BTW... please do mention what is your preference...
Comfort, Handling??? is noise important also???

Below is the price list for the size that you wan

205/50/R16
Hankook V8RS - RM270/pc @ Siang Sin Tyre, Mergong Alor Setar (3 July 2009, bought 4pcs)
Falken ZIEX-912 - RM265 @ Jooi Seng Klang (Apr 2009)
Michelin Pilot Preceda 2 - RM420 @ Wangsa Maju KL (Apr 2009)
Michelin Primacy LC - RM380 @ Ban Hooi Klang (Apr 2009)
Bridgestone Potenza RE-001 (japan) - RM 340 @ puchong
Yokohama S.Drive (japan) - RM 320 @ puchong (inc bal & alignment)

205/55/R16
Falken Ze 912 RM 245 Hock Li Klang (Jan 09)
Bridgestone Potenza RE050 (Japan) - RM680.00 - CN TWO SERVICES Ulu Klang (24/3/2009)
Bridgestone RE001 Adrenalin (Thailand) - RM460.00 - CN TWO SERVICE Ulu Klang (24/3/2009)
Hankook V8Rs - RM 300 @ Bridgestone Taman Desa - next to Vityas ( Mar 09)
Hankook V12 Evo - RM 280 @ Teoh Brothers, Sentosa Klang ( April 09). Incld bal + inst + nitrogen[/color]
toyo proxes t1r - RM 370 - JB - Toyo - Tmn Rinting (dec 08)
Michelin PP2(Thai) RM410 Klang Ban Hooi
Toyo C1S - RM360 (May09) ,Ed tyres S.Alam Treadwear 300,AA,A
Pirelli P7 - Rm350 - Klang , include Balancing & Alignment (Jul09)

For C1S there is some forumer feedback that it is a performance tire with comfort...
it will not make ur ride suffer from harshness...
but please make sure you priorities the comfort or handling... then ask urself whether noise from the tire is ok or not...
if you say comfort... then you should go to Michelin Primacy LC, Falken 912 (cheap and reliable)...
A lil comfort with performance tire you can try out Hankook V12... very hot item for the size 195/55 R15... it will not make ur ride very harsh... if not try out the more expensive duo Toyo C1S and also Toyo T1R... this 3 tires will give you a lil comfort but it's performance of cornering and handling cannot compare with the tires below...
Michelin PP2, BS Adrenalin, Hankook RS series, Yokies S drive... but it will be a bit more expensive... smile.gif
if the handling is priority then those 4 tires have harder side wall tire is your choice...

remember make sure you wan comfort or handling...

oops i forgot to mention that. more towards comfort i guess, since it's a passenger's car, not a driver's car tongue.gif

hmm, the S.Drive price is interesting, RM320.
*
if really want comfort... no for S Drive... u wan comfort then i assume noise should be minimal also...
try Falken 912 since you said it is a passenger tires... smile.gif cheap...
others i scare it might be a bit harsh for you... if you don mind a lil expensive go for Michelin Primacy LC, Toyo C1S...
but Toyo C1S only 205/55 R16 have... try to ask around and see...

what i see from the list... actually 205/55 R16 tires actually is a bit cheaper... smile.gif

I wonder why 175/70/R13 which is the most common standard size for proton is not in the list ?
Anyway, this is my research

Silverstone M3, RM95, most tyre shop is Shah Alam and KL (Gombak, Setapak)
Sime Tyre Astar 100, RM 90~RM95, SA and KL
*
that size not much ppl use already... Sime... can throw grips sucks.... Silverstone so so la...
try Yokohama A Drive or Michelin XM1 if you can pay a lil more...

Continental SC3 870.00 Quicksave Aug 2009

u are towards Extreme tires... but do you mind a lil comfort as well?? if ok then you can give F1 Assy a try...
you can give Michelin PP2 a try if you don mind it is a bit expensive... but don get cheated by both PP2 and F1 Assy threads... it is quite good...
Yokohama S Drive also not bad at all... Toyo C1S is a lil on comfort as well.. Hankook V12 is more comfort but handling also not bad...

Yes, I am towards Extreme tires biggrin.gif, which mean ZIEX 912, Hankook V12evo, F1 asymmetry, Michelin Primacy are all OUT.

I want grip. Not tires life biggrin.gif

RevSpec is a litte interesting. So is Toyo C1S.

Current, I have shop offer Goodyear F1 GSD3 215/45/17(http://www.goodyear.com.my/eagle_f1.html) for RM380 installed with balancing.
I think I go for Goodyear RS SPORT (http://www.goodyear.com.my/eagle_rs_sport.html)
You can't beat the Racing Silica Compound tires for just RM400 installed. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Will give you updates. Keep up the good works.
*
well don get cheated by F1 Assy... it is extreme also if not mistaken... it is comfort with good amount of grips... quite a numbers of them using it now... don trust me... ask ppl in autoworld forum...

QUOTE(pky @ Oct 3 2009, 12:04 PM)

Yokohama A drive (RM260)
Yokohama C drive (?)
*
well you can try Michelin Priamcy LC as i of them said...for me BS tires is not that good also... their top range tires is good but over expensive...
Yokohama C Drive also not bad as iti s similar cat with Primacy LC...

Price list from AW forum

205/55/R16
BS AR10 - RM310 @ Mica BM (Nov 08)
Yokohama A Drive R1 (AR01) - RM280 @ Banlihin Tire & Batteries Sdn Bhd, Tmn Johor Jaya JB (May 08)

from the listing Toyo C1S also available in ur range but the price is a bit steep... Primacy LC if not mistaken also around there...

QUOTE(chgchksg128 @ Oct 3 2009, 01:56 PM)
How much is Yokohama A drive? I heard the grips lose very fast?
How much of Michelin XM1?

BTW, the price I survey for 175/70/R13 is still mayb not the cheapest. I heard the chepeast is in Klang, mayb can get below RM90
*
well bro... those cheaper tires faster lose grip than these 2... don trust me try la... sure you will complain noisy and also traction is not good...
Yokohama A drive and also Michelin XM1 give you comfort...try XM1... sure you can feel the difference...
are you using GY or Sime now??? then you will feel a big gap of differences... my fren feedback is wow... a lil expensive but comfort and quiet...
BTW if you wanna use that size of tire to corner hard... cannot la... it's grip and handling will give way...
upgrade to 15" if you wanna have better tires and also more grip...

just bought Dunlop Formula D01 this morning for my vios..
tyre profile 195/55/R15 at RM600 (4 pieces).
at first want to use 50 series but the shop said it will be to thin and not good for my sport rim..
so i stayed with 55 series..
still not able to test the tyre yet..
any comment from other user?

fren go to tire discussion forum http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1059355/+280

BTW Dunlop D01 is ok ok only... for daily drive not for aggressive drive and also spirited drive in the rain...

Hankook V12 and Falekn 912 will be around RM200 in Klang...

Just some update.
change 4 tire Michelin 195/60/R15 XM1.After some survey, found the best deal is EM210/tyre,aligment add RM15.
But since my alignment out some much(my langgar stone untill my tire torn), have too add another RM85 for add a smth like bolt. Pay cash. CC need to add 2%.
*
it is Chamber Nuts... well if the tilting is out by a lot ok lo... but sometimes it is just another gimmick to earn more...

QUOTE(prelude3372 @ Oct 5 2009, 05:38 PM)
Hai Bro,

What would be the price for 205/50/R16?

The price list I have received

Dunlop (MY made) - RM260
Falken (IND made) - RM 230
Falken (THD made) - RM 320
Yokohama - RM 295

By the way, is tyre made in Indonesia ok?
Also, If I'm looking for tyre that would handle good in the rain. What would be the suggestion? I'm ok with noisy tyre. As long as it has good grips during driving in rainy days.
I'm driving a Prelude Gen 4.

price list for ur size...

205/50/R16
Falken ZIEX-912 - RM265 @ Jooi Seng Klang (Apr 2009)
Michelin Premacy LC - RM380 @ Ban Hooi Klang (Apr 2009)

Bridgestone Potenza RE-001 (japan) - RM 340 @ puchong
Yokohama S.Drive (japan) - RM 320 @ puchong (inc bal & alignment)

Hankook V8RS, Hankook V12, Michelin PP2, Bridgestone Adrenalin RE-001, Yokohama S drive is all UHP tires...
it will surely better than the Falken, Dunlop that u have asked... not sure which Yokohama tires they give you...

that is over the basic 3% rules... 3% plus or minus from ur stock size is not recommended... it will give ur milage meter a false reading and ur speedo meter also...
Falken is a step higher than XM1 as XM1 only a basic comfort tire... while 912 with a lil performance... and also cheap... smile.gif

hi guys,

would appreciate it if I can know what my choices are to get a 195/55/R16 tyre size in the market. If I can afford it I would get Michelin because past experience was very good, but I do not mind settling for alternatives from Bridgestone and Falken if the tyres are value-for-money. I would try to stay away from Continental due to bad past experience....

thanks...
*
y not u give 205/50 R16 a try... that size is odd size if not mistaken...
205/50/R16
Hankook V8RS - RM270/pc @ Siang Sin Tyre, Mergong Alor Setar (3 July 2009, bought 4pcs)
Falken ZIEX-912 - RM265 @ Jooi Seng Klang (Apr 2009)

Bridgestone Potenza RE-001 (japan) - RM 340 @ puchong
Yokohama S.Drive (japan) - RM 320 @ puchong (inc bal & alignment)

u can look for Hankook V12 evo also... it will be cheaper around V8RS price... BS not that value-for-money...

for Myvi 195/50 will give u more closer reading with the OEM fitting... 195/55 give you more comfort... both 50 and 55 series already consider as low profile... 60 series is normal... majority then cars OTR today is on lower profile tire that give you better handling... smile.gif
Hankook V12 at that 2 size is Max RM200... on May i bought in klang for RM180/pc (55 series)...
if you ask me... V12 will give you in between the Falken 912 or Michelin XM1 and BS RE001 or Michelin PP2 or Yokohama S Drive... it give you a lil comfort while the handling is not far away from Michelin PP2...
can consider this tire as Cheap and Worth the value that we pay for... for PP2 and S Drive at that size u need at least RM240/pc... or RE001 around RM270... further more if you prefer comfort ride more than harsh ride u can take off this 3 tires in your mind...
lastly u only pay RM190/pc, you get around 80%~90% of the performance of those and u save RM50/tire or RM200 all round... y not?

it should be more or less and it is only 5% more in thickness and the demand of this 2 is there...
if you don mind sitting in a horse u can try PP2 or S Drive... good handling... but Hankook V12 beats them on total ranking in a test done by Opel using its Corsa fitted with 214/45 R17 if not mistaken... smile.gif
PP2 get the hands up in the wet condition as it cuts thru water puddle very good...
