Intel's argument for HT is that u get 50% more performance for 10-20% more transistors... but lately, AMD refut back... sth along the lines of real man use real cores...

QUOTE(mav910623 @ Apr 27 2009, 01:58 AM) lol .. i never read the other post .. didnt even know u all talking abt HT .. lol northy better OC thn prescott .. i beg to differ Prescott = Longer pipeline = better OC .. correct? but ofcorse heat is an issue as u say, heat... pressy already so hot on default, hard to push further... northy is so much cooler...

QUOTE(mav910623 @ Apr 27 2009, 02:01 AM) Agree on heat issue .. but the pipeline length is another issue for OCing .. am i rite? i can't really remember abt the issue with pipeline... iirc, longer pipeline means higher rate of error as well, even though it helps in pushing the clock... but man, i used a pressy 3GHz before, idle already 60+C, on load 80+C... how to OC...

QUOTE(HL Milk @ Apr 27 2009, 02:03 AM) I heard AMD / ATI plan to change the way GPU is cooled, not CPU. Quite interested on the way to cool the CPU too. butcurrently, wat else besides fans??? Nvidia even get CM to make turbo fan for them already...

QUOTE(mav910623 @ Apr 27 2009, 02:05 AM) The temp issue is true.. but in the intel thread they said northy cannot pass 4Ghz .. oni prescott can do such feat .. the prescott even with its larger cache has a longer pipeline so back to square 1 .. lol but the pipeline allows for good OC .. from wat to 4GHz??? iirc, Pressy go all the way to 3.8GHz, but Northy-C maxed out at 3.4GHz...

but then hor... Intel say they got a composite material, that is much better than High-K that they are using now... they claim can lower TDP of current CPU by 90%... imagine 13W Core i7...
