For those interested to install Ubuntu , please follow the tutorial below.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

As required by fellow forumers here, below will be the answer for ur question:

1. @ xproc: how long does it take to get everything fully install?
answer: for plain installation from the disc, it will take only 10 to 15 minutes for s41 and s42. but, for installing codec and compiz setup, it will take 15 minutes more if u have internet connection that promise a download speed of 60kb/s. Up to this level, the OS is ready to edit office documents, play movies, musics, pdf reading, iso mounting and burning, firefox ready and pidgin ( messenger client in ubuntu) ready. So it's basically fully function-able.

2. @ john : pros n cos.
answer: pros : -faster response and less system requirement,
-better system file management (no disk defrag is required)
-faster start up than vista and xp
-a lot eyecandy ( useful for productivity like multi tasking and faster navigating trough application)
-GUI is better and easier to use. Themes and fonts can be changed anytime with just a few clicks
-better battery life (up to 3 hours half running 9600M GT
-use open-source software, so no *ahem* is required
cons : -gaming is possible (windows game) but some may need custom compilation
-...erh....i can't think of any cons else, other than gaming prob.
conclusion : -it is best for productivity, but inferior to windows in gaming.
3. @ games supported : those not using direct x 10 shud be playable. for example CS. Dota, Underground 2, most wanted and etc.
