Added on May 6, 2009, 11:08 pmQuestion: Will Garmin Mobile for Blackberry work in Canada?

Answer:
Garmin Mobile for Blackberry does have mapping detail for Canada and will work in Canada as long as your carrier has data coverage there. At this time, subscribers are limited to USA based cellular carriers and customers with a USA address. When traveling from your home service location be sure to know your cellular carriers roaming agreement and if any charges are passed to you. Your cellular carrier can tell you more information about charges when leaving your home service location.

Added on May 6, 2009, 11:09 pmQuestion: Can I use Garmin Mobile for Blackberry when I am in Europe?
Answer:

No, Garmin Mobile for Blackberry does not have mapping coverage available for Europe yet. The mapping available for Garmin Mobile for Blackberry is currently limited to Italy and North America which includes the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Canada.

you guys need to understand how does the blackberry come about.. what are its strength and who are its major customers..

it's straight funny that you folks here only treat this device as some sort of consumer stuff or associated it with a pda..

if you look back into the history of blackberry and how such a tiny company called rim expanded their services, you'll probably find alot of answers to your current questions..

.. and please, blackberry is not all about push email (it's getting a bit cliche here)

Most of us using BIS not BES, so to make things easy to be digest why not simplify it to the need of consumer level. i believe most of the people here not an advance user, so what so wrong about having all this conversation. as you can see even many others still asking about the very basic advantage of using BlackBerry and why this why that, etc..
We might not as knowledgeable as u, we might not work in telco company like you. so if you not agree with our conversation here and want to do a heavy topic or in depth technical review and discussion go ahead make ur own thread. thank you

you might be barking up the wrong tree there..
i'm not referring anywhere near BIS/BES to begin with..

there's something that inherently makes a blackberry.. a blackberry, and i don't see you guys come to realize that..

and you're beginning to blindly throw around assumptions (knowledgable la, telco company la, etc.)

those areas that i'm referring to.. they're public domain info..

so, you want to share?

IMHO , what makes a blackberry unique is the BES, a VPN on your mobile.

go read up on the history of blackberry.. particularly what happened during 9/11..

maybe, just maybe.. you'd discover it's more than what you've just described above.. the easy way out is spoon-feeding, of course.

C'mon if people have different point of view than u whats so wrong about it..
i believe this BlackBerry no need to relate it with 9/11. we just use it and share what we know about it. while u busy want to condemn people because ur knowledge and our view different as you.. take it easy dude.
u dont want to share or open new thread we are fine with it. but with you hinting you know more and better about this device but dont want to share it then dont bother to join a forum

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting myself a Blackberry. I would like to get some clarification. To my understanding, using Blackberry with Celcom/Maxis plan means I get to read my yahoo mail, gmail or office mail from my Blackberry anytime, anywhere. I can also check Facebook, blogs, any website or google whatever I want, at anytime? It's like using laptop but smaller and not limited to places with wifi?

I have a Nokia with wifi but it's old model and not all website can be browse easily at wifi spot. So I wonder if Blackberry can do that.

Thanks smile.gif

I'm writing this base on my experience here..

well, my dad just recently got his blackberry curve from celcom.. after a few weeks of using, my dad accidentally drop the phone on a table - about like 20 CM HIGH only and the phone keypad doesn't work anymore..

he went to celcom to get it fixed because there isn't any blackberry center in the state, so he went there and the celcom people said that it will take 2 weeks or more to get it done. The person in charge also said that they have to send it over to HQ first and has to pass through many procedures which takes a lot hell of the time..

conclusion, blackberry is ideal phone for business for its good email capability... But in the sense of CUSTOMER SERVICE at this moment is really poor.. There isn't any blackberry center that i could find here in Penang.. About the durability of the phone, i'm not sure.. Nokia phone does not need to wait 2 weeks to get a phone to be fixed because Nokia center is everywhere in Malaysia..

Talking about the features, the backup capability on Blackberry is really bad.. They do not support vcf contact files, so a little disadvantages there for those who want their contacts to be transfered to blackberry phone. The good side is, they have this blackberry messenger where you can actually CHAT with other blackberry users through packet data. They also have other messengers like MSN and Yahoo.. Blackberry supports google maps too thumbup.gif . Their email capability is superb, one of the best so far, you can read gmail, yahoo, and also your office mails.. Browsing internet with ease on blackberry curve as they have this mouse which you can control it using your roller pad.

I dropped my BOLD 20cm high before and result nothing happened to it. my Bold restart by itself and only the battery cover come out from the phone but battery still intact.

blackberry selling in Malaysia via telco operator. the telco operator have difficulties to get spare part for the berry.

the backup capability on Blackberry is really bad<-- I dont agree with it.. I used blackberry desktop manager to back up my whole device i mean here everything. From contacts, call log also my theme, application, settings, ring tone profile, sms, blackberry msgr contact, and it work great, and i even can choose in particular which one i want to load back to my device.
About the vcf contact files i dont think its bad back up just caused by unable to import .vcf contact files.. u can sync ur nokia phone with microsoft outlook, and then sync the microsoft outlook to the Blackberry.
Other than outlook u can sync BlackBerry with GoogleSYNC and the desktop manager thumbup.gif
