if u can find the se edition, get it! cos those rims are hot! and oh, another thing u should know is that the hyundai getz's spare tyre is a very small tyre, sort of like the kinda tyre that they use in the "kereta sorong semen" u know... and u have to pump it to 420kpa, which the pump could not manage cos they can only pump 400kpa maximum. and it's damn scary pumping the thing at such high pressure, afraid the tyre meletup. hehe. and my getz didnt have the fc measurement thing, maybe old model kot. since the new one have vvt and better fc, it'll be better than the already good car it is! so why not? and dont worry about space cos the thing feels like driving a sedan, but parking is still easy. spacious car, and kinda wide. cos i think it's easier to hug my gf in the car when im driving my saga. in the getz i have to reach out further. hehe. and i dont think it's worth waiting for the i20... just look at i10's ridiculous price tag...
a few more things i love and hate about the getz
pros:
-stereo has mp3
-it has rear wiper
-did i already mentioned that it was fun to drive? and the engine sounds like a sporty 2.0 coupe. totally different than my saga's 1.3 campro which sounds like a vacuum cleaner when u floor it.
-when the car is loaded with people, and gets heavier, it kinda feels sportier cos it got a bit lower, and the pickup is still there. different from a saga, just ride with 2 or 3 people and it feels like driving a school bus.
-dual airbags. pretty important if u love ur gf.

cons:
-seatbelt damn tight cos it's the type that gets tighter easily, and hard to get loose..
-wiper doesnt work well, but maybe cos never changed kot...
-and since my gf car is fully imported, the aircon is not very strong, and it still has the heater function, which is of course, useless... unless u go to genting very often.. hehe.
-the dashboard and other trimmings feel like cheap plastic
-i got overtaken by a makcik in a kelisa even though i floored the pedal when the light went green. dunno what kinda turbo that makcik use, or maybe the pickup slow, but i think the pickup is great.
-the boot a bit small, but hey, it's a hatchback. still can fit rm200 worth of groceries from tesco.
-but u can live with all these stuff. it's the kinda thing that makes u miss ur car when u sell it.

Older Hyundai Getz do not have Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology, hence it got high FC.

Now with VVT, Getz 1.4 is really a worthy investment.
Inokom Getz Alpha 1.4L Engine does not come with CVVT. CVVT is only available on the newer 1.6L on the latest accent or 2.0L on the latest sonata/elantra/coupe

act pre face lift 1.3 getz yang consume more fc...,
current one wit 1.4 engine the fc is ok....

instead of buying new inokom getz 1.4..., why not u wait till the replacement model for getz release...

named hyundai i20...
shud b this year the car release.., but dunno when..

Not too sure when will Sime Darby bring in the i20. Even the i30 that was launched much earlier than i10 & i20 is not even available in Malaysia.

On fuel consumption, I get between 9.2L - 10.0L per 100KM as Im a heavy footer and often drive aggressively in both city + highway. RM50 gives me about 280KM, that is about 18sen per KM. For those who drive more sensibly will get better mileage. Fuel consumption aside, the Getz is a solid car and its fun to drive. Acceleration might be slower but with its rigid body, it is pretty stable at high speeds. Plus it comes with 5 year warranty.

Some complaints are the steering plastic texture is a bit dry and rough and those with long legs would need to adjust the seat much futher back to get the right distance. The Panasonic CD player is good as it accepts MP3 CD and Line in input but the speakers I find it so so only. However I do like the small like touches like built in mirrors on both sun shades, illuminated power window switches, teh tarik hook behind the passenger seat, dual 12V power outlets and the abundance of storage comparments.

The one I got is the full spec version with dual airbags, 4 disc brakes and ABS + EBD.

Danny, I believe the one you mention is Hyundai CBU Fully import version. The localised inokom has some extra goodies such as a more detailed meter with fuel consumption, distance to empty. Other extras also include adjustable height for driver seat and driver arm rest. Of course, CBU would be better built. The inokom one now is more localised. Even the glass and rear door struts are local parts and not from Korea.

the teh tarik hook helps a lot when u go to pasar malam. cos u cannot hang ur stuff at the door lock cos the door lock isnt the same as the ones u find in saga or kancil. but can only hang one stuff la...

Inokom Getz 1.4 does come with VVT.

What did you told is true for these new version of Accent/Sonata/Elantra/Coupe. CVVT stands for Continuous Variable Valve Timing.

Getz uses Variable Valve Timing.

source: http://kereta.info/hyundai-getz-specificat...eplaced-by-i20/

excerpt here:

There is a new 1.4 litre petrol engine with variable valve timing for enhanced performance and fuel efficiency, and a revised 1.1 litre four-cylinder petrol unit. The entry level engine produces 67 PS (66bhp) and remains exceptionally frugal, returning 51.4mpg in official Combined Cycle driving, while having been revised to meet Euro IV emissions standards. The intelligent four-speed automatic transmission has been developed specifically for the Getz.

There is always a misconception when it comes to variable valve timing for Hyundai engines. Their VVT engines are labeled as CVVT. The alpha engine used in the Malaysian Getz does not come with VVT at all. This is evident with Kah Bintang's 2008 Accent which the 1.4 is the same engine as the getz's 1.4. The 1.4 version does not come with CVVT however the 1.6 does.

Kah Bintang 1.4/1.6 CVVT specs & review: http://www.kahbintang.com/2008Accent/2008accentpower.html & http://paultan.org/archives/2008/01/23/200...al-and-16-auto/

I believe that website has quoted from a UK site which most likely facelifted with an actual revised 1.4L engine with CVVT which is also used in the new i20 & i30. But in Malaysia, we are still using the standard 1.4L alpha engine. If the Getz here has CVVT, I'm sure Sime Darby would be highlighting this on its brochures. Hope this clarifies.

Getz 1.4 Manual is very good in highway cruise. Frequently cruising at 90-110km/h is recommended. Any higher than this can lead to increased FC.

Below is the lowest FC I ever got. Now under normal driving and traffic condition I faced daily, the FC was 6.3l/100km.

Older Hyundai Getz do not have Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology, hence it got high FC.

Now with VVT, Getz 1.4 is really a worthy investment.

This car also comfortly climbing hill with full load, as I've tested with five persons and full luggages at rear bonnet during trips from KB to Penang via Grik-Jeli road, due to the high torque churned by the engine. Negotiating corners at 90km/h is also quite a breeze.

Engine Oil selected: Bardhal 5w30 Full Synthetic
Fuel Filter: Genuine Hyundai Oil Filter, sometimes using BOSCH Oil Filter.

If you're getting the Getz, try getting this:
[attachmentid=910061]

It's the Getz SE which comes with the usual + some goodies at the same price..
Not sure whether they still have it though, saw it once selling @ IOI Mall, Puchong..

Hi Jimmy,

Mine is not Special Edition which is offered right now as my rim is still standard. There are quite a number of offering from simedarby lately. Like I noticed that the white one has different interior trim colour on the handle and centre console.

I got mine in August 2008 and it was a 2007 stock. got it for RM55K OTR.

When I got mine, I was a bit unlucky but finally most of the issues are solved. The problems I faced were
a) Front windscreen was defective and there was a distorted wave that gives you a headache when driving. It was a local glass and I got them to replace to imported hyundai glass
b) No ABS light due to wrong meter installed on the car. (High spec should have the meter with ABS bulb installed)

If the car you are buying supposed to come with ABS, you have to make sure you have the right meter installed. I guess the factory guys in Kulim had been fitting the wrong meters.

Maintenance wise is quite ok. If you go for original, expect more expensive. 1 service for me is about RM160 if not mistaken. Parts shouldn't be an issue as it has been quite established in Malaysia. If you want cheaper, there's Hyundai MOBIS parts, which is actually from the same factory as Hyundai ori parts.

Resell value Hyundai/Kia are obviously lower. But I don't see this as a big factor as I never intend this as an investment. Cars are going to depreciate anyway and I don't intend to sell this within a short period of time.

i20 comes in 3 door and 5 door version. Same as getz. They even have a 1.2L Engine too

What year and which model are you getting? Interest rate not sure about that now but you could check with another dealer on the pricing and interest rate to compare the best deal.

2.4 is very low! Very good deal indeed. Price is quite all right for 08 model. I assume this is standard model with 1 airbag without abs. If it is, try asking if they have higher spec with 2 airbag and abs.

Looks like they are raising the interest rate for non-national cars from today onwards.
