To all the pros out there I need some help on by iphone 2Gen

I was running iphone version 2.1 and it was working superbly well,

however due to some reason, I was thinking of upgrading this version to 2.2.1, and since i thought iphone is officially launched in Malaysia and would

not require any jail break for my 2G version,

and so i download the 2.2.1 via itune and installed it to my previously break iphone 2Gen.

The update went smoothly until the last past, my phone now is locked and the itune is only showing the following message,

"Sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported,
only compatible SIM cards from a supported Carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the Sim card that come with your Iphone or visit a supported carrier store to receive a replacement sim card"

-i am using maxis hotlink prepaid
-this phone is not a 3G iphone but the 2nd Gen iphone.

Please help...i have tried searching around the net but most of the post are for 3G phones .... huhu @.@

I have tried the following link given by one of the reader <http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/790913> but i just cant find similar issue in the post..
i have gone through this post <http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1880> but when it come to stage 2



i should be able to just click "restore" in the itune, however this is what i got in my itune when the phone is plugin



the page for the restore and update does not appear in the itune and i cant proceed with the breaking....please help

*TS manage to get his phone working. He updated his 2G to Fw 2.2.1 without jailbreaking/unlocking thus locking up the phone completely.

While he attempts to restore his firmware again with the iClarified guide on step 1 to 2 using iTunes, iTunes will not present the page to restore due to the phone is in LOCKED state.

Only when TS ws asked to use Quickpwn and follow iClarified guide from step 4 onwards, he's able to gain back his usage of the iPhone.
