I checked with Unifi CS before, Incoming SMS, including OTP is free during roaming, while outgoing SMS charges RM0.50 and that can be used to extend your SIM validity for 3 months.

You may consider unifi #bebas plan or Hotlink prepaid 365.

thank you very much!
I was thinking of leaving my sim cards in Malaysia on an old phone and charge it in order to receive OTPs but that is not needed now I guess

Sorry, just realized you mentioned about roaming, there will be roaming charges am I right?
Need to activate roaming in order to receive sms?
Looks like need to port out to other telcos to not incur these charges

For outgoing call and sms yes there will be charged. For data you need to purchase data roaming in order to use it.

Prepaid for most telco international roaming (IR) is activated by default. You may check with customer service before leaving country.

With IR, you can make/receive call and sms, and if you do not need to use data, please turn off DATA ROAMING in your phone settings and recommended to choose 2G/3G as your preferred network.

For call/sms roaming rate you can check the service provider website.

In summary when you are roaming:
Making call -- Charge
Receiving call -- Charge (Please deactivate Voicemail service before leaving Msia as it will be charged as receiving call)
Send SMS -- Charge
Receiving SMS -- Free

I'm currently running on an old Maxis surfmore50 postpaid plan (5GB), thought I'd start looking to update my plan to a new prepaid or postpaid plan that is more economical.
Well, turns out I'm way out of touch with this topic. I have no idea what to be looking out for these days. confused.gif
I tried googling for comparisons and closest I got to was Techrakyat's Best Prepaid Plans Comparison Malaysia and iMoney's Best Postpaid Mobile Plan In Malaysia comparisons (can't post URL link, account too new). Besides the information provided in these 2 sites, is there anything else I should be considering?

Also, what is this "hotspot" in telco plans? Why is there a separate data cap?

All help is appreciated, thank you. icon_question.gif

Hotspot mean u can share your data to other devices.
For those unlimited plan, normally hotspot is restricted or limited.

Hi, I'm using old Digi postpaid 50 plan that cost me RM53.00 monthly.

The plan gives me 20GB data, but 5GB on weekends + monthly 10GB YouTube and 100 SMS. (Not sure about calls, the mydigi app doesn't show calls for me)

I find the 5GB weekend cap restricting, any postpaid plans to recommend? I have WiFi at home so looking to cut down on telco. Never used even half of the 20GB.

My monthly usage for data is around 7~GB, only social media apps, no games.
