ray, u hit the spot~!
that's what we all have been trying 2 say all these while.
simple scenario: a motorbike. can carry 2 person max, consider this HT. you will only need 2 make one trip for 2 person. but if u r looking for speed, then one person on the motorbike will be the best for speed achievements.
Pros and cons of HT. So HT plays a more significant role in single core compared to multicores (motorbike compared to bus, lorry, etc.)
@edmin,a very good scenario with a direct & clear info here. I'm very happy with my rig now,the 3GB of RAM really boost a lot from 1GB. I google that the kignston RAM i got is also a gem,can do 250MHz. simple scenario: a motorbike. can carry 2 person max, consider this HT. you will only need 2 make one trip for 2 person. but if u r looking for speed, then one person on the motorbike will be the best for speed achievements.

afaik, HT, be it the old one or new one, is still pretty much apps dependent... it still requires optimization from the software to make use of HT, else it's negative on the apps (games are the example)...
but heck, Intel already stressed many times that i7 was not designed for gamers but workstations and servers instead...
I agree cause there are many game applications are not beneficial from Ci7.but heck, Intel already stressed many times that i7 was not designed for gamers but workstations and servers instead...
