do a SWOT analysis - strength, weakness, opportunities, threat
and then decide how to maximise your strengths to turn it into $$$$$
and rectify your weakness so sh!t won't happen
and then about the games section, i used to be a hardcore mmorpg....
felt there's a lack of informative websites to provide info on how to play the game, especially in malaysia
there are a lot of sites from taiwan or china but never malaysia......
so that could be an area to target

yeah but nothing not legal though .

how about on business in IT world .. how to setup shop and such

i think a major setback is ppl are still not prepared to buy things off the internet with their credit cards unless they are forced to....

i think a good way to start is with a plan
what to setup, who's your audience, what u'll 'sell' to your audience, what's the startup capital, estimated turnover, estimated returns and then estimated ROI

list all that down first then deal with the technicals later

there's a news article on how to quit your job and start a web based business and lyn is among them
but these are not 'middle mans' where the risk of getting conned is still with the user

ROI = return on investment meaning how fast u breakeven (making enough profits to cover your setup costs)

it's too general, a good idea would be something like:
audience - internet savvy ppl aged 20-30 in need of help (no internet = how to help in forum lol)
what to sell - information, tutorials, guides, wikis of xxxx, xxxxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxxx

no worries it's just basics of starting business 101 
and yeah from some research i found out source of revenue of websites = google adsense but u'll need the volume and the bling bling banners so ppl would actually click on it to get the big $$$$$$$

adsense was what started or gave the project the initial jump start, in another sense actually relying on the clicks is not a good idea... we should focus on volume of traffic,

however more traffic = more bandwidth = bigger host plan = more $$ to fork out

so its a thin line between making profits and not

yes ... "should" is also hard to say .. 

actually talking about those banners

i suggest every section get their respective banners, we find shops that are willing to advertise and help them design it
ie. hardware components - maybe amd????
laptop - maybe benq?????
open source - ubuntu?????
games - new mmorpg?????

and a new suggestion:
food. i know there are some other blogs that recommends good food, but there is no website/forum where everything is grouped together to recommend ppl good places around klang valley, northern, southern and east msia. we can help restaurant owners advertise themselves too (of course with a price  )

oh yea just to say jea .. here is a list of jobs

administrative = main setup/maintenance of the site
technical = all the hosting and server sided requirements
traffic = In charge of obtaining traffic
advertising = In charge of advertising
moderation = keeping thing in order
content publishing = in touch with latest happenings

any others?
