Dear,

if u're a beginer in make up, u usually start wif pencil.
liquid is harder to apply compared to pencil, u need practice to perfect the techinique.
we usually use liquid for top lids and pencil for bottom, as the bottom lid may get smeared.

I agree with alilofeverything, liquid definitely needs practice.

Silly me started out using liquid but couldn't draw it nicely, so for the first couple of months (I hardly use makeup) I had to get friends to draw for me. tongue.gif

You get the hang of it quite fast though, and I'm happy to say that I'm sorta good at using liquid d. tongue.gif

However, since I've only used pencil once, I totally suck at that. sad.gif

Pencil won't come out as crisp as liquid, so if you want drama go for liquid but if you want a gentler, everyday look, pencil it is.

Silkygirl's pencils are supposed to be good and cheap, especially their eyelights line.

liquid I'm using in2it's (hehe, still using it. again, I hardly use makeup), but if it takes a long time to dry and if it get's into my eye it will become "stringy". Not sure if other brands are the same though.

I suggest getting something cheaper first la just to practice, so you won't waste the better but more expensive products.

The best thing that I think everyone will agree on is Bobbi Brown's gel eyeliner.

For Retractable eyeliners, I like Revlon colourstay's. I have super oily lids, hence most eyeliners will smudge on me, giving me that lovely panda eyes effect.

I like silkygirl eyelights for their colour selections, but they tend to smude on me as well.

Liquid, I like Kate super sharp and MM eyeliners. For far, no problem with those. For liquids, make sure your liner is completely dry before you start blinking, especially for those who do not have prominent double lids.

To make my eyeliners stay put especially for those that smudges, I would put a eye primer like UDPP and apply eyeshadow on top of the liners. So far this method works for most liners. Only Revlon colourstay's I don't need to have so many steps. Just liner and go.

I agree with the rest of the forummers,...^^ practise makes perfect!!~~

Hmm... I don't like pencil liners much because of having to sharpen it often. I'll try to be unbiased in my review ^^ I have fairly oily eyelids that are like an overlapping double eyelid. The following reviews below are based on the times when I apply the eyeliners without any foundation or eye makeup primers. Might have moisturiser on.

1: Shu Uemura Liner Pencils
Nice and soft. Blends well and doesn't smudge much. The only pencil I've tried so far. Runs a little at the end of the day to the outer corners of my eye. Not crease proof.

2. ZA self sharpening pencil liner
This one is nice and cheap. Has only a few standard colours. Black is very black and it's blendable so it's good for the smokey eye look. Make sure to set it with a little eye shadow just so that it sticks. Not Crease proof.

3. The Body Shop liquid eyeliners.
Meh... I got it everywhere but on my eye. It goes on nice and smooth with a lot of punch to it's colour but it dries out fast and flakes off before half a day. Definitely not crease proof.

4. Shiseido PN(and Maquillage) Liquid Eyeliner pens.
This was good. A subtle shimmer. Doesn't dry out too much. Has a pleasant scent compared to the other cheaper brands. Could do with more funky colours. Smudges a little if sweaty. Crease proof.

5. Bobby Brown gel eyeliner pot.
This was one of the best! Just didn't like using a brush to apply it because that doesn't make it very portable if you want to take it on trips of touch up at work. Lasts a long time too. It's possible the pot will dry up faster than you can use it XD I had mine for 2 years and i use it loads but still there is like half left in the pot. Sad that it's all dry now ;_; Very blendable but not able to achieve thin lines of you brush is not small. Crease proof.

6. Kate retractable pencil liners.
Nice. I have it in white too. Has more staying power than all th other pencils but still smudges at the end of the day. I try to use setting powder to make it stick >.> Not quite so crease proof. But their white liner is one of the best out there that you can buy in a drugstore.

7. Majolica Majorca Liquid eyeliners.
These are so good! I love the colours! The sparkly black is a little too much tho... I like the feel and texture when it goes on. The click pen dispenser(like all shiseido ones) can still leak if you are not careful but you can't keep it upright as it will dry out the brush and make it sorta split in two thus making the drawing part a bit retarded. Only starts flaking after 9 hours of wear so it's find for work. Crease Proof.

8. KissMe HeroineMake Liquid Eyeliner.
The most powerful, long lasting eyeliner I've ever used. Looks good on your eyelids no matter how long it's been on there. The package says it's smudgeproof, waterproof and tearproof. I dunno about tears but it's sure does stick well. Best part is that it comes off with just warm soap water^^ Bad this is that there is only one colour available in sasa... Black. Crease proof.

Liquid liners are not difficult. You just have to be light handed and quick. Think of it as when you draw on a piece of paper with a chinese brush. I'm not perfect at it either, that's probably why i go with the pen type liquid liners more. Better grip XD Also, keep some cotton buds with you when doing the liquid eyeliner. if a mistake happens, quickly wet a tip of the cotton bud and swipe at the mistake. Works with all liners and requires minimal touch up of any eyeshadow you might have underneath.

Eh? not that pekat?

It's quite black and thick for me... Ah! you need to shake it ^ __^ I do that everytime before application. If don't shake come out a bit watery. but the thin layer dries well o.o-b

Liquid eyeliner is better than pencil as it doesn't smudge. Practise with brown colour, when you get better, use black. Do the upper eyelid first and then proceed to lower eye. You may contact me or attend my makeup course on 23rd May, 2-5pm in PJ. Course fee : RM100, I'm a professional makeup artist, 012-2063593

Revlon colourstay's doesn't smudge on me.

But most of other eyeliners smudges. I have super oily lids for reference.

Am loving REVLON Colorstays but lately I have tried on MAYBELLINE EYESTUDIO which I don't particularly like

Prefer liquid eyeliner over pencil anytime

liquid liner for the dramatic effect. but i have a very shaky hand therefore always resulting in smears and smudges. but i believe practice makes perfect! use pencil instead when drawing lower lids as liquid tend to smear our eyelids when we blink.

i use pencil eyeliner as for now. and it's more suitable for beginners because it's more sturdy and you have better control of the tip. it's just like you're holding a normal pencil and draw. negative part is it won't be as dramatic as liquid liner turns out to be.

it's another type of eyeliner.
gel eyeliner usually comes in small pots and we need an angled brush to apply. the effect is better, sharper and more dramatic compared to other eyeliners (eg: pencil, pen, liquid) out there. the bet raved gel liner is Bobbi Brown's.
