well.... we could have those mini netbooks, with anti glare coating so we can use low lit LCD, wait... iirc OLED use less power.... so then add in a solar battery, *wei yap! design us this lappy now!!*

erm... i rmb reading designs on a nuclear powered battery... iirc the prototype model was around 20cm x 8cm x 4 cm.... so its like 2 laptop batts put together....

with that, i think the lappy you out live you

then again, we have to take into consideration the ethical use of nuclear power, if we are sticking to the conventional uranium 235 isotope.... because refining uranium 235 can be produce into a atom bomb.

Also we could consider other chemicals which are similar to the decomposing nature of U235.... erm... i rmb plutonium and discussion on Radium....

oh yea, the reason why people want to use alcohol as a fuel is because you can get alcohol from plants like sugar cane, by fermenting its sucrose... so basically the carbon footprint (the way carbon changes) is,

Carbon dioxide in the air > (through photosynthesis) > becomes sucrose in plant > (by frementation) > alcohol, ethanol iirc > (complete combustion) > Carbon dioxide again....

so the CO2 in = CO2 out... so its eco friendly

erm.... Uranium's stable isotope is U 238, while we can produce U235, cause they are less stable, and we want to use that unstability.

So in 1 atom of U235, we push in a neutron, and that makes the Uranium atom so unstable that it breaks apart into 3 neutrons and another element. From that 3 neutrons, 1 will enter a U238 to give no reaction, but the other 2 will enter 2 other U235 to break them apart again. So its a massive chain reaction.

iirc, there is a extremely small mass lost when a U235 breaks apart, and that loss in mass is converted to enegry, that's where the famous equation,

E= mc²

E = enegry, m = mass lost, c= speed of light. The speed of light is approx, = 299 792 458 m / s

so when we square it, we get a huge number..... multiply the extremely small lost in mass, we get alot of energy (remember that this is not proven, it just works, so scietist use it.) that's how the first atom bomb was created.

phew.... 6 new post since i started typing this...

yea, until there is no more U235 left...

Added on May 3, 2009, 9:54 pmoh yea, this reaction is extremely fast, so we don't notice the enegry being slowly release, just a sudden explosion of enegry, ever saw clips on a atom bomb blast? its scary

imo i don't think this green card thing will catch on, they just start producing card which can run a lower voltage and keep the same clockspeed
