ray, u hit the spot~!  notworthy.gif  that's what we all have been trying 2 say all these while.

simple scenario: a motorbike. can carry 2 person max, consider this HT. you will only need 2 make one trip for 2 person. but if u r looking for speed, then one person on the motorbike will be the best for speed achievements.

Pros and cons of HT. So HT plays a more significant role in single core compared to multicores (motorbike compared to bus, lorry, etc.)  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
@edmin,a very good scenario with a direct & clear info here. I'm very happy with my rig now,the 3GB of RAM really boost a lot from 1GB. I google that the kignston RAM i got is also a gem,can do 250MHz. brows.gif

QUOTE(edministrator @ May 13 2009, 12:02 PM)
how's your quest for quaddies? getting it from beginner?  laugh.gif

Opps edmin,dak gatal tangan?

QUOTE(dlwl @ May 13 2009, 12:18 PM)
not sure yet. now got other problems to think of doh.gif
graphic card giving some headache, overheating frequently. don't know due to hot weather or other things.
maybe need to change my gc or casing already.
*
Maybe can change the cooling then solve your heat issue?

QUOTE(astria @ May 13 2009, 12:40 PM)
afaik, HT, be it the old one or new one, is still pretty much apps dependent... it still requires optimization from the software to make use of HT, else it's negative on the apps (games are the example)...

but heck, Intel already stressed many times that i7 was not designed for gamers but workstations and servers instead...
*
I agree cause there are many game applications are not beneficial from Ci7.

Hi Jcsy, since you comparing the HT-on and HT-off performance, do you mind to compare the performances of HT-on and HT-off using the Fritz Benchmark program? The Fritz Benchmark program utilizes the multicores while I heard the SuperPI test only utilizes single core. Post your findout here. My P4 is non-HT so I can't compare. Thanks.

http://www.jens.tauchclub-krems.at/diverse...benchmarks.html
*
You are correct, the software does utilize multi core for benchmarking. Super PI will only utilize up to 50% of your core with HT enable.

Dont run 3dmark 06 la.. Will jut make u sad with old sch system. GG! laugh.gif Try 3dmark 03 and compare with ur old one. Should be have a big improve.
*
Just now while replying half way,the electricity cut off for 5 seconds. mad.gif My whole area was black off. I ran 3D mark 03 just now,the screen froze at CPU 2 test. Not sure why. Suspect my copy has a bit problem. 3D mark 06 can screen through all the test,i don't think is my system instable. wink.gif I would expecting a 12k on 3D mark 03 if can run finish on all test.

What are the scores for HT-on and HT-off in Fritz Benchmark? Did the HT wins by a large margin?

I guess the Fritz benchmark will win by a little bit margin, not huge one.

Hi e_k1117,bought it at about RM200 like that.Well on psu,my Acbel 450w psu can stand for it. I've tested the card with folding running for 5 days. I've no idea with the maximum load on the card, guess won't > 150w on it.

Have you bought a new card for yourself? Your psu can't stand with your new card is it?
