is possible to make shrimp tank with that size but u have to bear in mind tat the smaller tank u have..the less stable ur water parameter.....but if u were to keep CRS..then is advisable to keep them in at least 2ft and above tank...i have a RCS tank and the size is just 18" x 8" x 8"....heheheeh
*
so how do u maintain the water parameter?

maintain..hmm....matured filter media and stabilized water...

nvr touch these 2 things since the day i start keeping RCS....

well...RCS is more hardy than CRS..so yea...so with consistent temp and stabilized water..i think u can keep it tho....

hi again all.
need some pointers here, hope u guys can help.

1) for a 75cmX30cmX45cm (this is considered a 2 1/2ft tank right?), which model of eheim canister filter is suitable for it? & what is the estimated price for it (new unit)?

2) i'm planning to make it a full-fledged planted aquarium, & i'm really into the "jungle"-type scape with lots of greens. i presume i'll be needing a CO2 system for it, thus, how much $$$ do i need for a good CO2 system (complete)? & what do i need to look in for when getting a CO2 system?

thank you :-)
*
1) bout eheim filter, im not too sure bout the model # but if not mistaken, i did asked around bout rm450-500++ i think... didnt buy, decided to buy el cheapo canister filter at this moment...

2)
- tank depends on sizes.... i bought 2nd hand 4kg tank still have c02 bout 170.... got offer also 2kg tank bout rm120... new i think bout rm 200++ onwards for 2kg if not mistaken...
- regulator got manual & soleniod type, bout 85 & 280 respectively...
- u need also valve check (very cheap rm 5 onwards)
- bubble counter bout rm10 cheap 1 also...
- glass diffuser also got few choices range from rm15 onwards...
- hose

if u go all ADA products it wont be that cheap.... countless times more expensive...

i would suggest to do it on ur own.... just wanna share my experience... im once, few months ago, just had to know this hobby... went to a lfs (small 1), buy everything lumpsum, ask him to scape, after a week bring tank home... thn i start to read & read & read... thn only understand the rational behind it... thn also i realised the lfs didnt explain or rather didnt 'follow' some of the recommended or i would say principle of aquascaping...

thn i started to do on my own for my 2nd tank... it becomes more interesting when u see the progress by ur own hand... if it died also, nevermind, keep study and continue to learn as u experience doing it rather than asking them to do it...

this is my own experience & my preference as i already did that...

just to add... saw some lfs selling led type for nano tank... but i dun believed that ist for planted tank... unless u r using all low light plants... the led (current) lamp for nano tank merely for cosmetic purposes.... imo...

in my case... im using only 1.5ft tank with height of bout 35cm... using only 1 55w powered light...

initially the glosso growing horizontally, but once they get overlapping, start growing vertically...

my photoperiod bout 5hrs/day and on at 7pm-12am...

is it possible because of no light at day time they will start to grow vertically?

starting from today, i set 4 hrs day time, 4 hrs nite time...

is my 55w is enough?

Looking good shortpants..

55w for a 1.5feet is good enough IMHO. - but 5 hours?? I don't think so..
My tanks are all lighted for at least 8 hours.. some run for 10 LOL ( but 10.. u gotta know what you're doing leh..XD)

Also, I agree with playerseeker when he mentioned about looking at other factors other than temperature..
*
last time i did 10 hrs but i got algea attacked already... can be seen in my pics also... then reduce to 8 hrs... still the same... now doing 8 hrs, 4 hrs day time 4 hrs nite time... this to reduce, i believed, glosso growing verticle coz day time still got some lite if i did not swith on... lets see how it goes...

i did some triming and also taken out some glosso and replanted on the other side of the scape... this to fastern up growing hehehe...

hi all, 2 days ago i bought a brazillian weed like the one shown in fongzai92's pic next to his co2 diffuser.
today its like turning yellowish and sorta blackish on the stem.
The fish shop keeper told me that it doesnt require strong sunlight and better even without the sunlight.
My tank does have bichirs and clown loaches to provide the do2 and fertilizer etc...
why is the plant dying? is it cuz i salt my water (to prevent parasites on my fish)?
sad.gif

is there any plants anyone can recommend me for a 10% salted aqurium?

Many thanks in advance.
*
most of the time when i bought new plants, it will melt initially, later it will grow new 1...

wow.. Kinda expensive the ADA branded sand and soil.
I went to aquarium shop.. They recommend me the normal sand with nutrien 1.. Around 3x for a packet..
*
bro... rm30 for a packet of how many kg / litter?

ada soil is now around rm80 for 9kg....

if 30 for 3kg, means quite expensive if non ada soil for rm90 - 9kg...
