im a newbie in stock market.recently i juz open a account at osk.The question i would like to ask is that when im buying shares, lets says hk shares, is it possible for me to buy 100 unit?

for example, let say this share is hkd 1.00, can i buy 100 unit only?which means i only hav to pay 100+broker fees?

btw how the broker charges us?

is there any minimum number of shares that we should by like 1000 each time?

In Malaysia the minimum amount is 100 shares which constitutes 1 lot.

No, you won't face any problems at all, if let's says a persons wishes to buys 10 lots, he will buy 1 lot from you and get his 9 other lots from other sellers.

Nope, you can't. You have to buy in intervals of 100 shares.

One more things you have to know is if the share is RM1, u buy 100 unit = ( RM1X100 unit ) = RM100. However, your brokerage fees + clearing fees + stamp duty will cost you more than RM13 (I assume it is RM13). And when you want to sell the share, the same RM13 will charge to you. That mean you lose RM26 which is 26% of your RM100 capital when you trading one times (buy and sell). However, generally it is hard for a share to grow more than 26% in short term.

What I'm trying to said is you may have enough capital if you want to earn money. Eg: at least invest RM3K to buy 1 share no matter what is the share price.

Try to understand how the brokerage fees charging.

For me my brokerage fee is RM40 or 0.06%, whichever is lower, so the minimum amount I would purchase is RM6700 which will equal to a brokerage amount of RM40.20. If you buy too little you lose out. I made this mistake with my first stock purchase, I bought only 5 lots of BJTOTO at RM4.55. Because I bought so little my break even price is RM4.74. doh.gif Don't make the same mistake as me. smile.gif
