Premier 1 Account is the best in terms of features and benefits and has the higher interests for a current account but requires minimum average balance Go below the minumum average monthly balance and you get fined (they call it monthly charges). But they have to do this, if not they could not offer you such benefits for free as any for-fun person would open an account with them. This post has been edited by aeronic: May 6 2009, 02:16 PM

@cscheat, If you're planning to open one as a Business Account, you may want to consider PBB instead because I been told, you're able to check your account / transactions via their Online Banking. MBB wouldn't allow U to do that.

I'd just open a Maybank current account for my business (Don't ask me which type it is, I just don't know).
Requirement: - One introducer with a valid Maybank current account for at least a year. - RM 2000 (or RM 2500 can't recall well). - Business rubber stamp.
Facilities included: - Cheque book - Maybank2u (Need to fill in one extra form) - You can check your transactions online for up to 60 days (if not mistaken)

the last i checked all the choc full and fancy accounts like premier 1 and maybank2u.premier current accounts are only for individuals.
that time they bank teller said, for company can only use classic current account.
TS, are you sure it is maybank2u? and they offer it for businesses? it could be maybank2e which is not same as maybank2u. the last i check maybank2u is for individuals only.

i don't know what's up with maybank with all the introducer thing. last year i wanted to open a foreign currency account and they told me i need an introducer which other bank doesn't even require one. (i already had one with OCBC and there's no such issue.) Ended up my dad calling the branch manager and asked if this is the rules set by Bank Negara then she says i don't need an introducer.

Hong Leong Islamic Current Account-i is not bad, quite high interest rate offered. <1k no interest <50k 0.70% <100k 1.10% Rate changes every month. Pls note it's an Islamic current account. HL normal current account does not offer such high interest. Islamic account does not require the account holder to be Muslim so dont worry

So far so good. It does have an average balance requirement (can't remember the terms) and if you don't meet it, you'll be charge a fee. Savings accounts now is giving super low interests, so a current account gives added advantages i.e. cheque book

QUOTE(Ya Rerd @ May 22 2009, 11:03 AM) You're the first person that i know who dislikes PBBÂ Me too. There are so many people dislike Maybank and CIMB Bank because they are very slow but never Public Bank QUOTE(Ya Rerd @ May 22 2009, 11:03 AM) Savings accounts now is giving super low interests, so a current account gives added advantages i.e. cheque book Standard Chartered Bank is giving 1.5% interest for their savings account (E$AVER). No minimum deposit required to open this account and absolutely no below balance fee. All you need to pay is the RM8 annual fee for ATM Card. If sole proprietor, you can use personal cheque for business purposes (legally you 2 are the same entity, make no difference to get a company cheque book). And I think if you are in partnership, more than half of the posting you can ignore

I have 3 company accounts with Maybank (all are enterprise) and M2U is free. Only if company is S/B, u need to pay RM 100 per month. Since my new company is a S/B, I will share u a trick to save money.
Assuming all 4 accounts in the same branch, u simply write a cheque from the S/B account and do a house cheque clearance (manually at the counter). The money will transfer from S/B to enterprise account after 5pm same day.
Now, with money in the enterprise A/C, u login as per usual and pay bills, salaries and etc...
Been doing this for years and not a single problem. Only thing is u need to keep records.

You can always apply for current account which is not link to internet so that the charges are not high. Keywords here (may not be applicable though) are transfer pricing/related parties transaction/anti-money laundering act/etc.
