 kit lens, but a plus for d90 kit lens is that it has VR. QUOTE(project-o @ Jun 15 2009, 10:46 AM) I would say it depends on your usage of the lenses. Having both the 18-70 and the 18-135 the 18-70 has the advantage of the f4.5 aperture at the long end. The 18-135 is in fact a very decent lens and is sharp at all focal lengths all the way from 18 to 135 but with all "superzooms" to achieve the sharpness there is a compromise in a more barrel distortion at the wide end and more chromatic abberation. imo if anybody wants to have superzoom, 135mm isn't what i call superzoom. nikon 18-200VR, tamron 18200 / 18270VC, sigma 18200 / 18250 OS HSM is more appropriate to be called superzoom and yes it does cost a lot more but it is very very convenient. if you buy the tamron 18270VC it almost covers the range of three usual lenses D60 kit (18-55) + 55-200VR + 70-300VRii. is it worth it? yes it is. Superzooms are jack of all trades, master of none. The 18-105VR has reduced the CA and the wide end problems and added VR to use lower shutter speed. For me I would take the 18-135 if I want to carry only one lens and the 18-70 with the 55-200VR. 18-105 I guess it is between. i would love to get either a Nikon 18200VRii (fast af), Tamron 18270VC (slower af but longer range and better IQ than nikon 18200) OR Sigma 18250 OS HSM (fast af like nikon) |
